I wanted to get your thoughts on something i thought was interesting

There a magazine at Boston University that is called "Boink" its a college porno (well more erotic than porno) mag that features college students. here an snippet from mtv news:

"Last month, Boston University students launched Boink, a "sex positive" magazine produced by undergraduate students that features real co-eds in nothing but their birthday suits. Created by and for students, the magazine (plugged as "Real College Porn for Real College Students") comes straight on the heels of the sex-themed Harvard publication H Bomb as well as the sexuality- and sexual-health-oriented Vassar mag Squirm.

"We wanted Boink to represent college and all that college is," said senior Alecia Oleyourryk, a journalism major and the magazine's editor in chief. Aside from the erotic photography, the magazine also features sex-themed articles, advice, fiction and humor. And, Oleyourryk added, "It's for all sexual orientations and people of all different colors, races and preferences."

-Taken from MTV NEWS

what are your thoughts? for all those college students or soon to be college students would you embrace this type of magazine at your school?

Well it all depends.
Hell yeah i would like it.
but then some people would think the school is turning into some kind of Porno school.
But they are in college, and they are probably adults so they can do what they want. ( over 18) Unless your one of those child prodigy kids who went to college at like age 8. Otherwise, go for it. wink.gif

i dont think its that bad . if those students feel they are comfortable with getting nude for a magazine then let them do it. if anyone doesnt like the magazine then dont buy it .

eh! I think it's COMPLETELY unnessecary. Are they trying to sell sex to students? I just don't think it's right. People are complaining about so many adults losing their virginity at such a young age, and I can clearing see why.

no, i don't think this should be done.

college students wishing to have porno taken of them can go to playboy. college students wishing to 'read' porno can buy playboy.

likewise, all college newspapers should be banned, as if college students wish to write, they can write for the new york times, and if they wish to read, they can read the times.

in addition; colleges should not have thier own laboratories, nor theaters, or anything of the sort.

i would def not embrace or even promote that kind of magazine because i think it makes the university seem kinda dirty. i mean, some people who have very closed minds would probably judge the education program and other students just by the magazine that they have been heard about. i mean, it is pretty much pornography "featuring" college students. i just don't think it seems right. def unique but just not right, IMO.

it's not like the school's publishing it. just a couple kids in the school. it's their side job. if it was really their job, would it be any different? no. it's a hobby. what's the big deal?

I dont know. To me that will just divide the school. I mean, you got all the easy looking people spreading it in the pages of the mag, it will put pressure on girls and guys who owuldnt do that sort of thing to do it. I mean, and then people will think the ones spreding it are easy, so they will go after them and ignore the not nekkid ones. It could ruin a lot relationships. Also, it would make a sort of false celebritydom for those nudie people. I mean, the good thing about college is that there is no popularity really...but if 80%of the guys (or more probably) are reading this magazine, they will have their favs. And besides, isnt college to focus on education, not becoming a porn star?

I support their right to have a porn mag that focuses on the girls of the university. It would be a lot easier for a girl to get in the latest spread of 'Boink' than it would for her to be in 'Playboy.' And as for the students that are intereted in the magazines themselves, don't you think they'd be a bit more interested in reading (gawking) about a girl that might be in one of their classes or live in their same hall?

College newspapers, despite the politics and the bullshit they call ethics, are a good start to learning the system. Your writing can get scouted as if you were playing sports and big name newspaper could request your services. Better yet, if you already have the prerequisite with journalism, you're more likely to land a job on major area newspaper.

Whats your beef with colleges?

Ok first of all the magazine is not intended for not only girls, but guys, gays, everyone of every sexuality and race. I understand peoples' arguements that college should be focused on education but like sammi stated college students do have lives. Boston University does not run this magazine, in fact they dont support it all. Its an independent magazine. I am all for sexual freedom. If one chooses to pose nude for the school's erotic mag, fine by me. Me, being in college student, I wouldnt mind this kind of mag coming to my campus, I wouldnt be in it because posing nude for all the world to see is not my thing. And did someone mention college's should having no newspapers?!? I love my schools newspaper. I read it over my city's newspaper. I can relate to it more because it is coming for people of my age. But thats just me and its what I love about college....the freedom....to think outside the box

If a person wants to buy a porno mag or make one, its none of my business to poke in on it. Hell, if it gives a univerisity a bad name, whatever, as long as I get my degree.

I think people should just embrace the fact that people are comfortable to express themselves that way. (Although a very dirty way... tongue.gif )

I personally am against all porno, so I wouldn't like this as well and in my opinion, should be banned.

But if they're comfortable doing that, then God let them. I can't stop them, and I don't want to poke into other people's business.

i wouldnt personally promote the magazine, but i mean...it really is up to the person to pick up the magazine and go through it. i mean, the ppl that are in it give their own consent to be in it. no ones really forcing anyone to do anything like read or be in teh mag.

although this may seem very unnessesary, and sorta nasty, they are collage students, and i guess that can do whatever they wish. the majority of them are probably 18+, so that gives them freedom to to what they want. the only thing i can say is, if you dont approve of it, try not to pay any attention to it.

I wouldn't advocate it, but if the school gave the publication the okay, then that's enough for me...

Well, I personally don't have a problem with people looking at porn. What they do behind closed doors is up to them. But.. the thought is porn from schools. ermm.gif

In college, almost everyone is legal and should have the right to buy what they want and to accept what is there even if they don't like it. So I guess it's okay. Just... not something I'd personally be into. blink.gif

There are enough places and I agree that it's not necissary but.. think about it... what is necissary in life? College isn't even necissary in life. I'm not really for it but I'm not against it. I just think that they should have the choice to expose themselves if they want to. I duno.. I personally wouldn't. But whatever.

personally i'm against it.
i don't think colleges should start embracing porno magazines.
sure the college students are old enough to decide for themselves to buy or not but i think it should be left out of "school" and maybe placed somewhere else.
