ok, i have been thinking about this for a good 3 months now and i still can't make up my mind..

should i get a 20g ipod or an iriver h10?!

i can get the ipod for the same price as the h10 because my friend got an ipod for christmas but she doesn't want it so she said she will sell it to me (280 bucks.. it wasn't even taken out of the box)

but.. i also like the h10 but i heard that there's a lot of problems with it...

anyone own a h10? and if you do, do you like it?? what are some of the problems with it? and which one would you purchase if you were in my place, the ipod or the iriver???

i don't own an ipod or iriver.. but my friends do. I would totally go with the ipod since i think it's awesome.. but then the ipod is more expensive i think and it's bigger than an i river.

there's a lot of things you need to consider.

first off- the H10 is only 5gbs.

do you have more than 5gbs of music?
the H10 does have a few problems, but iriver's warrenty is quite good.

call them up, describe your problem, they give you a number, you ship it to them, they ship you a new one (or the same one fixed).

if you want to know more:
www.misticriver.net is a good site. Just if you post something, read the FAQs and use the search function first.

personally i'd buy the iriver H320. (i did) i got it for 260 USD, which sounds like your price range, but that was because best buy was ceasing to stock them.

they are currently 300 dollars; but you'd have to buy online so there's shipping involved.

you'll probably end up getting the ipod, i guess, becuase it'll be cheaper than the iriver H320 and will hold more songs than the H10.

just be careful- if it's broken, the warrenty only applies to the original purchaser (in most cases). you can always say it was a gift tho.

Are You kidding? Get the Irivier, Ipods suck. They break too easily and their warrenty is terrible. If you try to get it fixed, they wont because the repair team is the biggest bunch of idiots you will ever meet. The Iriver is just better. Also you might wanna get it so you can stick out and be unique, cause everybody gots an ipod. whistling.gif

because there are better and cheaper options, and most people only want ipods because they're "cool"- not because they're the superior product. that's how it mainly is around my area at least.

haha... wouldn't it be perfect if it was a 10/10?

i would go with the iriver, except i have about 10GB of music. if you have more than 5GB of music, then you should go with the ipod, but if you don't, i would definitely go with the iriver.

that's just becuase you're jelous other things have those and ipods need to pay to add them.

biggrin.gif jk...

anywyas: ipod doesn't have a lot of features.

and voice recorder can record live concerts, it can record from the FM tuner, it can record from line in... and lots more.

and it creates an MP3 file so yes, you can put it on the comptuer.

im debating on this as well, but im leaning towards the ipod right now. while the iriver isgood, my computer is still on windows 98, which it is apparently not made for. while the color screen without the ipod photo price plus the extra features would be great, i dont especially need the other features, and id rather hae more storage space, so that i can have a decent amount of cds on there. i was also considering the zen micro at one point, since its supposed to be good for people with windows who dont want to get completely roped into itunes, plus its small and cheaper, but again, not enough storage spcae. i considered the iriver h320 as well, but i am shallow enough to want my mp3 player to be pretty

it's really not that bulky... just a cm wider than the ipod, and a bit thicker.

nothing you'd notice if it was in your purse... unless you purse was super small.

if it's the same thing why are you getting so angry? she asked us for help, and we're saying the extra features on the iriver are nice even though they may not get much use. she obviously couldn't decide which one SHE wants, so that's why we're giving our input.

depends on which zen you're talking about.

don't get the Zen Xtra, that uses a laptop drive and is quite BIG.

however, the Zen Touch is only a about cm wider than the ipod, and is the same hight. i think it's a little thicker too...

the best thing for you to do is to actually hold each in your hand and try them.

xx angelbabu xx, go to misticriver

this is an iriver enthusist site, and it has an H10 section.

if you have problems with your H10 (if you get it) the FAQs will help, and you can ask the helpful people (just make sure the question hasn't been answered already... some people might get mad at you.)

it's a generally helpful site; it provides info on iriver's updates, and iriver is actively working on the H10.

i believe they recently released a firmware upgrade for the H10 that fixes most of it's problems... i didn't pay much attention to it because i don't have the H10.

but check out that site; it should answer your questions.

anyways: how many CDs do you have, what bitrate do you encode at, and how many CDs do you think you'll get?

oh, no, i was definitely thinking of the zen touch. i mean, i didnt think it was drastically bigger, but i thought it was more than that. i would like to hold them in my hand, but i dont know anyone who has anything besides forms of the ipod. (a remarkably large amount of people bought the ipod shuffle, and they seem to not have caught on yet that the ipod minis are a horrible deal)
