Well this past 4 months my brother built me my new computer witch is super fast but there is a problem with the internet. I have a wireless card witch I can get wireless internet but I dont want that. I am right next to the modem and the router so might as well use a wire. But when I plug the wire into the place where you plug it in. no internet. cry.gif

I think there is supose to be a light that comes out of the tip of the plug but no light when I plug it in.

My other brother has the same motherboard and has no problems with the internet. So is there anything you guys/gals can do to help me?

the reason why I want to use a wire is bc the wireless card can only get me 12 mps but a wire can get me 100. which means a lot faster =]

so if any of you can help me. ppplease I beg you =]

any settings I have to change or something im doing wrong?

Thanks

Is your ethernet port enabled and working? Can you see a LAN icon in the icon tray? (bottom-right of screen)

what OS are you using? Win98 requires some tough configuration when on LAN.

i thought you usually need a driver for the internet to work.

how are you on AIM if you're not connected to the internet?

It looks like your wireless control panel is trying to overide the normal LAN configuration. I notice that you have a D-Link icon in your icon tray. Just right click that, and look for a way to disable it. Do the two moniters in the icon tray blink? Also, if it still doesn't work after disabling wireless, right click the LAN icon > hit Repair.

It's hard to diagnose a problem like that when you give practically no background information about your modem, router, os, connection, et cetera.
