birth control pills, know about them?

alright so im thinkin about taking birth control pills cause the acne thing and i know one side affect is youll prolly get chubbier.

have any of you ever taken them? and if so what were/are the side effects?

I thought you were only supposed to take them if you're going to have sex or if you're sexually active.

Okay... yes it does clear up your acne, no you do not have to be sexually active to take them, yes there is the possibility of some weight gain (from water retention... usually about 3-4 pounds). I've been taking birth control for about 4 months due to some medical conditions. (it was either take the pill or suffer) The first month is supposed to be the "roughest" month. That's when you have this extra dose of hormones. You experience the bloating, acne spike, breast tenderest, slight moodiness, and sometimes nausea. Luckily I wasn't an unfortunate of the side-effects. The positive side to taking birth control is that over time it clears your acne, (if you're on the cyclic treatment) lightens your menstrual flow, and reduces the intensity of menstrual cramps. (plus your periods are easier to predict) If taking the pill is only for an acne problem, see a dermatologist. (unless you have and the pill is their recommendation) Don't take birth control unless you absolutely have to.

no...but I heard that you do get err....gain weight if you take those pills....but w/e..you gain something you lose something....

no i haven't use it... i wanted to but too scared to ask my doctor for it..

the side effects varies for different people...

a freind got it to regulate her period and slow down the acne

another friend got a whole load of acne form them

and another friend is chubby... or maybe she was chubby before anyways...
