Hey.
I'm just wondering if there have ever been serious gun threats at any of your schools.

Ever since the Columbine shooting, my school has had minor, minor threats around this time of the year.

But ever since the more recent Red Lake (Minnesota) shooting occured, there have been a few constant threats. We live very close to Red Lake, might I add.

So ever since about the end of last week, there had been a crapload of rumors going around about some chick having a hit list and all. No one thought much of it.

Then on Tuesday (yesterday), my school was on the local news and front paper. Apparently, those rumors were very true. The girl had deleted the list though, but she had a list compiled of people that she was going to shoot on April 20th, which is the anniversary of the Columbine shootings and is also Hiter's birthday. The list mainly had eighth and ninth graders on it, and the people on there were so-called "preps" and "poser goths." I'm not saying they are or aren't, I'm just repeating what I've heard.

Anyway, she's currently at the local mental institution, but not for the list and all, because as of right now, there isn't any complete proof that the list existed, although a lot of us had seen it. I saw it on her site, but I didn't read it. I didn't think anything of it. I wish I did though.

Anyway, she's at the mental institution because apparently she cut herself during class a few times. On the hand, tongue, and leg.

I'm sort of getting off-track...

Has your school ever had any gun threats before?
If yes, were they minor or major?

We've been having cops monitoring the hallways since a day or two after the Red Lake shooting. Now we're doing daily "security" drills.

I'm not worried. I was a bit paranoid today, but I wasn't on the list, and she's not going to be back for the rest of the year, so yeah. A lot of people are skipping school on April 20th.

Um, no. *Another major upside to living in a small country town in Ohio* We've never had any gun threat. Really, no threats at all. (Even though the entire student body has a gun because of hunting). Which is great. I dont mind.

We still have drills though. Espically since a school about 15 min from mine had a "threat" but really wasn't. It was just a rumor.

^ Yeah, some people from my school knew some of the victims and the killer.

In response to living in a small town -- Both my town and state are very small in population. It could happen anywhere, you know. North Dakota is one of the least-populated states. It literally could happen anywhere. I never thought anything could happen to my town, let alone my school.

There have been none....since I've been at this school anyway...but there have been incidents....like the most previous one..where this rapist comes upon school grounds with a gun...everyone was locked inside classrooms...and they messed up the lunch schedule....but throughout the day....you had to walk around with someone...or the rapist could get you....

Yes. She had a huge list compiled, and this is the first serious gun threat my school has ever had. She basically had anyone on her list that ever had a problem with her. She got a lot of shit from people for literally no reason, so yeah. I believe she was serious. I wouldn't be going to school on April 20th if she wasn't currently away from school.

Well I'm homeschooled so.. no not really, tehe.

But the school I would be going to (Thank God I dont) They, this last year, had a kid bring a gun to school, he didnt get to shoot anybody because someone found out that he had a gun and told the principal before he could do anything. But they found a hit list and a hand gun in the kids backpack and a guy I know (and am semi-friends with) was on the list. *shiver*

Nah, considering that mine is a public school, it;s actually quite safe. We're a small city, so there hasn't been many shootings here.

at my school bout a yr ago we had a bomb threat and we were instructed to run out of the school and get as far as possible, and that still looked pretty close, cause we wern't allowed to leave the school.

we wern't allowed to enter the school so of coarse there was no h/w and i was all PRAIS THE LORD

but at a school nearby, were alot of my friends go, a kid brought a shot gun and 12 knives to school and threatend them somehow

Yeah every once in a while. Once like half the school called their parents cause "a bunch of goths" (their words not mine) were going to shoot up the school after my lunch period. There were a TON of cops there, and all the APs were freaked out. Nothing ever happened though, but everyone was like hiding in the bathrooms after lunch. I think the whole school was tardy that day. but yeah it was scary sweating.gif ohmy.gif

edit- APs being assistant principals. and we always have drug busts and stuff.
oh yeah. and a couple of years ago some genius called in a bomb threat at school, on his cell phone. ha, they tracked him in like 4 minutes. Oh, and in the 5th grade the whole school got cleared out cause of a bomb threat

April 20th is my friend's birthday rolleyes.gif

When Columbine happened, every school was crazy ridiculous on security(I live in Colorado, so that's why), but no gun threats have been at my school. Maybe because we have so many security guards. They're practically everywhere.

hmm, that's freaky. nope, we've probably had a gun threat or two, but nothings happened. yup, we get the occasional fights here and there and the occasional threats having to do with knives. oh! and last year, there was a stabbing incident. blood. police. people getting expelled. the guy who got stabbed is okay now though. our school may sound violent, especially for a middle school, but it isn't considering that theres a police officer on campus all the time now.

no, thank god. no GUN threats. but some minor BOMB threats. in the beginning of the year at the high school, someone left a box in the bathroom and the whole school had to evacuate b/c they thought it was a bomb. (in reality it was just a stupid prank). Last year, there was a bomb threat written on the bathroom stall. They made a big deal about that too. Ooh...and in 6th grade, my ex-friend (she moved) wrote a note to my math teacher (they hated each other) and she left it in the girls bathroom. Someone read it and gave it to the principal and it threatened to kill the teacher. Yeeahhh...lots of drama.

Well. When I was in 7th grade. this girl Erika was dating a guy named Brian. And she wasnt his type so he left her for a girl named Jennifer. Well the next day Erika tried to poison Jennifer. I don't know every detail.

Another story. My best friend Justin....lit the middle schol bathrooms on fire 2 years ago. We actually laugh at it now. It was an accident. He just lit a piece of paper on fire in the bathroom and didn't think anything of it, and then threw it away...and kaboom went the bathroom. Of course he was arrested, on house arrest, and a bunch of other stuff....nothing that major

Very scary when that happens...usually if there are, we don't know about them...just rumors and things. Some have happend at the highschool I'll be going to.

There was a minor one..someone taped like a bullet to the bathroom wall and wrote a threatening message. But they found out who it was..but you'd think they could be more creative then that if they are going to try to be all scary. Tape?

This one guy did bring a gun to my school. He didn't go to our school. He just got on one fo the school buses. He showed someone the gun and he was planning on shooting someone, but the someone that he showed the gun to told the principal. Yeah..

And

This kid at an elementary school in town just recently brought a gun to school. He was planning on standing on top of the building (how he was going to get on top of the building, I dont know) and shoot teachers/kids as they came out. They found out he had the gun the same way they found out about the guy ^^ up there.

oh wow, thats really scary. well- its pretty ironic that you are mentioning it now but my school is going through it right now. last thursday- there was a HUGE fight at my school between the blacks and mexicans and well, there was an exchange of words and supposedly, someone was suppose to bring a gun to school and shoot the entire school. a lot of students were scared and no one came to school on Friday!

the whole fight was over a boy that was shot earlier within the week. there are some ties to the boy that was shot with some students at my school, or so i heard.

the entire week, there has been extra cops surrounding our school and extra security circulating the entire school. its really childish that someone would want to do something so horrible for such a petty incident. -__-

there were, however, some reported pipe bombs planted outside near the football field recently. really scary stuff.. >_<

stay safe though! although i dont know you too well, you must stay safe and be careful, dear (:

I say the worst thing that ever happened at my school, is some kid brought a termometer to school, broke it and they made it look like a huge thing, the EPA came in, lots of cops, and we were stuck the for 4 hours after we were supposed to be let out, and they didn't let us go upstairs to get our coats, damn freshman! (no offense)

Yeah but most of the time its always gang related with the guns, and kids bring knives, what our schools solution? change the dress code. Man I hate my old school, erg!

Well I live in Colorado and after Columbine the sercurity around all the schools was of course tightened. Uhm I can't remember anything really crazy happening since then. I think there was a bomb threat possibly or something a bit ago but I could be making that up. However like a month ago, in the middle school next to my school, a kid had written up a hit list against African-Americans (and put himself) and so we had all these cops and news stations around. That's all I can think of at the moment.

i wish my highschool were doing check ups.. for the druggies in the school.

well actually, this monday or tuesday, there was this "bomb threat" in the bathrooms, they used the yellow caution tape, & had the cops watch by. though, i heard in my math class, that they just put dry ice in the toilet, because a science teacher gave the students to study on i guess, or because they asked for some.

the only things that happened that's relevent to this topics are bomb threats, but without the involving the media (newspaper, tv news..).

Well, I'm in junior high and it has happened before here.
Also, I live in a very sheltered town and state, so it could happen at a junior high.

Wow gosh that's freaky. That kind of stuff happens a lot at my school. This girl shan, hated my best friend a lot so then one day she brought a knife, but she dropped it and my friend and her bf saw so then my friend's boyfriend stood in back of her to protect her. Gosh I was really scared when that happened. But yeah theres also lots of threats at my school like "i'm gonna bring a gun to school and blow your head off". Pretty scary.

not my school, but my future high school that's right next to us. some person wrote stuff about shooting all the cheerleaders and anyone around them afterschool and then that day if you weren't at school, you weren't counted absent. i guess that's kinda major.

Nope our schools haven't been like that. But, little kids these days like to beat each other up. Like this one kid got arrested for kicking a kid in the face and almost killing him.

We had a supposed bomb threat back when I was in the 8th grade (9/11 still lingering...) which pretty much had us evacuated to the church...we weren't warned of anything at first when we arrived, just thought it was some random assembly or something...
