What are the different types of push-ups? Are they just for the chest? I do the standard p.e. push-up and sometimes the one where u make your hands into a diamond. Are there any others and do they work back, biceps etc?

while pushups are good for your shoulder, chest, triceps and abs if you try hard enough, I wish you good luck trying to get to it work for biceps

It actually depends on what kind of pushups your doing... Not to sound like a wiseass or anything but most of the people i've met dont really know how to do affective pushups...
Depends on what your trying to accomplish too. If you just want a toned body than just do as much of what your doing right now as you can. If you want bigger bulgier muscles than I suggest the Military Pushups Military Pushups - Keep arms completely straight from your shoulders to the ground and keep back straight... If you want to allout slotter the fat and have your muscles overtake your body than just do Diamond Pushups. I'm sure you've heard of those before so i'm not going to explain it. If you've basically mastered all of these than I suggest you get some weights and place them in a backpack while doing pushups to increase intensity of the excersize... |

One handed pushups, clap push ups, pushups when you go down and push up you push your whole body off the floor including your feet where your entire body is off the ground and then clap pushups behind the back (extremly hard, only seen 1 person ever do these) then you got your diamond, your knucle, then take dumbbells and then put your hands on the them and dp pushups, you can elevate your feet works different muscles, just getcreative, you can do wall pushups, then handstand pushups

for basketball you can do one-armed push ups that help a lot.
if its to hard to do at first you can try doing the push ups where you have one had on a ball and the other on the ground and then switching hands. |

well i dunno how to explain it, u could find a step or a coffe table (a stirdy coffee table) and face ur back to it, then put ur hands behind u resting it on the step/table whatever, and keep ur feet straightend out. it looks like ur sitting in a chair or somthing...but do it...OKAY?? jk

^i know what you're talkin about. i think it's like reverse pushups or something.
Try elevating your feet for a more difficult push-up. Umm, like everybody else said, diamonds, claps, one hand, etc. QUOTE my friends brother whos a marine told us to do this pushup where like you make a fist and do a pushup that way instead of your palm on the ground I heard that's actually better for your wrists. Must suck if they're doing those on concrete or something, though. |

There are several different types of push ups for diffrent parts of your upper body. What people fail to realize is that push ups do work all the different parts in your arms like your biceps it just does not target that muscle like it does the triceps and the chest.
__________________________________________________________________________ Military Push-Ups - Arms shoulder width apart I recommend 65 repetitions take a two minute break then do one more set Triangle Push-Ups - Touch the thumbs together while attempting these I recommend 25 repetitions to start with, take a two minute break between sets ---- 3 sets in total Wide Spread Push- Ups - Hands aligned with the elboes Same as that applys to Triangle push-ups Hand Stand Push-Ups - Warning these push-ups are extremly hard and dangerous to someone who is not familiar with handstand training Seriouse risk of neck injury. - Get against a wall into a handstand with fingertips touching the wall slowly lower your self to the ground until head is just about to touch the floor (Keep stress on Shoulders) then push up and repeat the process These push ups will take time to learn how to do most body builders are not even able to do one handstand push up so be patient. I do and would recommend 20 repetitions for someone with experience and 10 to a newbie, do two sets and take 3 minute breaks in between sets. One handed push ups will not help as much as regular push ups will. (One handed push-ups in my eyes are for mostl bragging rights, anyone can do them it just takes time to learn) |

(One handed push-ups in my eyes are for mostl bragging rights, anyone can do them it just takes time to learn) Military push-ups are weird to me. They just don't feel right. I can do the same amount of triangle push-ups as wide spread ones. About 40 reps per set but less on the triangles because my hands tend to stiffen up. I like doing hand stand push-ups (someone told me they were called Chinese push-ups ![]() ![]() If you want a challenge you should try it with chairs. I've seen Brock Lesnar (the former WWE superstar) train with them. Wide spread position on the chairs; one chair for each hand and one chair to support your feet. Then go! It's so much harder because usually when you go all the way down, the ground stops you but with this method you can go even farther. I guess you can say push-ups is a hobby? |

"nah it all good.. ppll still ginaa replyy.. anwayy.. aintt nonee u nubzz cannn doo watt i say.. so GTFOOO!!" No, it's all good because people are still going to reply. Anyways, there's not anything you n00bz can do about what I say, so GTFO. Wow, that sounded so much better wouldn't you say? |
