here's something that everyone loves: controversy. in your opinion, what is member bashing? when does one cross the line between expressing an opinion and bashing a member? or do you believe that any verbal expression should be allowed in the forums? just thinking, wondering.

edit: also, i'd like you to be honest: do you enjoy cb drama? do you believe that without drama, cb would be uninteresting? do you think that free posting and conflict makes it a better place?

I dont believe that createblog-gers should be allowed to say anything that they'd like in forums. there has to be a line, but I also think that people need to have enough maturity to handle if someone were to call them chubby. this is only the internet, it's not reality.

My definition of member bashing is not technically an argument, but simply a member that hates another member and expresses his/her hate on the forums.
But what actionrobot_go said is agreeable.

i think that member bashing is being mean to a fellow "createblogger" you can say your opinion and be nice about it but if alot of people are being "mean" to someone, that is probably member bashing.

I don't think we should allow member bashing topic because this community is like a friendly community! we can't ruin that! if members keep bashing each other...... i don't think anyone would want to join?

anyways... my definition for the member bashing topic is... RUDE, unrespectful, not cool.

good point..

i think..

that you are just stating your opinion when its about a sentence, but then member bashing is intentional. like harsh sentences, cuss words, longer..

its more of insulting rather then stating an opinion.

I'd define it as expressing hate toward another member and defaming his/her character. I don't think it should be allowed on the fourms. You might want to bash someone on the fourm but would you like it if the role was reversed? We do have to be mature but you can't forget the golden rule either. You've got to think about it from both ends. Since the community should be welcoming and friendly, member bashing on fourms would start a whole new generation of plague. If you have something against someone on here, take it up privately. Don't let anyone in CB get caught up in it. It could turn nasty..

Hmm... I personally think that member bashing is when one person says something mean about another person. Deliberately.
You could be sarcastic and they may think you were being rude, but in reality.. you could just be a sarcastic person.
Even if you're trying to be funny, member bashing hurts.
Okie, that was off-subject, but anyway.

Deliberately hurting someone's feelings. Or trying to.
Basically stating your opinion in a rude way.

Member bashing is not alloweddddd. Just a reminder.

I think member bashing is where one member says something rude/hurtful to another member. I think people should be able to say what they want, but not turn it into a big contreversy.

think...about it this way..

don't say anything to anyone that you wouldnt like to hear yourself. like i remember someone calling me a bitch.. and then i called her a bitch and she got all uppity about it...

you may think you're just "stating your opinion" but if you KNOW it's going to offend someone, and if they didnt straight out ASK for your opinion, but you say it anyways because it's "funny" or "amusing," THAT'S member bashing. You're disrespecting the other person, and while you think it may be funny, it can also be hurtful to other people.

and i believe most people in members photos.. ok i know everyone thinks people just post pictures to get compliments... but hi.. what if you just took a lot of pictures and wanted to share? that doesnt mean you're looking for compliments or any other opinions.. it means you just wanna show people. so just because they posted their picture, doesnt mean they asked for your opinion, neh? similar to how i post my work up or i submit skins.. i submit them because i think people will enjoy them... i don't necessarily care for your opinion; good or bad.

and dont say anything you'd be afraid to say in the real world

I don't think being rude or impolite to someone is bashing them. It's hard to please people or agree to their unthoughtfulness when they just want you to be on their side of the discussion.

Bashing to me is cursing and putting someone down for no apparent good reason.

that makes sense, but can the members be trusted to accurately judge what is acceptable to say and what is not? i mean, everyone has his or her own definition of what is appropriate.

edit: and almost everyone claims to have a "good reason." a "good reason" could simply be "oh, he/she annoys me."

Agreed.

However, I think we all have enough common sense to judge who is bashing to be plain mean and who is bashing to teach a lesson.... erm... I don't know if that makes sense.

Well, if the person being bashed is annoying on purpose and just want to create a stir, then I don't see why anyone should have to stand for it. sweating.gif

well, often, the person isn't annoying on purpose.. rather, some people tend to dislike the bashee's personality. i mean, we can't just expect the person to change his or her personality, right?

Yes ma'm, that's true.

I don't expect people to change their personality, but I do expect them to know when they're being a cry baby. I guess, that's a little too much to expect.

(random) The word "bashee" cracks me up... yes, I'm easily amused. (/random)

haha well, i don't know. it just seems like we need to establish a concrete definition.. otherwise, the arguing is never going to stop. or maybe that's what the createbloggers want? mellow.gif

Hmm... I guess member bashing would be when someone comes out and says something like.. "you f**king suck... i hate you... go die.. you're ugly..." anything like that. Sure you can tell someone why you dislike them but when you're making personal attacks like that.... Then it's just different. Ehh, I don't know.

I dont think you can ever find a concrete definition because even the most 'concrete' definition of something like "bashing" is really open to interpretation.

like: no name calling

Someone could call someone bitch, and mean it, or call them bitch and not mean it -- i.e. 'you are such a bitch', vs 'i'll see you later, bitch'

but who is to know that the 2nd one isn't an insult? It's all within the eye of the beholder.

I think that we should say f**k the non bashing.

People who don't want to allow bashing are p**sies who know that they're so stupid that they'd immediately get shit rained down upon them from the bash gods residing in the dank heavens of the internet.

but is it reasonable to ban all expressions of hate in the forum?

oh? where have i ever deliberately insulted someone before they even did anything to me first? hm? can you show me one example? just ONE seon ho; if you can quote me ONCE, i'll agree with you, but yknow... 50/50 photographic memory... why 50/50? because i dont remember EVERYTHING exactly... i remember conversations... most things in writing... sheet music... choreography.. i think my chances are better than yours, wouldn't you agree?

rofl and i certainly never say anything that i would be afraid to say in real life.

remember... it has to be a personal attack.. meaning i would have to say the persons name or direct it to them in an obvious manner... if i keep them anonymous, it doesnt count. and if they actually asked for an opinion, that doesnt count either... there was this one chick who asked if she was ugly and i said yes.
