oh, that is really sad. i still don't understand why god does that kind of stuff. i guess the quote, "god works in mysterious ways" is true. ermm.gif it seems like whenever a drunk driver gets in an accident, the innocent person is always the one that gets hurt...

That's bad news.
Sometimes people just make bad choices. Anyone can, and everyone has.
I do think people should be more cautious, but still...Anyone can make a mistake.
I hope she recovers well.

She is not going to "get better". She is paralyzed from the neck down!!

This is a classic example of why I never have and never will drink and drive. I don't even let my friends drive after they have taken a drink.

thats sad...but I have no sympathy for drunk drivers. I had a friend die because a drunk driver ran a red light and slammed into the side of the car snapping her neck. I hate drunk drivers, and I hate people who run red lights. My boyfriends mother and brother were hit by red light runners. at different times. lots of crap. DONT DRINK AND DRIVE DONT SPEED AND DONT RUN RED LIGHTS!

Yeah, this is why people shouldn't drink and drive.

Well, something similar happened to a girl in my town. She was drunk. Had her two friends in the car. It was snowy. She went off the hill, flipped it over into the river. Her friends were unconsice, so, they couldn't hold their head out of the water. They were both killed. One died instantly, the other died a few hours later. She wasn't invited to the one girls funeral. Now, because she was the driver, she has to do 200 hours of community service, so, she does her little speech that has her story in it around the schools in our town, except she can't miss school, and she has them done in 2 years, (this year is her second) and she has already done some, (i think 50) in a year,so, if she doesn't get them done, she will go to jail for 5 years.

Nothing good comes from drinking and driving. I dont' care how you know how to "hold your liquior" or how well you drive.

"dont drink and drive". and well, it is true. but no matter how many people say it, people still are going to do it. all i can say is when ever you go out, MAKE SURE THERE IS A SOBER PERSON IN YOUR GROUP SO THAT PERSON can take responibility and drive.

ohmy.gif Poor her. This is another reason why I'm scared to drive. I don't want to get in an accident because I'm a bad driver lol pinch.gif Poor her. At least she's still alive. because when you are drunk, you dont think. period. I mean, people think I'm gonna go drink and then sober up and go home, but it actually takes the body over 24 hours to sober up, people dont realise that. I drink, but I never drive. if I'm the only one who can drive, then I dont drink. It sucks, and its not fun, but its safe.

some people don't realize the consequences are so great
and here's another true story:
----

Jack took a long look at his speedometer before slowing down:
73 in a 55 zone.

When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour, Jack pulled over,
but only partially off the road.
Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard.
Maybe some other car will tweak his backside with a mirror.

The cop that stepped out of his car was Bob; Bob from Church?

Jack sunk farther into his seat. This was worse than the coming
ticket, a Christian cop catching a guy from his own church.

Jumping out of the car, he approached a man he saw every Sunday,
a man he'd never seen in uniform.

Jack - "Hi, Bob."

Bob - "Hello, Jack." No smile.

Jack - "Guess you caught me red-handed in a rush to see my wife
and kids."

Bob - "Yeah, I guess."

Jack - "I've seen some long days at the office lately. I'm
afraid I was going a little fast. Diane said something about
roast beef and potatoes tonight. Know what I mean?"
Jack toed at a pebble on the pavement.

Bob - "I know what you mean. I also know that you have a
reputation for speeding."

Ouch. This was not going in the right direction. Time to
change tactics.

Jack - "What'd you clock me at?"

Bob - "Seventy. Would you sit back in your car please?"

Jack - "Now wait a minute here, Bob. I checked as soon as I saw
you. I was barely nudging 65."

Bob - "Please, Jack, in the car."

Flustered, Jack hunched himself through the still-open door.
Slamming it shut, he stared at the dashboard. The minutes
ticked by. Why hadn't he asked for a driver's license?
A tap on the door jerked his head to the left. There was Bob,
with a folded paper in hand.

Jack rolled down the window a mere two inches, just enough room
for Bob to pass him the slip.

"Thanks a lot!" Jack could not quite keep the sneer out of his
voice.

Bob returned to his police car without a word as Jack unfolded
the sheet of paper. How much was this one going to cost?

Jack began to read:
"Dear Jack, once I had a daughter. She was six when killed by a
car. You guessed it - a speeding driver.

A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to
hug his daughters (all three of them). I only had one, and I'm
going to have to wait until Heaven before I can ever hug her
again.

A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man for killing my
daughter. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I
need to do it again. Even now. Pray for me. And be careful.
My son is all I have left.

Bob"

Jack turned around in time to see Bob's car pull away and head
down the road. Jack watched until it disappeared. A full 15
minutes later, he too, pulled away and drove slowly home,
praying for forgiveness and hugging a surprised wife and kids
when he arrived.

Life is precious so handle it with care.
Drive safely and carefully.

Yes, I kind of know whats that like. There was this boy, Ty, who was a jock & all & was one of those kids who everyone knew & liked....Well he was on meth, and he stole his mom's pistol, went behind his church, and blew hal of his face off. This happened on the 18th of this month...I personally didnt know him, but it's very sad. RIP Ty.
