Nu-metal, love it or hate it? |

Personally I despise nu-metal, however I am fortunate enough to have knowledge enough that I shouldn't have a little rant about it. Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, and all the other bands that exist to sell CDs to kids just do not do it for me. What is everyone else's opinion? because try as I might I cannot find a single nu-metal song in the top 1000 of any reputable magazine.

Oh? And what is exactly considered under "nu-metal"?
What genres of metal I mean. Cuz I like a lot of different genres of metal. :) |

I don't even consider nu metal to be anything legitimate. There are so many bands in that genre that are so incredibly different, I don't even consider it legitimate. I mean.. Linkin Park is in there....Along with Slipknot. Excuse me, but do they have anything in common? I realize that bands put into genres don't have to have a lot in common with one another, but if they're in the same category, you'd think that they'd have something in common, right? Well, I really don't see many (if ANY) traits that Linkin Park and Slipknot share. To me, "nu metal" is just a category full of bands that barely have anything in common with each other because they don't have a set genre. |

it depends. like brie said, there are SO many bands that are completely different from one another that are categorized in the nu metal genre.
personally i'm a fan of linkin park, slipknot, and NIN. <33333 |

^ old underoath is straight up hardcore. new underoath is pure screamo.
i don't like nu-metal anymore. i mean there are a few bands that people call nu-metal that i like, (slipknot, nonpoint, soilwork, etc), but now a days it just bores me. it's so slow. and consists of, like, 3 chords. and the lyrics aren't clever or deep or anything. just write down "pain", "inside", and some other words in between there. QUOTE personally i'm a fan of linkin park, slipknot, and NIN. <33333 "Nu" means "new". NIN has been around since the 80s. it's hard to catagorise them. personally, i concider them industrial metal along the likes of ministry, mushroomhead, PM5k, Static-X, etc. |

nu-metal is just what people call mainstream rock/metal.
basically, nu-metal is just any band that can get some radio-play. or least that's what i think.... I like some nu-metal...I don't really care what people have to say about old Chevelle,Spineshank,Slipknot or Korn...they're all great bands to me, in their own ways. |
