have you ever been in a similar situation?

today my friend and i were hanging out in the mall. then we were leaving a store. and these 2 ladies walked up to us and they're like:
Ladies:"can we talk to you for a minute?"
Me + friend:"ummmm okay?" (we thought they needed directions)
(both ladies grab each of us)
Lady: So are you Christian?
Me: No, but my dad is.
Lady: Oh im so happy for you that your dad is
Me: *nods + smiles because in awkward situation*
Lady: Have you attended church?
Me: Yes.
Lady: And how do you feel about it?
Me: well i'm happy for them since they're so happy to be with God?
Lady: Yes because they're connected to Him. don't you want to be connected?
Me: well im not religious so it doesnt affect me.
Lady: Well are you in school?
Me: yup
Lady: When you need help in homework. who do you ask for help?
Me: My friends and mom
Lady: No of course not, God does because he guides you, he leads you.
Me: o.....k *smiles*
Lady: Come to our church we have a church we rented a room out in a hotel.
Me: that's good for you blink.gif
Lady: you should come this sunday. what is your phone number? so i can remind you.
Me: My mommy doesnt want me to give out phone numbers
Lady: Oh i understand, here i'll give you my phonenumber.
Me: ummm k
Lady: If you ever have any questions about God please phone me and i'll drive you out for lunch
Me: uhhhh k..... mellow.gif
Lady: So you gonna come tomorrow?
Me: umm i can ask my mom to drive maybe? but i doubt it.
Lady: no no dont ask your mom i'll drive you. where do you live?
Me: uhhhh... quite a whiles away from here.
Lady: o well my name is Connie
Me: that's great.
Lady: what is your name?
Me: ummm i have to go pee now. talk to you tomorrow.

then i go to my friend and the other lady
Lady: did you know that you're gonna die!
Friend: ...
Lady: because you're not religious! did you know Jesus died for us? you have to believe in him!
Friend: ...
Lady: you gonna die!

then i grab my friend and we walk away.

im not religious and i don't think i'll ever will be. but i find it awkward when religious people especially christians. (no offense) to that. its kinda weird. you know what i mean? its kinda like they're forcing you in a nice way. that's why i call it Passive Agressive.

also during the summer this guy walked up to my friend and asked:
Guy: Are you Muslim?
Friend: yes.
Guy: o that's bad. can you read arabic?
Friend: yes
Guy: here's the Holy Bible in arabic.
*man walks away*

i find it rude. stubborn.gif

prime example of why i hate (some) christians.

some guy came up to me and my friends on the street and told us about how he got thrown out of china by the police...

i had to walk away, i might have gotten arrested for profanity or public unrest if i had stayed.

don't worry. i don't hate (all) christians. my best friend is a devot catholic. as long as you keep it to yourself... (debate forum is different, express yourself there, and have a nice logical argument about it.)

yea, it's annoying when people force their religion onto you.
not all religious people do that, though.

Ugh, I hate it when all of these people try to force me to convert into their religion, and I do notice that it's mostly Christian people that try to convert us.

I also remember these Mormon people used to come to my house and try to convert me into a Mormon hammer.gif

Ah, I so agree with you. Okay, they come to my house like every 4 months to give us pamphlets about Christianity. This one house on Halloween even gave us a effing pamplet with candy that said how to rise from the sea to the sky (wtf??). Okay, what do they have to do that for. They're handing that out to KIDS. If I wanted to, I could've filed a law suit. But hey. Eh. I dislike Christianity in modern society and what it stands for today.

Yeah, those religious people that come to houses or stand on sidewalks, passing out brochures and pamplets about their church and religious events or clubs that you could join.

I have no problem against Christians, but anyone who is obnoxious about something they're proud of pisses me off. You're proud to be Christian? Great. I'm happy for you. But it doesn't mean you can go around and force people to believe in your religion.

wow, i dont like the way she try to convert you to christians. That is difinitely wrong the way they respect you .... their asking your personal identity and telling you that your going to died. There is no actual proof that Jesus exist. I think you should report to the city council or something.

um, please don't generalize that all christians are like that. in fact, we have no right to force anyone into our religion. she's probably just happy about where she is in her life because of christianity and wants to share that with others. perhaps it's not the right approach, but her intentions are all good.

well this old couple kept coming over to our house trying to teach us stuff abt jehovah's witnesses. and we're like no its ok we don't wanna be converted. but they kept coming back, tyring to get us to read the bible and things like that. and i don't mean to offend anyone, but they're always christians. especially around christmas. i mean yes, spread your religion, but don't force it on other people. i mean, they have religions to believe in, their own god(s), own beliefs. no means no!

hitler had good intentions... he was trying to get germany out of the depression caused by other countries stealing thier money.

good intentions mean little. good actions are great.

(yea... don't debate this... if you want to reply to this, make a topic in debate and i'll be happy to argue there. i think people would get mad if we had a debate here.)

all i have to say about this is that hitler's "intentions" were to wipe out the Jews, he wanted to eventually take over all the other countries... people voted for him because they believed he would get them out of the depression and they couldn't think of any better solutions (and he did improve the economy), but that isn't what was really in his mind. his main objective was, in fact, to create his own empire by betraying allies (stalin and the USSR), killing insane amounts of people, and basically whatever else was needed in order for his goal to be achieved.

further discussion? we'll take it to debate

i agree. plus there are different denominations of christianity, and i'm guessing in some of those denominations they choose to go out and pass out pamphlets and what not on the religion, but that is that specific denomination. it's not fair to say all or most christians do that because, we don't.

I agree. People should let other people believe in whatever they want and not try to convert them, no matter what the circumstances are. Something similiar happened to my mom, one of my brothers and I.

--We were at a store--
lady: Are you Christians?
My mom: Yes Christian Catholics
lady: Oh! Would you like to join me in this prayer?
My mom: Oh ok
Mom, brother, and I: *read prayer from sheet*

the way i see it is that there is a wide spectrum of religious people

you got the crazy religious people and the people that accept people's decisions compeltely and practice religion themselves.

of course you only see the crazy religous people cause they are the ones that will come up to you.

i once saw this littlle folding card that asked you a bunch of questions. and it was like, have you ever lied? (even a white lie?) if you have your'e going to hell. have you ever commited adultery? (lusting for someone is considered adultery by god) or have you commited murder? (hatred is a form of murder) if you have then you're goign to hell.

they try to control you through fear. but the gullible people believe it.

my friend took me to her chruch yesterday, i didn't go because i cared, but i just wanted to get out of my damn house. the guy there was asking people to give names of people who aren't christians so he can "save them". after that, her mom wanted me to pick up a bible.
wtf.
you know why there are different religions, so people can chose the one they WANT to believe in. i hate everyone thinks their religion is right and everyone should follow theirs.

yeah I know people like that.

one of my friends was at the fair. and she has ALOT of piercings
like in between her eyes and her eyebrow and her tongue is split and things like that...so this guy walked up to her and was talking to her about it for like 10 mins. then he was like "so if you died tomorrow would u go to heaven or hell?" and she was like "heaven" and shook her head and he was just really confused.

pretty much he stereotyped her to be a "non-christian" because she has piercings. but shes one of the leaders at my youth church hahahaha

yeah I dont like people like that.
I dont do that. lol

that doesnt sound as bad as it is in taiwan...or where i live, tienmu. there are mormons everywhere. i mean i'm not prejudiced against them, but they scare the heck out of me. they sometimes even ring on your doorbells to preach to you. they even speak mandarin and taiwanese so you can't pretend you don't understand english....and if you get "caught" by them, they'll go on for hours.

Hm, but you're not saying that all the christians are bad and rude, right?

Anyways... it's kinda annoying when those people come and knock on your door...ok so this is how it goes:

old man: so are you christian? are you religious? if so, how about coming to our church this saturday. we're going to talk about God. for 3 hours straight. how about it?
me: o im christian and i already go to a church.
old man: o really? how about coming to our church. our church is much better than yours.
me: (in my mind) wtf? who the heck is this guy?(not in my mind) umm...
old man: it's at 6pm. oh please come. Jesus will be very happy. If you don't come, then you are one bad bad bad girl. He will hate you forever, but unless you COME!
me: umm...... no it's okay. I rather go to korean church than american church.
old man: don't worry, you're not the only asian people there. there's gona be hundreds of asians that will come to our church.
me: umm.... no thanks. btw im a pastor's daughter? so im gona close the door. it was nice talking to you.
old man: you're not a pastor's daughter.. you are a DEVIL'S DAUGHTER! you're not listening to me! *talking to himself* Oh Lord, please help this poor child. there's a devil inside her that needs to be out of her body right now.
me: um... so what are you? a pastor or just trying to help the pastor? because you're annoying me right now. you just woke me up..it's like 7:30 am in the morning.
old man: my brother is a pastor and i'm helping him. so we can have many people come to our church.
me: well good luck with that, im going back to bed. im very sorrrrrry, but i have to sleep.
old man: if you go now, you will get bad nightmares and God will punish you from your dreams.
me: umm not really. are you like advertising God to me?.... I mean God is not a product.
old man: ohh ohhh ohh young lady, now you listen to me. God is precious to us and you call him a product?
me: uhhh I didn't say he was a product...
old man: You're a bad girl!! Very bad girl. Very unrespectful. You will go to hell. It was not great talking to you.
me: umm okay? bye?
old man: lets all pray... (silence)
me: ????? uhhh.........
old man: o dear Lord, blah blah blah blah... ( i didnt really listen to him cause i was so tired ) In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
me: well im gona go back to bed and you go, bye.
old man: you will go to hell... *fades away*

and i close the door on him... o gosh...he was verrry verrrrrrry annoying. i mean im christian!! what's his problem? gez. i mean im a pastor's daughter... gez. i actually remember what he said... well almost cause it was actually funny hehe.

Haha Susan, how aggravating!

dude....seriously, asking ur phone # and shiz? sounded like they wanted to molest you guz or someting.....they offered to take you out to lunch....wwwwooooowww

im a really devout christian myself, and it IS a christians duty to spread the word, but forcing it, no no no no, like back in the day wat the church of england did in africa and inda, thats totally wrong. Our job is to tell the facts, then walk away/or answer quesions, not grab your arm and force a bible down your throat.

wow, what an experience

i have a christian friend who i argue with all the time. i told him i think that no matter what religion you are, you'll go to your heaven if your a good person. he told me the devil was tellings lies to me blink.gif

well, anyhoo, i think religion is a personal thing. shouldn't really be discussed unless the other person is willing

i would have reported those ladies to mall security for harassment

but worse, they could have been those religious fanatics who kidnap ppl, like elizabeth smart. she seemed to eager to get you to that hotel room, without your mom driving you or knowing

Yeah, I don't like it when people do that. They'll keep talking and talking when you've had enough. I'm not saying Christians are bad, considering most of my friends are, but just the really religious people who do that to you can get annoying sometimes.

If we kept it to ourselves then we wouldn't be carrying out the Great Commission. We are called to tell others about our faith.

We are NOT called to try and force other people into believing. There is a difference.

I refuse to be quiet about my faith. I'll tell anyone who asks, and it manages to get involved in a lot of my conversations, but I won't go up to someone and say 'hey, you are going to Hell. go to church, loser.' That isn't right. But neither is keeping it inside.

My stand isn't very politically correct, but neither is what I have to say.

By the way, the ladies from the original post don't sound like Christians. A LOT of the people who go door to door (not all, but a good majority) are not Christians. They are part of cults posing as Christianity, such as Mormonism or Jehovah's Witnesses.

Religion isn't a bad thing, it's just that some people take it WAY too far sometimes.

that has happened to me at least three times. I try to be polite and I always accept their bibles even though I never look at them.
Yes, I find it annoying and rude as well.

and if my religion told me to constantly pester people and tell them they'll go to hell, would that be right?

i've heard jesus's message. i've rejected it. there's nothing left for you to do here, correct? converting me to christianity isn't getting more able ears to hear jesus's message.
so all the christians, if they were truely only on the great commission, would stop pestering me.

but they don't... so they're not just on the great commission.

therefore, the whole thing is rather against religion and shouldn't be done.

Yeah, truthfully, you are not making sense to me. Not that last bit.

I have already said that it isn't right to get up in peoples' faces about their faith/lack of. The people who do are oftentimes not even Christians. What I said was that I do talk about my faith with my friends. If they show any signs of wanting me to stop, I do, as it would be rude to continue.

I do not believe in God, Jesus, Satan or any of it. I am a Satanist. I believe in my self and what I can see. I do not discriminate nor condemn Christians anyway. Your beliefs are just that: yours. I will not preach to you and if you do not preach to me, then I let you be. In my opinion, any religion that attempts to convert people to bolster its numbers suffers from severe security issues.

Lady: Come to our church we have a church we rented a room out in a hotel.

Um..whoa..not cool!

I'm Christian and my church doesn't go up to random people but they rarely go door-to-door..where I live Christians don't do that..Jehova's Witnesses or w/e does that..and yes..it's annoying. On the other hand..those freak ladies are fake! That is no Christian! (I sound weird I know) It's good for you that you walked away..for all you knew they could've been child molesters! blink.gif

Besides the hotel remark..there's some other freaky quotes in your post too..*shiver* that's just weird..but I can't believe that they would use God as an excuse to lure kids into..bad stuff _dry.gif

that actually annoys me a lot.

it happened to this girl in my class yesturday. in math, we got on the subject on churches. this girl in my class is athiest, and my teacher was trying to convert her to christianity. i think people shouldn't try to convince people to convert or anyhting, they should leave the option completely up to themselves..i think its a personal decision...and yeah that is pretty rude in my opinion when people do that..

i hate it when people try so hard to convert you. thers always people coming to my house and holding out a bible and trying to convert me. but that was a while ago, my friend brough me to church one day and im christian now. not because of some stranger that came up to me with a bible and told me to read it.
