I'm not sure wether to post this here in fashion or in debate, or in the lounge, so I decided to post it here in the Lounge, I searched for a topic on this, but came up with nothing but clothing styles and bleh...

But have you ever noticed that the generation clothing is becoming more provocative...more and more...because in Hollister/Abercrombie/Forever 21 and etc...have teeny boppers wearing their club clothing...I have noticed that the teeny kids are wearing shorter skirts, and shorter shirts, and more and more halter tops, and stuff like that?

Why would such kids want to grow up so fast? I dont' have a problem, like "stop wearing clothes like that" or anything, but I just don't understand how they could want to grow up so fast....wearing provocative clothing...isn't the answer for the younger group age...

What do you think about this? What's your opinion...Please don't mistake this as offensive, I just want to know what the opinions of others out there is...Please explain...

The clothes don't bother me as much as the talk.

Little 8 year olds don't need to be talkin about sex and body parts and licking people in 'areas'.

Yeah, a six year old was all up on my friend lickin her and talkin dirty.

She's 15. He's 6. Ew.

their parents need to distinguish between "TV" (ie. what they see britney/christina/other 16+ yr olds wear) and "reality".. sure they have the right to be fashionable and cute, but their parents really need to show them what's appropriate and inappropriate.. my boss' 12 yr old daughter loves clothes and shopping, but she dresses appropriate for her age.. cute t-shirt, capri pants or jeans.. the top is not revealing, but cute..

ultimately it's up to the parents.. parents NEED to set a guideline..

well i dont know if anyone knows this brand.. but its really popular in canada. mainly vancouver calgary and toronto.. cause those are the only places this store has franchised.. anyways its called TNA ... these clothes are like lululemon yoga pants. so these pants you usually have to wear a thong cause its so tight.. so think about it.. a 11 year old kid that has the tinyest waist goes around w/ these pants ...so you know they are either wearing a thong or they are going comando.. which is gross.

I know exactly what you mean. Alot of the kids at our local middle school dress in the tightest jeans & tightest tops from Abercrombie & Hollister. I remember when I was in Middle School (which wasn't too long ago) I wore jeans, converse and a t-shirt. Nothing like the girls do now. Even the freshman this year are dressing like hoe's. Wtf is with that?

i dont think there is any problem with the guys, it all has to do with the girls and self esteem. society has come to make us believe no one will like you unless you look sexy...there has always been provactive clothes in stores, i blame this on mtv, magazines, celebreties (the idols of every kid in america) i miss the mary tyler moore days!
any way i heard about this movie called "thirteen" that is out, and i really want to watch it, it talks about this very topic we're discussing here, and how girls with suck d**k and take it up the ass so willingly while dressed like 10 cent hookers with tongue rings and etc.
im disgusted just thinking about this -_-

theres no such thing as "dress your age" there isn't a certain kind of clothes for a speciific perosn depending on their age...
tho i do find it sick how little girls with no breast are wearing these tank tops where you need boobs to strut it. anyways if thats what they see in the stores what else are they gonna buy? where do you wnat them to shop? and IF they were so small wouldn't their parents be shopping with tjem? if so, i guess their parents allows them to wear such clothes why should you say its not right...

What's wrong with gap or old navy for kids?

I agree. This past summer I babysat a 9 year old girl and one day she showed me what she had bought over the weekend and she pulled out a thong that she had bought along with some junior sized clothing that was definately not made for a 9 year old. What the eff... she is 9 years old. I couldn't believe her mom bought her that. It just disgusted me.

not necessarily skirts in general but you know what, i'm going to be blunt. it doesn't matter if its 'cool' or 'in'...but thats not the point. its not wearing a skirt its when you dress like your 16 years old or older and you look like a ho. thats what pisses me off. _dry.gif

i certainly agree with all you kiddos, except for dttmdancer like stephinika said, it's not about just the 'cool thing' or the 'in' thing but it's more of the dressing of like a skank, whore, or slut, the terms used by your elders. Clothing of this, is more of whether it's revealing or too much for older people rather than for kids, like a thong? for a 9 YEAR OLD? OH HECK NO...what are these parents thinking? and there is definately nothing wrong with OLD NAVY or GAP! GAW...the future generation is lost...sorry to say...they think that OLD NAVY and the GAP aren't cool. well news flash, not everything has to be cool...HA!

i think it's cause the 11 year old teeny boppers are being more exposed to trend-following things. it's not only about fashion yannouw? they have enormous attitude towards their elders now. it's annoying.

I agree, I was thinking about what you said too. It's all because of magazines and celebrities changing your self- image to try to have the perfect body and be sexy and everything, but when you're like 10 it doesn't really work too well, you just gotta wait...

Before you all post about how all the middle school girls dress as sluts, you might want to think about who reads your posts...

Not all little "middle school whatever you call them" people dress like skanks, just incase you all had that impression.

every generation is growing up faster and faster. I have an 12 year old aunt (dont ask) and the other day she wanted to wear this shirt that had nothing down the middle so her lil boobies would be all over the place. I really dont get it....at her age i was thinking bout looking sexy...never even crossed my mind. i dont understand it at all.

today we're not saying it's not OKAY for kids to shop in stores like Forever 21, Abercrombie & Fitch, etc.. but we are saying it's not okay for kids to dress like they're ready for sex when they're only 8.. for them to wear thongs to show off their ass cheeks, or a skirt that's only 2 inches long.. and their butt cheeks are hanging out.. and having their whole midriff showing.. i mean, they're 8 year olds.. they're not 21 year old girls going out clubbing and trying to pick up guys and getting guys to buy them a drink.. but that's what a lot of us are seeing and it's REALLY gross.. yea fashion for kids have totally changed since my time but it doesn't have to be so sexified..

i'm torn! i think that, yes, some youngsters were wearing some things that my mom wouldn't approve of but i don't know. the stores put them on display but it is the kids that buy it.

oh in 5th grade, there was this girl wearing a thong from abercrombie and all the parents wigged out! pinch.gif

Living in southern california... you see it everywhere. It amazes me how their parents actually but it for them. Most of those kids are probably little spoiled brats. They see it on tv or music videos. They want it, and their parents but it for them. _dry.gif

i am. i went shopping with my 12 year old sister the other day, who will ONLY shop at abercrombie..not even hollister or anything, JUST abercrombie. stubborn.gif and we went to the back and she was like "don't tell mom i'm buying this.." and it was A FREAKING THONG. i was like "no put that down, you are not buying a thong." and she's like "well you bought like 2!" WTH? i'm almost 15, and i bought them for poms cause we have tight pants ermm.gif i don't wear them usually, no one sees my underwear and they're uncomfortable.

it disgusted me. i hate people like my sister. she uses my straightener and curling iron, and it's like, in 7th grade?? i didn't do anything to my hair in 7th grade. she's gonna be my age, and be one of the people i hate in my school. and the way she acts..all my friends in my grade (when she's a freshie, i'll be a junior) will have sex with her, but she won't get a bf. and what's funnier is they'll tell me about it, and then my mom will freak and she'll get in trouble and wonder what made her such a slut. rolleyes.gif

but the stores are at fault, too, not just the kids. abercrombie kids disgusts me.

*shudders at the thought*

You sister is scaring me.

I don't want to know what my sister wears. I see enough of it at school. Even from the MIDDLE SCHOOLERS.

I am grossed out by that stuff.

If you ever see that, just say 'Pull up your pants, Crack kills'

I see these kinds of kids all over NYC. Really digusts me. The parents who buy their kids those disgust me too, letting their little daughters running around the streets like that.

what age range is this all about?
it annoys me to see especially elementary school kids wearing stuff like that. by the time they get to middle school, it's okay i guess, but it depends what is the actual shirt they are wearing. seeing a 6th grader in some spaghetti strap tank top and super short short hollister shorts or something will irritate me. such young kids these days are totally being exposed to all this explicit stuff they shouldn't be seeing. whatever happened to the good old days..

oh god. i remember limited too back in the day. (well, like..8 years ago) it was nice. and innocent.

now..at limited too..their skirts are copy cats of abercrombie and they've got the shortest ones. ah. its weird seeing little 10 year old bodies wearing 20 year old clothing.

hey u have a point. but also remember. Kids r growing up... as in size. they can sometimes only fit those clothes that those stores sell.

maybe thats why they end up wearing such clothing.

also blame the parents. who obviously buy that for them. and think its cute ermm.gif

I guess its the fact that they think that wearing revealing clothes will get them noticed.

sixth grade girls at my school like to wear mini skirts, and hollister, a&f, all that stuff. sixth grade boys like to have their boxers hanging out and wear "gangster" clothing. i think it's stupid. mellow.gif

they should start wearing their baby clothes.

Sammi, I know this was from ages ago, but I think I love you now.
My sister does the exact same thing, except she's... in 6th grade and she's been doing it since 5th.

It's not just the halter tops and the tube tops that are freakishly annoying, it's the prepubescents *trying* to wear the tight jeans at size when they haven't even got size zero hips or butt or legs. _dry.gif
