there is a special way you have to solve it. cool.gif

you start with the bottom row. get all the colors right there, and then do the middle row. the last one is the hardest, but you'll get it eventually.

at my school someone did it in less than a minute. ohmy.gif

I met a guy at a party who could do it in something like 11 seconds, and we gave him one and he did it, and it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen...

I can do them, its just so annoying and its time consuming. so I say why bother, but its good to solve when you need to waste sometime.

I always feel amazingly inadequate when I get defeated by a stupid plastic cube. I can get one or two sides, but I can't solve the rest.

It's saddening.

My grandfather had one. After he died, my grandmother kept it sitting around. As a boy, I was always enthralled by it. I tried to solve it, but I never could.

Sometimes I think that the Rubik's cube is a good symbol of my life: A lot to achieve, but sometimes I don't put enough effort into achieving all the things I set out to achieve. I feel that I could solve the Rubik's cube if I applied myself to it.

The computer scientist in me says that there is clearly an algorithm to solving it efficiently. It's all very mathematical in nature. I think one could reduce the colors to integer representations, and then figure out a way to solve it using numbers. It's nothing but a three-dimensional matrix, after all. I think that when I have more time over the summer, I might try to apply myself to it and see if I can finally solve it on my own.

Nah. They're really confusing. Like, I could be done with one whole section and when I turn it around it's out of order.

There is an algorithm and such. And also, there's a Rubik's Cube Competition.. yes competition tomorrow at Cal Tech. My friend is dragging me there. But we'll get to meet Tyson, the guy from Beauty & the Geek and other people who can cube super fast. (:

I can!

I use to love little things like that when I was little, I use to sit on the floor and just look at it until I figured where to move the next thing.

It took a while but it was amusing back then.
