okay okay.. i used the search engine but all i put in was study and all i did was read the topics.. and i saw none like this so yeah.. if there still is a topic out there like this.. well just close this.. anyways, by tuesday i have to remember all my notes for science because my science teacher is giving us around 3 tests each class for i don't know what reason.. i guess he wants to make it hard because now it's for our third term mark.. so yeahsss, i wanna know the best way to study because memorizing isn't working for me, it really hurts my head and i always forget it afterwards.. so yeah, how do YOU study?

hmm, it depends on the subject i guess. mostly, i just read over my notes a lot and try to understand what i've written, and memorize anything. sometimes, i'll make flash cards or something.

Yes, it really depends on what subject. For Math, I just redo a lot of problems in the math textbook and memorize all the terms and information. For other subjects, I just try to read and memorize important points.

And i use word association alot...like when i had to memorize the elements and their symbols a couple of years back i would be like

Fe=iron. because FErris wheels are made of iron

lol stuff like that

1. visit to the libarary
2. find the most quiet lonely seat in the libarary
3. open your note/ text book or whatever your studying for ..
4. write down the facts for each part, header or catagories ..
5. while writing down the facts, try to remember what u just read ..
6. after your done writing down the facts .. review what u wrote ..
7. study it and remember it ..

It depends on the subject. If it's for science, make sure you understand all the facts. I don't know, really.

the best way is to, as someone already said, UNDERSTAND what the stuff is.
if its just dates or names or something, its harder. with names i try to like make a word out of the name-- when i was doing the revolutionary war and and to remember that a guy named Holden had a newspaper, i thought that 'HOLD'en because people 'hold' newspapers... stupid but it worked.
with dates just say them aloud a bunch of times. say them like 5 times every 5 minutes over the course of an hour, so they stick in ur head. good luck!

studying is easy, provided you follow this short list of don'ts:

- Don't go within 100 feet of the computer
- Don't listen to music that will make you listen to it
- Don't watch TV; studying takes literally 10 times longer
- Don't put your textbook under your pillow; it only makes your neck sore... osmosis doesn't work with information
- Don't forget to take home your subject binder/folder/textbook

Then you plop yourself down and memorize by reading many many times... or in the case of math or anything else that needs practice, do the hardest problems in the chapter and go easier xD

I don't.
I absorb the necessary info when my teacher gives lectures.
It's easier that way.

memorizing doesnt work, you have to GET it.
like in math, if i don't know how to do a problem, then i, most likely, wouldn't know how to do it on a test either right?
look up words AND write sentences for words you dont get, and UNDERSTAND the information you're studying.

I cram fifteen minutes before a test. I remember things better like that, while it's still fresh in my mind.

First , you need to actually understand what you read. Don't just read for the sake of it , you understand ? And, you should ABSOLUTELY 150% listen to the teacher lecturing. Don't take notes while he/she is talking. You'll miss some details. Just absorb and ask questions that you don't get. For studying and memorizing, what I do is find things that kinda relate to the word. For example, vacuoles clean the thing in the cells or whatnot right? Vaccum kinda sounds like vacuoles. Chloroplasts are the green cells that capture energy from the sun I think. Chloroplasts sound like chlorophyll, a green pigment found in plants. So, that's just how I do it. If that doesn't work, make flashcards!! They really do help. Trust me. If all else fails , then sleep on it.

I study that morning before class starts. It's easy because my teachers go over the stuff really well so there is really no need to study at all. But repetition and verbal quizzing is a good way to study..flash cards..group studies (not with the talkative friends though hehe)..and persuaving the teacher to go over the lesson again to take up class time is a great study technique, so there's no test! happy.gif

Here is mine, and works out perfect XD

1. Study 3 days before a test/quiz
2. Get away from comp, acutally turn it off, stay isolated, NO MUSIC
3. Do the problems, write it out
4. I talk to myself when i work on problems, or read
5. Take notes, or so sample problems
6. Take a 15 mins in between eac hsubject i study XD

Yah, thats my technique ermm.gif

try these methods:

DONT WAIT TO THE LAST MINUTE (i need to take my own advice on that one)
understand the material

how to study for anything but math:

read your notes out loud, in your head, or write them several several times.

change the order of your notes around. that way your remembering the information.

you can make index cards

come up with stupid words to remember things. example: in french class i had to know the word le chat (pronounced le shat) which is cat. cat looks like ( and rhymes with) chat, so its easily remembered. or.. in math i had to know the order of operations.. so please excuse my dear aunt sally worked for that.. which is actually paranthesis exponents multiplication division add subtract

give yourself quizzes to see if you know it << helps a lot

how to study for math:
do problems out of all the sections, (usually the same kind ones you do for hw.. but NOT the same exact problems you do for hw) and do chapter review problems.
i get a's, so all this stuff must work somewhat lol

i won't study my quizzes until the last minute! but it works and i hv a high grade. lol. (but except for exams)

i prefer short term memory and sometimes revise my books for twice be4 the quizzes.

however, i will practise my maths and amaths in my free time.

also, i will study the subjects i like first.

I read shorthand (the professional kind, not the internet kind) off paper, in the form of study guides usually. Or sometimes I just read my notes and just try to drill it in my head. And then I always blank out before the test. mellow.gif
