Well...in Cantonese it's more like:
deem SUM. Does that answer your question? I guess people read it as "dim sum", like...as in "Tim", but it's really like "been". |

Well, the english way is to say it (without and accent) "dim sum."
I like to pronounce it as "deem' sam" accentuating "dim" :D I think most Chinese know what I'm talking about. ![]() |

I say it in the canto way, cantonese accent but its kinda pronounced as the spelling except the pitch of the voice saying it is different, than just saying it in English.
