Does anyone know what IP addresses are used for? And also if someone is like.... posting stuff on ur chatter box and you know their IP what can you do with it? Whats the point of showing it?

an IP is your number .. they are used to see who posted on your site .. and if you know someones ip number and they are writing mean stuff just put in there ip number to block them .. it`s not really that important ..

If you have a counter too, you can match the ip codes and see where they live, and that`s an easier way to find out who it is

I also heard that you could use IP's to hack, but I don't know if that's right.

ip is like your identity on the internet. you go to a website, it gets connected through the web server's IP, return feeds come back through your IP. it's sort of like a gateway. So naturally, it does have to do with hacking
