Nail Biting, Any Tips? |

I have a really really bad habit. I bite my nails. Its such a nasty habit too. Do any of you ladies have tips on how to quit?

I put fake nails on..then i couldn't bite them anymore...of course when i took them off...i started biting them again....my mom's old boyfriend in high school used to hit her in the face everytime she bit her nails...but i would choose a less....well..physical way to cease your habit

You know what sucks, I try getting my nails done once in awhile and the crappy part is that I chew on those lol.

The wearing nail polish thing doesn't really work for me.
I always have nail polish on, yet I continue to bite my nails. I've never tried fake nails, and I'm not going to. =] I don't like them. Er, so I guess I wasn't much help.. Hmm... Maybe put some nail polish remover on your nails. *shrug* |

I had the same problem a few years ago. I looked at nail polish or ring ads in the magazines with girls with nice nails constantly for a week. I made it my new years resolution so everytime I wanted to bite my nails I would think of all that I worked for to grow them out and stop. It worked for me, I hope it does for you, goodluck!

I never got into the habit it biting my nails, but here's a tip that I think would work:
Put nail polish remover on your nails. It tastes HORRIBLE! I would used to have just taken nail polish off and then like eat yogurt or something and end up having to lick my finger and it would taste soooo bad. So, maybe if you keep nail polish remover on your nails, when you bite it will taste bad and you won't want to bite them anymore??? I dunno... I guess that might work...

I bite my nails :x it's such a bad habit! I got my nails done one time and when I took them off I quit bitting them for awhile but then I ended up biting them again
 There is this nail polish by sally hansen that you put on and when you are tempted to bite your nails it taste really bad! Maybe you can try that. |

i've heard of this special stuff you paint or put onto your nails that make them taste like crap...chew more gum or chew on a pen instead?

I have that habit too. I hate it. Well, i just stop trying to bite them but i heard that their are nail polish that have a bad taste or a spicy taste to them, so that when you put it in your mouth, you can take it out right away because of the taste.

lol.. i have tried using that bad tasting stuff... and i wore it so much i eventually thought it tasted nice but then a friends dad had a talk to me (right before new year) about not believing in something and then it becomes a superstition.. i have a choice to beilieve in 'I bite my fingernails because its a habit" just makeing myself think that it was a superstition stopped me... for now!! LOL!

ehh i still have that problem too
 i hate it! my hands look so gross.. i look at everyone else's fingernails and they are soo pretty.. i keep wantin my nails to look normal but i can't seem to stop bitin them..its hard to stop yourself because its a habit.. like when i'm bitin my nails i don't know it until i actually pay attention to what i'm doing.. confusing.. but YEAH |

Try putting on nail polish :] Like clear ones!! That's how I stopped :] (But never had a BIGGG problem with it)

There's this type of nail polish that helps you quit nail biting. You put it on and when you bite it, it has the grossest taste. Look for it.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. sry sry im not laffing at yur habit but when i was really little, i saw my brother biting his nails so i did the same.. i was like ok that doesnt taste good at all.. but then i got like attached to the habit. but THEN when i was about 7 or 8 i was like "... eww i dont wanna be like my brother.." so i stopped. if yu picked it up from sum1 that yu dont like that much be like ew i dont wanna be like that person. haha whenever i look back on that i find it sooo funny.

i bite my nails too, but my tip is to get your nails done, the solar ones, with french tip or you can pick your own, and then you won't have to worry bout biting them because you wont be able too, but this tip is costly beware, i do it but currently i can't because of issues with money but it's an excellent thing... =o)

well, i had that same habit once upon time. the only way i stopped was because of my braces. my teeth aren't that strong since they're moving so it hurts when i bite down on something really hard. it stopped me from biting nails. but im sure you wont get braces. so just try nail polish remover. its tastes sick so you'll probably stop with that. im not sure.

i dont know. i cant stop, all my friends have stopped biting them!
fake nails.. maybe that'd work. but nail polish?? nawww! i bite them off like they weren't there!! maybe some bad tasting polish would work.. i duno. oh yeahh! in this summer camp i went to last summer, whenever we got to get out shopping (once a week), everyone would buy pacifiers (u kno, those stuff babies suck on?) and suck on it all day long.. it became a trend. and a few people had their nails growing back! but i lost mine.... |

paint your nails with the clear nail polish and it'll stop your habit because it's too hard to bite your nails with clear nail polish.
