macromedia flash player..., putting a flash player on ur xanga...

this is my first post... and i'm in school right now (on my laptop)... so i didn't have time to read the rules... and i am sorry if this is illegal in anyway...

but... i was wondering... how do you put a flash player on your xanga site or your personal website?

do you need a special program? like Flash MX 2004 or Flash MX Professional 2004?

i am pretty sure they are used to make the flash... but is the program a requirement to put a flash on your site or is there an alternative way? (b/c i don't have the real program... biggrin.gif ... just the trial version)

if possible, can someone tell me a way to do it both ways? (if both ways are possible...)

You need Macromedia Flash Player in order to view .swf files. It is free at www.macromedia.com.

To make a flash movie, you need Macromedia Flash, which is trialware and retail.

I have other questions...


I always wonder how you copy+paste on a flash? like i right clicked on a flash --- it says like those options button where it says play, stop, pause, etc. I have seen many people posted a flash image in myspace and xanga... but how did they ever did that? if no one answers me, i guess i have to post a topic.

You can't copy/paste a flash. It isn't like a jpg or gif, etc. You must actually find the URL of the flash file, and then plug it into the html script that plays the flash. Then put the html into your xanga, and there ya go.

You look in their source, and use the find feature to query for ".swf". You should be able to find the flash file. If they have their rightclick/highlight disabler on, respect their wishes and don't jock it from their source.

yes i know that you need the flash player to view it...

but i was wondering... how people post / upload a flash movie onto their website?

(sorry if i wasnt clear with the first post... )

errrr..i totally said this in the above posts, but I guess I'll be clearer since no one will bother looking at http://www.google.com.

You need to know the actual file of the flash. The flash file is known as .swf, so anything that has a .swf extension is a flash document.

For example: http://www.atpx.net/atpxbanner2.swf

Or you need webspace, and you upload the flash document, yourself.

Once it is stored on the web, you put this code into your webpage:



And that is it. You replace "YOURMOVIE.swf" to the flash document name.

i've been doing trial and error for creating flash docs so far. But maybe in the summer I'll take some tutorials and classes.

webdesign, i just learn from google. =P

Flash is it's own separate program, so right clicking and copying parts of it is not allowed.

to h2o: I learnt it in school. The basics of flash are pretty easy, just motion tweening, shape tweening those stuff... but I'm sure you'll be able to find tutorials on more advanced stuff on the Internet.

also try using SwishMax or Coffeecup Firestarter. these are two easy to use programs that allow you to create flash designs. happy.gif
