Bush banning anime from the USA!, a rumor and letter from the undersigned Options

I was at my friend's xanga just earlier and found this post about Bush banning Anime forever from the United States of America. Some moron who disguised his/her name as "The Undersigned" as written a letter to the President demanding him to BAN ANIME FROM THE STATES. Here's the letter:

To: George Bush

Here in America, we live in a climate of moral decay. What is the cause of this? It is called "anime". Anime is a perverse, evil, insiduous form of animation from the dark land of Japan, and is corrupting America's youth at unprecedented rates. Here are a few examples of anime which are circulating on the Internet and may very well be in your home:

1) Ah My Goddess: A sick and disgusting show which causes children under the age of 18 to think they are capable of love. The main female character is clearly under 18, and is forced into a romantic relationship by an older man who "wishes" for her to be his girlfriend forever. He even KISSES her, and she appears NAKED. That poor girl must be so confused.

2) Love Hina: I'm not even going to mention the unspeakable, disgusting, pedophilic, pornograhpic events which transpire during this show, but suffice it to say, groups of young men on Love Hina-fueled rampages are raping children at a level unheard of since the 60s.

If you are a parent or a decent human being, I urge you to sign this petition to ban all forms of anime in the United States. Anyone who is found in possesion of anime should be arrested and jailed for an exhorbant period of time. Anime is a dark scourge upon our beautiful nation, and we don't need this Japanese filth corrupting the hearts of the children.

As a resonsible Christian, I demand to see this garbage removed from our nation. Please sign this petition and send it to George Bush, your Congressman, and the makers/distributors of anime filth and depravity.

I can understand the person's reasons for writing this, but I feel that(and this is for all shows) banning things will, first create a lot more problems with bootlegging, and economic down fall, and second, cultural defusion would not take place, and the sharing of certain ideas will not go from place to place.

First off, the manga book has slightly some nudity. But in the ACTUAL anime, it's not as explicit. Actually, I WATCHED the anime and trust me, it's not as what others may say it to be. There obviously would be a rebellion considering tons of people in Japan are making money from showing their cartoons in the US. And the people in the US enjoy anime as well. Just because there's a few people (which is definitely a minority) that dislike anime, doesn't mean that Bush is going to say "Oh, these people don't like anime? Well let's make it illegal to watch Japanese cartoons!"

It's a bit of prejudice if I can say so myself that they're assuming all Japanese cartoons are like this. Because they're not and it's a stereotype that they are. The writer only points out 2 shows that may not be the best shows in the world, but they do have good aspects as well. If people don't like anime, they shouldn't watch it. A lot of what this person is complaining about is just from culture shock.
I'm a conservative Christian and don't always agree with the kind of content on some anime shows, but I'd never go so far as BANNING it.

This sounds like one big internet rumour to me. Just like the other day my sister got all freaked out saying she read on some sight Bush was going to ban Greenday cause someone slipped American Idiot on his ipod.

Well first off, lol, Bush can't ban Anime all by his lone-some. He has to bring the attention of Congress, and maybe the Supreme Court if I'm correct. If he doesn't, then he would still also have to ban "The Avatar: The last airbender" for it to be justified. Seeing as in that letter he states that "Japan is a dark land", he must also say that America is a dark land, for producing an All-American Anime show (The last airbender). I'm not totally sure that The last airbender is totally American, but I think it originated from America. If Bush was to have to also ban American Anime, then our economy might be affected, and no one wants that lol. :P Anyway, if I'm right or wrong, I'm sure Bush would not pay attention to something as idiotic as that. He may be Bush, but he didn't become president being stupid. So, those are my thought lol. I find the whole thing funny now, but when I logged into my Youtube account, and a friend had sent me a mail saying anime was being banned I was freakin out lol. But I'm okay now.... I really am :P. I also made an account at this site, just so I could post this extremely long post about someone which clearly doesn't need to be posted on. By the way, I'm not a nerd, I just have a little better typing skills than others I suppose. Anyway, I've dragged this out long enough. Goodbye peoples. Anime is awesome... Seriously.
