my parents always compare me to other people so they can imbue some good sense into me, yes it's for my own good, but it really gets annoy especially when i just had a busy day, also, it seems like they don't have confidence in you and i feel like i am always not good enough.
my dad for example, he is like an expert on it, he used the " 'bad kid' who got less than 1200 on his sats and now he is going to community college....." example ever since i came to US, and he compares me to all his friend's kids or just random high school salesclerk who works at wal-mart etc. and he would often point to those over achievers in the newspaper, like the girl who got perfect score on her ACTS and go "why can't you just be just like her?? She is only 16, and you only have a year to prepare for those standard tests......" At least my mom is not that bad... I hate it when they compare me to other people I am sure that most of your parents do the same thing too. |

My mom ALWAYS compares me to my cousin, its so freaking annoying, she's always like "she's so smart" "she's so tall" "she's so well-behaved" IT'S SO ANNOYING. Though my cousin's parents compare her with me too, in the opposite way my parents compare me with her.

Yes, my mom ---- all the time. But I don't think my dad has ever said that to me. Just my mom.... it's pretty annoying, but she won't stop cause she thinks it's the right thing to say to me...

Anyways she compared me to my old so called friend, emily... she said that emily is very smart, she works her best at her work...and then she tells me that i never try hard... >.<;; T____T;; im just really not in a great mood and she says that. she loves to say lots of negative words, all those put-down words. but my dad is always saying positive words. my mom thinks it's fun to say all those negative words to me. she talks to me like im a loser and doesn't know anything at all   well yeah i still need to learn, i mean im not a grown-up

Yes, my dad in a good way says how much better I am than my cousins and other kids my age, but my mom always compares me to my smart chinese cousins who get 100 in math, nad I'm a really bad math student so it makes me feel dumb, especially when my brother is so smart and gets good averages and always get prasied when my family meets for dinner and then it's just like, yea hes so great and then I'm, "ehh doing alright". Grr I hate it

Everyone at my school is really smart, so my parents don't compare me to anyone. Now they just send me out with my friends whenever they can so I can be "white-ifed" (aka cultured I guess)

Pssh, of course! My half-sister was Salutorian at her highschool and I have to live up to that.
If I get on the top 15, maybe my parents will stop comparing me to people. And it's not just about school...She compares me to my sister or to other people. That I need to get taller (well sorry mom, but my father was SHORT, so how the hell am I going to get taller?!), that I need to clean my room (just my desk which has all this schoolwork on it lol), etc. *sweatdrop* |

they are compare me to other ppl living in a viet family they expevct u to get good grade and get a doctor degree! hard to live up to expectation! but they compare me to the best me me mad and aim for a high goal, they actually trying to help me. |

theyre proud of me when i get good grades, but if i get a bad grade, she compares me to somebody thats really smart. if i say, "but mom, even though i got a 80, my friend got a 62!" shes like stop comparing -_-;; wtf?
