Soo... is anyone in here a vegetarian? And if so why?

I am, but its because I want to be more healthy and meat isnt the best thing for you, beef (heart disease) and pork, etc. I really could care less about the animals, there going to get eaten by everyone else anyway right!

i'm not but a good friend of mine is, and her reasons are for the animals sort of but also just the whole idea of producing some purely for the purpose of slaughter.

some of my friends are vegetarian, i love when they are like
tofu dogs! and soymilk! haha i just like meat
rawr they have to get their protein from drinking other things and vitamins.
this one time a guy in my class said "for every animal you don't eat, i'll eat three of them" hahaha it was hilarious.

I used to be in 8 th grade, even though I ate fish and once in a while my mother forced me to eat meat.. pinch.gif This was about 3 years ago... pinch.gif I used to be an animal lover...

Then in 9th grade (2 years ago) my boyfriend started eating meat and he tried to get me to eat some. The thing was that everything he ate tasted so good. pinch.gif And then I quit my vegetarian ways.

Nope, i am not a vegetarian and no one dont have to be vegetarian. you can eat less meats and eat alot of vegetables. Mostly likely, you wont get heart disease or high cholestrol *. Our body needs protein and nurtitions from animal too.

Well, you could also eat fruits, breads, etc., not just vegetables. Also, one could always add artificial flavoring or sauce to tofu to make it more tasty. :]

Soymilk is pretty delicious, by the way. And I LOVE tofu eggrolls. They're delicious happy.gif I find them more tasty than regular eggrolls. If only my mom would make them more, instead of the meat ones. sad.gif I LOVE TOFU EGGROLLS! They're also known as veggie eggrolls.

But of course, I'm not a vegetarian anymore anyway.. I should become one again. But then my boyfriend (a HUGE meet-lover) would be eating steak, chicken, etc. and make me crave for it. =X

.. Tofu has nutrition in it as well. mellow.gif Who are you to say that you can't get any of the vitamins/nutrition/minerals/etc. from other foods? Plus, one could always take vitamin pills. It's been done before.

I used to take calcium pills when I used to not drink milk.

It's nice you want to be more healthy. But you have to think of the animals and you wouldn't eat your dog or cat or if you have any other animals. Also who cares if everyone one else is going to eat them dosn't mean you have to. So obviously i don't agree with killing animals just for some fat person sitting in frot of their television set doing nothing.

I agree with you broadway-aholic. I was but i sarted because i got sick but i gave up chicken and pork. So i guess people should do what they can to help the poor animals.

I am a vegetarian, i have been since I was eight. The original reason was actually kind of tramautic. I used to have a pet pig at my uncles farm upstate, one year when I was visiting i couldn't find her. At dinner I asked where she was and my uncle said on my plate, and in my stomach. I've stayed a veg because it is a lot healthier, and the fact that I would be eating flesh just nauseates me

i'm not vegitarion...but i respect vegitarian's reasons...its not like "oh its just going to be eatin anyway right" its more of a personal protest, saying that you won't goto the limits to satisfiy yourself by eating other living things...well thats my veiw on it.

my sisters a vegitarian though...shes sooo skinny i'm so jelouse >.<.
i wish i could be one, but i don't think i could sacrifice meat...

I'm not.
But I know someone who is, but she's on a loosely vegetarian diet.
Cause of the animals.

Me? Well, I think meat gives you protein and stuff, and as much as I care about animal slaughter, I would rather live longer than to let animals.
Not that I don't care about them, but I hate vegetables.

I was a vegeterian for about a month because when madcow disease started. I didn't even wanted to touch any meats because I thought it wasn't just cows. So I was scared to eat the other meats. But now it's over heehee. So I'm not a vegetarian anymore.

I'm trying to be vegetarian. Actually I was suppose to be vegetarian this week.
Except I ate spaghetti (THE DELICIOUS SPAGHETTI my sister rarely makes) and that kinda killed it.

It's because of the animals. Not because of any disease, or anything like that. It's the animals.

I was last year. I wasn't balamcing out my nutrition properly, and my diet consisted of cheese, sugar, and more cheese. I lost so much of my hair and I lost so much weight. I stopped mentrating too.

I'm healthy now, though. Though I am still missing a lot of my hair..

I don't like calling myself a vegetarian - not sure why.
I haven't eaten meat in months though, I can't remember why I did it origionally, I think I wanted to try it out and see if I could do it and I just never stopped. When peopel offer me a meat dish I say "No thanks, I'm not eating meat" becuase if I said "I don't eat meat" then when I was in an eat-cow-or-starve situation I wouldn't be able to eat it. Or my mind is just screwed

I don't like the idea of eating animals, or the way they're bred then often inhumanly killed so they can be served up to me on a plate pinch.gif

You know that scientifically, humans were intended to be vegetarians but for some reason we just started eating meat.
I am not a vegetarian.

I would be a vegetarian, but really love chicken...cuz i hate chickens. Long story. I love all other animals...it makes me sad to think of them once being alive...*sigh* But I love love love fruits, so if I stopped eating meat, I would be a fruitarian really huh?

Eh...I detest vegetables. I'm more of a junk food person. I know, it's horrible for you, but...oh well. I'll change my ways when I get older most likely.

Have fun while your young, when your older thats when you have to worry about it pinch.gif

And to answer the question.

I've thought about it, but I dont know, giving up meat would be hard..

I am, because of the slaughtering of animals, and because it's the way I was raised. My daughter isn't exactly vegetarian, but it would be cool if she was. The only meat she really eats is chicken nuggets, so it's cool

I am lactose intolerant (so i got use to eating soy stuff) and i don't like meat (just because of the taste), but i wasn't about to become a vegan.... So I force myself to eat meat, not because i hate animals, but because i hate plants..lol

No. There is really no reason to become a vegetarian. The animals are STILL going to die if you don't eat them.Meats are part of our dialy diet and we do need to consume meats. So honestly, I really don't see why people want to become vegetarians.

Kay. Firstly there are many reasons to become a vegetarian.

1 - Religious reasons, if you think God exists and made the earth animals and people and we're supposed to be stewards of the earth or what vere you may feel you should respect the animals by not having someone skin them and then process then into a breadcrumbbed chunk for you when you can eat the beans and stuff he created for you. {{I'm not religious, it's just a reason why someone could be a veggie}}

2 - Moral and Ethical reasons, do you really think it's right to destroy a life and eats it's body. If you don't like war/murderers then don't be a hypocrite. Also, maybe you dont' like the cruel way in which they're often killed (not always but way to often)

3 - Health reasons, I'm not sure if there is a name for it but some peopel just can't eat meat.

"The animals are still going to die anyway"
Yes, but naturally after a long, happy life, not after ashort while after a caged life and painfull death

We don't NEED meat, we can live fine without it. I don't eat it and I'm fine, millions of other vegetarians and vegans dont' eat meat tand they're all hunky-dory. I read somewhere that if you dont' eat meat for 20 years you'll live an average of 3 years longer than if you ate meat.

I became a vegetarian about a year ago because I am against slaughtering living things just so people who don't need meat anyway can eat them. Here are some good reasons to become one: here

I would be if I could give up chicken.

or if a whole lot of other people did, so i thought it would actually matter if I quit eating meat.

I think I would be able to give up pork and chicken, but not so sure about cow. I love my carne asada. I tried giving up meat for my major religions class at school, I lasted a week. Longer then I expected!

Close, but not so much. I don't really eat dark meat, I've reached the point that it makes me sick if I have to eat it.. I eat chicken though, thats it. I've never exactly liked pork. I think the main reason I ever did it was to be healthy and then after a while you just get used to it.

I’ve been a vegetarian for a year and half now. I actually started a week before Thanksgiving. My reasons are simple: I don’t like the taste or consistency of meat and I believe the way animals are slaughtered is not only against nature, but is inhumane. I eat lots of vegetables, cheese, and fruit. I try to eat all organics, but that can sometime get pricey. Living in Texas it’s hard to be a vegetarian, especially since my friends are such carnivores. I manage though and they’re pretty supportive. happy.gif

Actually I became a vegetarian by accident when I was 8 or so. Before I didn't know that meat was from killing innocent animals. cry.gif

I was dieting for a long time by just eating vegetables and no meat. Later I just couldn't eat meat anymore.

I want to be, but I've always eaten it... it'd be hard to change. And even if I did stop eating meat, my parents are still going to cook the same amount of meat for dinner, regardless if I'm eating it or not.

But maybe when I'm older and on my own.

I'm kinda semi-vegitarian.

I never really eat red meat,
and only eat chicken and fish maybe like
once every 2 weeks now.
I do it more for health and stuff. . .

though right now i would kill for chicken sandwhich.
[sorry]
