translucent backgrounds, how do I get a translucent color? |

Hey everyone!
 Ok, I am totally new at this and I don't have a clue what I'm doing.... And I don't know how to find my past posts on here or anything...  But I have a simple question: How can I get the background color of my entries to be translucent? I have seen it on xangas before where the color for the background of their entries is like a translucent color, where there is still some color there but you can still see the regular xanga background through it....
