Okay here is how I learned... Video of My LIFE - that little video clip changed my life. I have always been a strong kid but when I saw that video I realized that that guy was my life and I wanted to have sex with him because he can do pushups without using ANY leg muscles... I than spent a long ass time working on doing that by toning / sculpting my muscles and bulking them up. But if you can do the stuff that that guy can do than your in there.
Soon after I finally was able to do 10 of those types of pushups I realized all I had to do was move my legs in circles and bend my knees at messed up places. I can do almost everything he can do except do the backflip and rest my body ontop of my forearms and move my whole bottom half of my body around myself. That takes way too much skill and he's too advanced for me...

Are there any bboys or bgirls up in here?\
I can so some moves. But Im still practicing. But like, so skinny though. Deahtly skinny. As in, no fat/muscle to protect bones. Just skin. So I can't do windmills and shit on hard surfaces. I can do Nikes, Windmills, a messed up 6 step. Your average moves.

I know there is a dancing thread. But I wanted a specific Bboy/girl thread. Cause most of the people there didn't break, but also did tap, jazz, ballet and stuff. I just wanted to filter it. Also, popping and locking, Anybody do that well?

it takes a crazy amount of work and a lot of time (of course it's easier if ur naturally talented) but if u really immerse urself in it then you can be good at it. I made a half-hearted attempt to do it as a side-thing and it didnt work out that well.

Umm, if you enter in how to breakdance on google, that About.com site should appear, they hvae lots of instructions and a variety of moves and pictures. But alot of the pictures are either crap or don't work.

Anyways, You should just download videos and stuff, watch and repeat.

Again, here is the site I was telling you about.

http://rap.about.com/library/blbreakdancecoverpage.htm

And here is another page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakdance

And this one has the actual moves from that very page

Didn't I make a thread about this?

Anyway.
I do kicks and kick variations. (IE L kicks and such. One handed handstand nikes etc.)
Most if not all the basic footwork. (6 step/one legged swipes etc)
I'm practicing flips and springs.
I can also headspin and do a limited head slide.

Well first I would like to say that dancing is an art, not a sport. If you participate in some dance that I don't know about and that dance is considered a sport, fine, but bboying is an art. That being said, this shouldn't be in the "sports" section. However, seeing as how many people, for whatever reason, be it lack of knowledge or something else, categorize bboying as a sport, then I guess for this to reach most people interested in bboying, then it should be in the Sports section. *Whew* that was a long sentence. But now you know. Truthfully, it should not be here. The Arts is where this thread belongs.

Ayway, for those interested in learning how to bboy, here are some great sites to help you get started or to assist you in your current progress.

www.bboyworld.com
This place is a must. Here, you are able to gain knowledge, seek advice, or download video clips of tutorials and of battles. They have step by step tutorial videos for you to learn from. Most recommended.

Bboy.org
Consists of a mainly beginners, but here you can also learn.

and finally, Youtube also has a lot tutorials if you look. For example, you can type in "windmill tutorial" and you should get some helpful results.

Also, I would like to mention to NOT trust about.com , because I've been on that site myself and many of those articles are unreliable and contain some really silly stuff. There's a good number of false information being given out about bboying on that site, so I wouldn't go there for help.

Before ending my post, I would just like to state that I'm not trying to sound arrogant or anything and that I'm just trying to help those who are interested in becoming involved with bboying. I hope this helped.
