My school doesn't have uniforms but sometimes i feel that we should get them. I mean no one would judge anyone else. And you wouldn't have to decide what your wearing every day. But I also feel that we express ourselves by what we are wearing. And it would be a pain the wear the same thing every day. But that's just my opinion. So what do you guys think?

i prefer to have uniforms, that way you don't have to be judged or judge others by their dressing, and you won't have to wake up so early to think of what to wear

We have uniforms. Navy blue/white or khaki only.

And we hate it. Pretty obvious why.

If anyone would like to debate about it, then please go to the debate forum where there is an existing thread about school uniforms.

Uniforms are great. Creativity and individuality can be expressed in many other ways.

I had uniforms back in middle school. But then again, it wasn's strict, since you could wear any regular navy blue pans and a white shirt with a small logo. One could wear a variety of different colored jackets/sweaters.

If my school ever had a uniform policy, they should hav a free-dress day every friday or something. wink.gif

sometimes i think we need them. my friends will pick on some people if they dont have the same brand or "nice" clothes on. I dont think the uniforms will make a difference on it because sometimes the clothes set us apart they sorta tell what our personality is about.

For me, Uniforms are pretty tight. They prevent the whole " Oh my, gosh! that outfit is so last year " & it helps you save up money. Plus, You get to sleep longer. Because you're not wasting your time, worry-ing what to wear. =]

But then again, they shouldn't overdo the uniform. For example, jackets&socks. Crap, my school has that. The horror. [sigh]

I support your opinon, but I don't at the same time.
Uniforms are a great way of letting people not judge other people by the way they dress, though they still do by their hair, and the way they look. =x

I dont agree because us kids need the freedom to be fashionable and creative about what we wear everyday.

I'm 50/50 on this. Sure, I like picking out what clothes to wear, but it would be cool if we had Japanese school uniforms at my school. I mean, I wouldn't spend close to an hour figuring out what to wear.

Besides, half the kids in my school just throw on whatever is clean. You can express your creativity somewhere else like in art and writing.

My school has uniforms, junior uniform and a senior uniform~

I like my senior uniform(white short sleeved button up shirt, a red tie and grey skirt), it looks pretti good compared to some others I've seen around. It also saves big bucks for me. I don't have to buy clothes that often~
We sometimes have non-uniform days so I guess it doesn't suck all that bad.....

we have a strict dress code, kinda like very flexible uniforms. but i don't care, i've worn uniforms my whole life.
i think lenient uniforms would be nice, not too strict on everything.

Sometimes I think about the benefits of having uniforms.. and then I think of how much I actually like choosing what I where. I remember having uniforms back in my OLD elementary school, I can't remember them being that horrible but they were pretty ugly.

My school has uniforms. I really don't mind it. And its not like we where them all the time. We DO have days where we can wear our own clothes. And the uniform skirts are a blast, cause a girl can always look cute in them. Its like wearing a regular plaid skirt.

My school has uniforms, khaki or black non jean pants, work boots, a belt *no florescent colors* and the green polo shirt. I love it becuase it takes me 5 minutes toget ready in the morning, but then again it would be nice to be able to express ourselves. We don't get to wear skirts and we have a gym uniform as well. But that is becuase we are a technology school and we work in labs with heavy machinery. But I guess I am lucky becuase on Fridays we can wear ANY shirt we have that pertains to the school, like shirts that you buy at the dance or at prom. And once a month we have dress down days where you can wear whatever you want for a dollar.

at my middle school, we had to wear uniforms. but then they got rid of them because over 50% of our school was not wearing them. but at now i am in high school and i think that sometimes we need them. because some people dress really bad and stuff like that. _dry.gif but i don't think we should be people think that is take away from our freedom. rolleyes.gif

its alright. i'm used to it...my elementary schools had them and the high school i'm at has them too. they're not that bad. no decisions for what to wear in the morning and no judgements and what not and we do get our days when we can wear what we want.

hm. i was fortunate to not go to school where uniforms were required, but i had to write a paper on my stand on it. For an creative basis, it isn't fun because you can't express your 'individuality', however, you can express it in other ways than just how you dress AND you can express that when schools out and on weekends. Another point is that your parents save a LOT of money not having to buy new clothes so quickly and often because you wear uniforms. I do agree with having a free dress down day, that would be great. But if you look at it this way, as soon as you are done with school, you'll never have to wear a uniform again and you have the rest of your life to express yourself to everyone in the world! NOW that's great. tongue.gif

well i wore uniforms in middle school. it was pretty god cuz you save A LOT of money and people cant joke you about your clothes except your tie(but i wasnt worried about being joked about my clothes or anything). But uniforms has its cons, you get tired of it and when u want to go out to the mall or something like in a friday u'll have to go all the all home and change.

i think it would be great to have uniforms becaue nobody could make fun of someone else because of what they're wearing: they'd be insulting themelf! also my mom wouldn't yell at me to hurry up when i'm trying to decide what to wear.. cool.gif
currently though my school doesn't have uniforms.

you make the point that there is a good and a bad of school uniforms.
but i dont like school uniforms... my school doesnt have any.
we get to express ourselves with what we are wearing but we do have to follow the dress code--- like no other peircings other than on the ear, not too much makeup, no rude of offensive clothing or clothing that promote drugs sex alcohol, no stuff that are too revealing.... etc.

i like uniforms cause there are some girls that are ... yea anyways and they wear wayyyyyy to little clothing or they wear clothing that is 100000000000x too small for them. kinda gross (not trying to be mean but its true) atleast for uniforms if they tried to get a small size in the uniforms the teachers could say something about it.
and i like them cause my friends are always teased about what they wear or they blame the reason why guys dont notice them is cause of the clothes they wear. so i think that if we had uniforms and everyone was the same that they would have more self confidence.
maybe if we had uniforms we could have like casual friday or something

School uniforms should die.
Dressing your own way shows your own style and your personality. Uniforms totally ruin it. And also. Uniforms are expensive; and you had to buy it, you'd have to buy atleast like 2 uniforms for the whole week. If the uniform was like $30 for one, and you had to buy 2.. it's $60. And what if you had like 2 sisters that also need uniforms?

^ i agree, uniforms can get pretty expensive.. >__<

My old school had to wear uniforms but then after I moved, the only thing that I had to do was tuck in my shirt. My principal at my highschool now wants to enforce the dress code and was talking about making us wear uniforms. Personally, I don't see a problem with wearing uniforms- but no matter what people say, I don't think that it affects a student's behavior. My old school, we all wore uniforms but there were more fights there than there is up here.

i guess it'll be boring having uniforms, but then nobody will be able to judge you. maybe people will pay attention to the qualities of other students rather than the appearence. in that case, it'll be good...

but then again..the only days you'll be able to wear normal clothes will be on the weekends and afterschools...

i guess uniforms are good. i wouldn't mind if my school got them.

If my school ever had a uniform policy, they should hav a free-dress day every friday or something. wink.gif

my school used to have that, free dress every last friday of the month.

but ever since new principal, you gotta earn it, and all these rules came up.
IMO, its not the uniform that sucks -- for anything i like it (i dont have to buy new clothes all the time and worry about if someone's gonna bag on me), it's the school that sucks.

I like uniforms, well maybe it's because I'm in jrotc.
The fact with uniforms in school is good so there would be no signs of gangs or anything.
Plus, since most people think uniforms are uncomfortable, they should make uniforms simple and comfortable.

I guess it's okay. Sometimes, it can be a pain..especially when you have to tuck in your shirt. I hate that part...

I wouldn't mind, but I like expressing my "individuality." But people would find other ways.

I'm a freshman and I used to wear uniforms in my elementary school. I liked them because you don't have to worry about what to wear because there's only one thing to choose from.

Most schools have uniforms here. I don't really mind them. In the last 2 years of school we didn't have to wear them because they started treating us like were in college so we had a brief idea of what to expect blink.gif

Lolz!! A lot of you dun like the ideas of uniforms! biggrin.gif
But thats alright.

In Australia, all elementary and secondary schools are required to wear uniform. My uniform........well........doesn't look very good. White short sleeve blouse, red tie, grey skirt, white socks...............for Winter, it be the same except can wear pants or stockings so yea..............
But I'm happy, I've coped with wearing different uniforms for my 13th year and after this year, won't need it nymore!

There are the positive thoughts and negative thoughts about having a uniform as I've pretti much seen it all in here! ^^

i think as a student/individual i would hate them, and in jr high u dont need to be an individual but as a person who isnt as rich as the people who are always best dressed and dont have enough money for new clothes for their kids and its hard on a family to try to match something someone else has especaily *sp* when they have little money for their family

im in middle school so it mite be different from you and my life is based on being an individual or something like that

I agree!! i am still in elementary school and stuff and we have uniforms everyone is so rude they are like " i hate these stupid uniforms i wish the princable didn't deside this" i'm like heyyyy we are really lucky b/c there are alot of ppl that can jugde u and make u cry just b/c the way u dress! i think it is cute.. u can punch in some accesories to match your uniform and make it look cute on u. i go to school wearing uniform duh lol (a skort and a blue t-shirt) and some wrist bands. with a head band in my hair and some vans on my feet. lol i think it looks actually nice. i got used to it since i had to deal with it for 7 years so far _unsure.gif all of those "rude" ppl in my school even started a petition of wearing non uniforms!! i'm like what the heck jeeze can't u wait till the end of school" b/c on the last two days of school we get to wear nonuniform! lol _smile.gif

i think school uniform can give students a sense of belonging to the school, and in most occupations uniform is needed for easy identification and unitedness...better to have one

im kind of in between them. At times i would think its better but then at times i would think that it would just b wrong.

if we did have uniforms for school; then no one would be making fun of anyone's way of dressing and i think less violence would go on. Having uniforms might even increase mny students grades because they wouldnt be so busy studying others way of dressing. Parents wouldnt have to spend so much money on clothes since they wouldonly need to buy two+ pairs of the uniforms for the kids to wear.

But then if we do have uniforms; we wouldnt have the freedom of choosing they way we would want to dress and all of our clothes that we had; it would go to waste. And some religions they have specific types of ways of dressing; some religions wouldnt allow someone to show their bodie parts but then somene uniforms would require to how legs and stuff.

I've had to go to a school with uniforms.
The teachers will still pick on ou about how you're wearing something. So wil te othr kids.
and really, it's no fun because you can't express your individuality.

And once again, if you can only express individuality and/or creativity through the clothes you wear, you're not very unique and creative in the first place.

Uniforms doesn't hinder individuality, they force you all to find novelties in self-expression.

When i was little, i hated uniforms. but i regret that now. I kinda wish my school had uniform. I pretty much dress in a 'uniform' everyday. pants/jeans. with collered shirt/polo.

and i agree. if the only way you show originality is by the clothes you wear, thats not very.. original?

yep. but I'm in a public school. I have never heard anyone, even parents, say that they wanted uniform. so i dont think thats gonna happen here. =P

My school has dress code and it doesn't bother me much, the dress code is pretty flexible.
Uniforms might be too uncomfortable, no dress code would make some people (especially girls) wear too exposed clothes, so dress code (it is like between uniforms and no dress code) would be the best.

Kate wears a uniform. This is a picture on my school's website of some kids (who have all graduated) in our uniform. We were them everyday unless we do something spectaclar, then we don't have to wear them. I guess they're ok, not horribly uncomfortable, however as you can see by this picture, it's a campus. It gets COLD and the school jackets only help but so much

so, i'm anti-uniform.
