No, it's original.
When was the last time you saw the KoolAid guy jump through a wall into court and yell out, "Oh yeah!" in The Simpsons?

Exactly.

Ok. (First Post btw)...

Family Guy is definately not a rip off. It is the most random show I've seen, and many of the writers are either past/current writers of the Simpsons, or recommended. I can't speak for South Park, but I, in no way, think Family Guy can be compared. They can both be offensive but are entirely different.

And Best Episode? Luke Perry is Gay....

Well, if you think about it. They kinda have their share of similarities. Well, Matt Groening atleast thinks Peter's a Homer clone.

Interesting... Matt Groening thinks that. Hmmmmmmm...I'm gonna try my best 2 dig up sum more cool info! PAULMAN, AWAY!

A ha, I've got LOADS of info
Matt Groening is comedic genius! Simpsons has been going downhill, as a few of you have mentioned, as of late. Aside from that, everything else was great! The reason why Futurama was not liked so much is because of Fox. They...are...fuctards! After watching seasons 1-3 of it, I'm laughing every episode and it keep me WELL entertained. DVD is the best way to see anything, these days. Another perfect example is Family Guy. A few days ago, watching an ep of season 2 I had missed, a rare thing happened: I laughed very very hard, cried a little. The look on the poor kangaroo's face as it dragged Peter along the zoo... *gags in laugher*... Oh man, only series to ever do that to me was Excel Saga, and that's a rare case where I understand all the hidden jokes (ep 26 had me rolling in tears...). I'm eagerly anticipating the next season of Family Guy, I definitely think Matt can top himself again :D. Here's hoping Fox doesn't f**k things up so much again...
Hope that all didn't bore you, it's just I'm pretty damned bored myself, so I hope seeking out info on that will keep you as entertained as it kept me.

Come to think of it, I'm quite confident in stating that Peter became the Grim Reaper before Homer did...and many things in that Simpson's episode were simalar to those in Family Guy..

Could it have been the same writer? show runner?...

I wouldnt' dare jump to the conclusion the the Simpsons ripped off Family Guy...But the Simpsons have new episodes so it's not impossible for them to rip anything off...

Correct. Peter was death b4 homer. They also used the joker LAST NITE IN BED, LOIS WAS THE MAN/ MARGE WAS THE MAN and they r lying in the same position at the kitchen table. Peter did that first too.

Indeed.

In funny TV shows, you laugh really hard, but for me, Family Guy takes it to another level...

Even if you hate the show, I can gaurantee you'll get a cheap laugh or two.

And also: My favorite scene in any of the episodes...

When Peter is jealous of Joe being in the specail olympics, and tries to fake his handicap with a terribly fake video tape with terrible editing...Heh heh. It shows him saying something like.."Oh my God! An oncoming car! ahhhh!", then it shows a scarcrow with his clothes on actually getting hit....And he's driving the car.

Actually, no. Matt Greoning and Seth McFarlane dont write the shows . They are the creators, but they don't actually write dialouge/direct/etc. For example: Conan O'Brian wrote a number of episodes for The Simpsons. But of course, the creators must agree with what is writen and give it the Okay...And showrunners also take a pig part in this. You have to think of ALL the people involved in creating these cartoons. You can't give all the credit to those two people. If it werent for some of the genious writers, The Simpsons might not even be on TV today.

I think what Shortiiex meant was that some of the people that are hired to write for Seth McFarlane have written for Matt Greoning. And that is true.

What so many of you don't understand is that your beloved Simpsons and Futurama are suffering in ratings. Because of this Matt Groening hired new writers to add shock value to the show to compete with Family Guy and South Park. As for FG ripping of South Park, thats a fallacy within itself because they're too different shows with two different aims at entertainment.

Yeah. In fact, Matt Greoning said himself that there will only be one more seasons of the Simpsons. I can tell they're running out of fresh ideas...I dont dislike the Simpsons now, but I do tend to like the episodes from around the fifth or sixth season much more.

Futurama I never really enjoyed in the first place, but I have nothing against it.

How can you say that Family Guy is original if you all admit that it is just a parody of everything.

I, for one, don't think the show is original. I can admit that it is funny at times ... but it becomes a bit repetitive. It kind of gets old when they break out into a pop culture reference every 10 seconds ... and you can totally tell when its going to happen.

South Park is a much better show.

I don't think it's a rip-off. Even though it copis the style of a family, the family members themselves are different. And besides, family guy is funnier rolleyes.gif ...way funnier than the simpsons... South Park is just idiotic like that...

LOL. I was laughing sooooo hard at that.

I don't think Family Guy's a rip off...I think all three shows have their own characteristics, and they're all different from each other. Although all three shows deal with the dysfunctional relationships the characters have with their friends, family, etc.

I love Family Guy the most, though. =]

Nah, I don't think it's a rip. I suppose Family Guy is like Simpsons, considering the characters[A fat dad, mom, and 3 kids]but it doesn't really matter to me. I absolutely love the show, it can always make me laugh. Especially, the one where Chris is trying to lose weight. xD

Everything is an evolution of something: before the simpsons it was the flinstones...anyway, family guy is original because it "was" the most random cartoon out there; now everyone's trying to copy it.

hells no.

family guy's in a class of its own. funnier than both the simpsons and south park.

good times...good times..."peanut butter jelly time!"

lois- "u two are gonna love each other and ur gonna like it! *stuffs them together* now stay like that for two weeks or else there's gonna be hell to pay!"

chris- "...this is gonna be awkward when we have to pee.."

I'm kinda bored with the simpsons, and never caught on to the south park craze. FG is definitely in a class all it's own. I mean, how often are you gonna see a dog dressed up as a banana singing, "peanut butter jelly time"!!! laugh.gif
