featured content, not cutting it. Options

So most of us know what "Featured Content" on xanga is, right? It's based on who gets the most eprops (silly, silly things) and therefore one would assume that it's whose xanga is the most interesting. However, that's not the case.

I go to www.xanga.com, and I usually enjoy looking through the "Featured Content" sites. But now, I just get severly disappointed with the material. I've noticed a LOT of:

-Boys/Girls who claim to be emo/scene. Their xangas are pretty much all the same, with 2346236 pictures of themselves with their hair (which I do admit, is pretty cool), and their bright backgrounds with dinosaurs and ambulances. Most of the boys have a bunch of pictures of girls holding up signs saying how hot the boy is. Snort. Their entries aren't too great, I must say.

-Anorexic people. This is pretty depressing. Yeah, no further comment.

-Porn xangas. Xanga is working on banning them from Featured Content, but every once in a while, one just seeps in. Sometimes the xanga names are innocent, but when I click, I see a giant penis on my screen.

And then there's those entries which are just kind of dumb, and the owner goes to everybody's xanga and RANDOM PROPSSS them and waits for the polite, propssss back.

Every once in awhile, there's somebody like Cakalusa (?) who writes amusing entries, but this is so rare now. Roar. Anybody else getting fed up with this lack of good material on FC? [And wow, did anybody actually read this entire thing.]

Well, I think the featured content Xangas are alright, I never see any of the things you mention, they're usually just regular Xangas..

I did! But i never go to Featured Content. So i wouldnt really know what your talking about except fo the part were you said about poeple randomly posting in xangas so they can reply back to them.

I don't really go to xanga that much anymore considering I shut down my xanga a while ago. But I do sometimes go there to see the FC and it has become pretty dumb these days =/

Most of the people featured on FC are lame. It's people who "talk liek dis." There are also the peopel who "sPeLl LiKe ThIs." That is why I don't really look there anymore.

yeah, i was quite sick of the uselessness, so i dont even bother clicking anymore. i used to get a lo of girls of the "im so artistic/gothic sort who would show a bunch of low quality pictures accompanied by hopelessly dull entries

I used to read the FC all the time, but... not anymore, for all the reasons you said. It used to actually be interesting, now it is just idiotic. There are a few people who's xangas I found through FC, whose entries I love reading. Gucci_Man, for example, whose entries I love reading.

There were a couple of times I went through the Featured Content, and there was a xanga with pornographic pictures. Isn't Xanga supposed to check the sites first before putting them on the Featured Content? There are a lot of young kids on Xanga who shouldn't be seeing those types of things.

Hm. I don't think that everything is always the same... like every xangas I go from featured content are not always the same. i guess you go to the xanga's who talks only emo? i mean i go to a lot of asian's xanga that their username looks unique like x_unique, x_susan, karol_00.. just some unique words to it? and i don't find any depression, anorexia, and emo-ish. they talk about God, their happy life, what they did today. Heh... so I don't have a same opinion as you do. Also I check the featured content to read some of their entries and leave them a comment. they're not always the same, that's what i think.

its annoying for me too when someone you HARDLY know comes to your xanga and leaves props just so they can have props too.

i never really look at the feautured content. i remember i was on there a few times cause my sister told me but i dont care. i dont see whats so good about being on featured content. some people freak out when they are post it as an entry of how much pride they have for that. but no hard feelings.
