Born Young, Die Younger
By: Savannah Harrison Another story with a sad ending, Another tear-stained face outside a windowsill. A hero, that again, has gone to waste, And his princess...left for years and years. Just another reason why we all have nightmares, Just one more circumstance to make us cry. In the beginning, things were horrible, In the end, we've long since died. Another blue sky lost in darkness, Another star that will soon burn out. A child, herself, that is now a mother, The father...that has already left town. Just another book that's already over, Just one more sentence torn to shreds. In the beginning, they both thought it alright, In the end, nothing was left fine. Another drop of blood that falls from misused skin, Another wound that will not be hidden. A boy, still young, who has lost the will to live, And those that are destroyers...always shunning him. Just another reason why they say we live in sin, Just one more scar engraved in bitterness. In the beginning, we were born young, In the end, we die younger. Another "The End" to a story that has yet to begin, Another "Goodbye" that will never say hello again. A young girl, stessed, fearing the ring of a phone, And the voice that will yell at her for not coming home. Just another reason to ignore the social code, Just one more vigilante bound toward the trend. In the beginning, we were perfected, In the end, we were still not protected. Another smile that ends as a frown, Another awkward silence in which we all drown. A mimicking shadow, unseen in the night, And the children that run from fear in it's sight. Just another reason we hate to dream, Just one more life lived without sleep. In the beginning, we lived for ourselves, In the end, we live for nothing. Another scream for a non-existant saviour, Another wish never to be granted. A shattered heart that can't be fixed, And the body from which it grew. Just another reason not love, Just one more breath; the last, and the worse. In the beginning, we were born young, In the end, we die so much younger... |

Amazing. Simply a work of art. I love how everything flows, the concept, the figurative language. It's just perfect

Thank you everyone. I wasn't expecting such positive feedback, but I'm glad for it.
