ok well i noticed that one someone makes a topic thats already been made, poeple here on cb..seem to be, well, bothered. So lets say i actually use the search button (where ever that is), and i find a thread (so i won't make a repeated topic), and some Cb members get mad...because its been brought back since like a month ago. it just doesn't make sense to me.... actually using the search button to prevent making a topic that has already been made...and then getting bashed for doing so because it was made like a month or so ago.

what do you guys think?

sorry if this doesn't make sense. ermm.gif

Yeah... that makes me wonder too. Why they angry when you bring back old topics from the dead .. I'm actually surprised sometimes. Maybe because MOST CBers ARE TOO LAZY TO READ. :P

The reason we get bothered when there's a repeated topic is because that shows us you haven't read the Community Guidelines. I don't really get why people get mad if you bring back an old topic so I have to agree with you there. _dry.gif

hmm, sometimes it bothers me.. if it's some stupid topic. But idk why they should bash someone for bringing up an old topic.. rather than having to make a whole new topic.. and get bashed for that.

control issues.

lol jk. i think they only get mad (usually) when people bring back old threads to say, "yeah" or "i agree." or things like that. But if you have something valid to say, i don't see why you shouldn't. At least you're using the search button, so works for me!

but i'm just a newb, so I dunno biggrin.gif

Some people just get puzzled when others bring back old topics that have long been forgotten. I think "embracing the search button" is better than creating an already existing topic because repeated topics are bound to get closed anyways, so bringing back topics is your better choice.

Why can't we reply to older topics?

I don't get mad when people bring back old topics, unless they apply more to the topic starter (like blends/vectors/drawings in Pictures, or Xanga Showcase). I think that if you bring back a topic like that...it's a bit unfair to those who recently want to have their work critiqued and have their topic bumped back a couple of pages because someone bumps up all the old picture topics.

I agree.
I think once a topic reached 10+ pages, it should be closed and anyone could feel free to make a new one.

I don't get mad, unless it's obvious that person is trying to raise his/her post count. I sometimes bring back old topics because I have something useful or important to add.

I've always wondered that myself actually. It does seem weird.

Can someone explain that to me (us)?

well repeat topics shows that they obviously didn't read the guidelines.
it'd help us all if they read it and tried to follow it.
that's why some people say
QUOTE
sorry if this was already posted, but blah blah blah

or
QUOTE
blah blah blah so yeah. mods can close this if it's already been posted. sorry.

that means they read the guidelines and know what to do, they just don't know if it has been posted and know that it would be wrong if it was, and are apologizing for their actions in case it goes against the guidelines.

people following the guidelines = easier for mods to do their work

it's just easier on everyone.

because usually, people just say something that someone already said so it's pointless to have everything repeated all over again...and plus, if it's a problem someone had, they're probably over and it don't need more advice

edit
perfect example ciara's a man?! everything in here is getting repeated all over again, someone already had a link proving that she is not and never was a man

I agree. In topics about blends/vectors/drawings/etcetera, I don't think they should be brought back. Otherwise things in the Lounge and stuff should so we don't 5 repeated topics.

nah i think then the same people would post the same things over again and that would just be pointless.

i can see why making the same topics can be annoying. but to get mad over bringing an old topic up is dumb. but then i understand if its just someone trying to bump up their post count and is just commenting on older skins, graphics, etc. posting "omg great work" or "i agree' but if they really have something to say..then i dont mind at all

Well said and agreed.
Seriously, some people should just chill. But in those Pictures topics, etc., it's important to give someone else a chance to get critiqued and commented on. It's just not fair when someone works so hard on something but dumb people just have to bump it back a couple of pages.
