Well, the title of this thread should be self explanatory. My ex/current love interest is a huge soccer freak. What brought us together intially was our love for sports. However, there are times when she can be unladylike and this sometimes crud manner makes things awkward when around my family. Even worse, she's finding it ever so difficult to wear skirts, walk heels and wear makeup. For me, I don't mind that she wears a t-shirt, jeans and a pair of Nike Shox everyday because the girl is incredibly smart and has a personality that anyone could get along with. But still, with me being the labeled "metrosexual," its often a little strange seeing me decked out in a full fit from Express and Kenneth Cole boots and her in her usual t shirt and jeans. Prom should be interesting.

Being that the only girls I've ever dated were athletes or tomboys, I'm not sure what its like to date one of those materialistic 'fashion whores.' Not like I want to change my ex, but for her to actually be prissy from time to time wouldn't hurt.

well it doesnt matter what she wears or how she does her hair.. as long as she loves you and has a good personality.. to date a girly girl who thinks bout make up everyday arent really that bright.. all they care about is the green in your pocket..

i was a tomboy up unti whenl i first got into high school. i use to hate wearing shirts, makeup, and high heels until my first day as i ninth grader i decided to wear a skirt and then these hot guys that were juniors and seniors were saying how sexy i looked.....so yeah i am very much a girly girl now but sometimes i find myself going back to my old ways

well if you're just contrasting them relationship-wise.. i don't think they're that much different besides their outer appearance and where they shop.

could you further describe a "lady" and a "tomboy?" i'm quite befuddled. there's the obvious, a lady dresses more ladylike, and a tomboy more .. actively i guess.

but i'm just saying this from what and who i know- the girly girls are more prone to asking somebody to do the dirty work for them, and the .. tomboys are more enthusiastic to do that sort of stuff.

in general, girly girls- emotional fights. tomboys- physical fights. don't bother saying anything about the fact that both will encounter both, because it's just in general.

i dunno, i need more people to post to build a decent opinion.

im a tomboy and I say let her be herself. if you cant stand her plain look and her love for sports or w/e, then she aint for you.

WOuld you rather play football with a girl or go shopping for hours looking for the right nail polish color?

When I refer to a girl being ladylike, it has nothign to do with her personality or intelligence. My ex burps as much as I do, bites her nails, playfights with me, plays sports against me, never really does her hair or wear makeup and thats fine with me. To me, that makes her a bit of a tomboy. If she was more ladylike, she would dres up from time to time, or wear makeup, get her nails done and act proper all the time.
