I just did a search and found that there was no debate about tattoos. So here are my questions for you:

I think tattoos can be dangerous if you go to a tattoo parlor that doesn't have a good reputation and good sterilizing methods, etc.

I want 4. an ankh on my arm, angel wings on my back that say "Tamara Elaine Jobes 1986-2004", a shooting star (not sure where), and a faerie on my ankle.

I don't think I'll regret them because I've thought long and hard about this. and I still have another year and a half before I turn 18 and can get them. I'm getting them all in places that are easily covered.

I want a tattoo, but definitely not on my back. If you get it on your back there's a possibility of the ink seaping through your skin and weakening your spine. That's why I want it on my arm...

The needle for the outline doesn't hurt as much as the inking because the inking is compared to a small electrical buzz. Plus your body is supposed to relase endorphins quite quickly. If you get it on your collarbone or something like that it would hurt a bit more then on your arm or something obviously.

Of course it could be dangerous if you don't go to a reputable tattoo parlor for it to be done. So it just depends if you've done the research, and if you've found an good references to a tattoo parlor nearby.

So I'd have to say I'm for it, but I'm somewhat neutral...I don't really care if people think it's wrong or awesome. Body modification has been done for the past thousand years by many different cultures. =] So you can't necessarily say it's wrong, but it's your opinion and I'm all for that.

I got mine done on my lower back, and everytime the needle went over my spine it hurt more... it felt like electric scissors tearing through my skin. The outline hurts the wrst. The inking isnt so bad, because by then your skin is becoming numb and your endorphins are shooting out pain killer.

I have a 3inch by 4 inch cross on my lower back that says "forgiveness" with a purple sash. i want a trail to come out of it... but my husband wont let me. LOL, so I'm fine with what I have... but DAMN! They are do addictive. You get one, the urge to get another is soo strong.


If you have/got a tattoo would you/will you regret it? I regreted it the first week I got it... because it was just weird to have something marring my nude body... but I dont regret it anymore. It is an expression of my faith, and I will always treasure it.

Its more dangerous to get in a car every day than to get a tattoo, my uncle is a retired tattoo artist, he used to work down at Jade Dragon in Chicago --one of the most respected and well known parlors in the country. They use a new needle on every person so chances of infection of minimal, but do still exist. Most people say it didnt hurt as much as they thought, but it is still pretty painful. Especially if you get it sensitive spots like the back, spine, neck, and etc. I have my name written in small letters on my ankle right above my ankle bone. My parents were hesitant at first but now they could care less --I was 14 at the time.

If the sticker ones that are non-permanent, I think those are okay.

Yes I definately want atleast two that I know of. One I want a pair of fallen angel wings on my shoulder blades and once my friends and I graduate high school we plan on getting a small tattoo or piercing together to signalfy eternal friendship. I'm not sure what yet though.

I think that like almost anything else, tattooes can be either safe or dangerous. One must be an intelligent consumer, first and foremost. Don't just stumble into a random tattoo shop. Shop for an artist, because ideally a tattoo will last longer than any other purchase you make. Make sure they use sterile conditions, have a proper autoclave, and that the person treats you in a respectful and professional manner. That manner will respect their attentiveness to safety guidelines, after all.

Are tattooes cool? Well, a "kewl" or "kool" tattoo probably won't be, because it will be something spur of the moment and a passing phase. Putting something into the fabric of your body which doesn't reflect a lifetime commitment or characteristic will hold you in that pattern, tying you there.

Tattooes involve repeatedly putting a needle into skin to break it and inject ink. It is, of course, painful. However, some parts of the body are more sensitive to pain than others. I found that my upper back was less sensitive, whereas my leg was incredibly sensitive. The inner arm, leg, and neck are very, very sensitive, and I don't have tattooes there.

I have four tattooes. I have one dragon on my right scapula, a larger one on my left scapula and extending beyond it, an Anubis with three runes beneath it on my right arm and a Willendorf goddess on my right calf. I don't regret any of them, as I thought carefully about each and feel they relate something about events in the past which I want to carry with me. They reflect who I am.

I don't believe tattooes are pointless, and I think that's a rather ludicrous assumption. If clothes aren't pointless--which they aren't, as they present to others an impression of how we want to be seen--tattooes are even less so.

I've thought about getting a tattoo, and I'm going to get one and it's not because it's a 'fashionable' trait or because it's 'cool'. I'm doing it because that's something about me I've always wanted to do. That's the issue when it deals with piercings and tattoos. People tend to do it more frequently when it's considered a trend, and I hate following trends so no lower back or shoulder blade tattoos of angels or butterflies. When I get it, it's going to mean something to me, and only me.

Now, for the questions. Everything you do has a level of danger, so tattoos has it's risks. That's something you face and you accept when you decide on getting a tattoo. It's a law that when getting a tattoo, you physically see the tattooist take out a brand new needle out of the package before starting the procedure. Of course getting a tattoo will hurt. It's a needle going in and out of your body. Your level of tolerance and where the tattoo is placed determines the amount of pain you'll experience. Like, the neck, under the wrists, ankles, lower back have thin amount of muscle/fat and it's on the bone which is more painful than say, on your stomach. I wouldn't regret it as stated before, I'd get it for me and no one else. So, no tattooing my boyfriends name on my ass. And, as of now, I have no tattoos but I do have piercings and that will change shortly.

Tattoos are safe, if you go to a "dirty" place to get a tattoo then you are not using your head, not to mention its rather cheep to become a tattoo artist and it would be a stupid thing not to re-use needles, you would be losing much for such a stupid act, they ususally cost less thatn 1.00 per needle I have yet to meet a tattoo artist that uses the same needle. I am personally an intern at a tattoo shop... I currently have 5, the one on my lower back hurt like a @#!*& the other ones didnt hurt much, if you google the words " celestial tatoo" you will see 3 of mine, the other ones are not posted yet. I have them on my ankle, shoulder baldes, lower back.
If you get a tattoo its a different pain, you will have to decide how it feels, its like a constant cat scratch if you may. Its a whole new pain and if you really want the tattoo, it doesnt matter the pain, you know it will rock! I dont regret my tattoos at all. and when I get old, I hope the people in the nursing home that take care of me think it rocks too. It will always remember me of my past my younger days! Tattoos are art. If done properly they will not endanger your health. If done improperly you can contract diseases and viruses (such as AIDs). Tattoos are also cultural and a way of self expression. Getting inked just because you want to look cool isn't a good reason to get a tattoo. Tattoos are painful.

most places are professional looking and clean...they open the needle right in front of you, and do everything where you can see it

I don't know the definition of "kool." I actually don't think there is a definition of "kool." All I know is that I love (some) tattoos in (some) places.

I the measurment of pain depends on the person getting the tattoo. My aunt owns a tattoo parlor and a different aunt works there. I saw a guy getting a tattoo once and he was biting the crap out of a pen. So obviously it can hurt. But some people's definition of pain is much different from others.

I do not have any tattoos.

I do want tattoos. As of now, I want an angel on my left shoulder blade with my girlfriend's face OR angel wings on my back. I also want a tattoo of lip prints on my ass (but I'm kinda questioning that because my aunt that's a tattoo artist told me that lip prints don't usually turn out very good), a Playboy bunny on the edge of my left breast, and a trible disign under my bellybutton. (I'm sure my opinions will change in the furture but that's what I want for now).

tattoos are safe i have eight of them and they didn't hurt. 7 are on my back and the other is on my leg to give you an idea i have ... a dragon the symbol for leo, two floral designs the word hope a sun, moon and stars and on my leg an anchor .
i also have an extremely great threshhold for pain so basically i couldn't speak for how other people feel when they get their tattoos but i love it. it reminds me of sticking your tongue on a 9volt battery.lol (haven't done that since i was a kid) and for people that think once you turn thirty that your tattoo magically wrinkles and you turn into a prune all i have to say is "good gawd people what planet are you from? how many pruned celebrities have you seen aged 30? get a grip" as a woman i would not recommend getting a tattoo on your stomach if you plan on having children(it will stretch and get distorted... i mean thats just common sense).
and for the record i'm off to get another tattoo next week. Oh yeah the most important thing is that all your tattoos have a special meaning to you because you will be wearing them for the rest of your life. my tattoos are beautiful and i regret nothing

Do you think tattoos are danerous or safe? As long as the studio is reputable, and all needles are sterilized than it's safe. As far as long term complications of the ink, I've never came across any one with any problems(Cancer, death etc..).

Are tattoos kool or not? I personally don't think they should be gotten for "koolness," but for meaning.

If you have/got a tattoo would you/will you regret it? I think everyone regrets them in some small way, but learns to live with their decision over time.

    I have four tattooes.  I have one dragon on my right scapula, a larger one on my left scapula and extending beyond it, an Anubis with three runes beneath it on my right arm and a Willendorf goddess on my right calf.  I don't regret any of them, as I thought carefully about each and feel they relate something about events in the past which I want to carry with me.  They reflect who I am.

I never really gave it much thought until I had an amazing dream of a phoenix/thunderbird. I talked to my friend who does ink and is an excellent conceptual artist. He took about 2 months to draw it - based on what I told him it looked like. Since it was my 1st, he wanted to give me extra time do decide if I really wanted it. Because it's on my back ( about 8"x6") no one sees it unless I want them to. Even people who aren't into ink like hearing the story about the dream and what was going on in my life at that time. It's an extremely personal expression of an important time in my life that I choose to honor in a special way.

I don't look or act anything like a person w/ tattoos. When I hear people talking trash, I like to show them mine. It has helped some people to loose their stereotyped attitudes about ink.

I think tattoos are dangerous if you don't get them done at a reputable place that takes proper sterelizing precautions. Otherwise they're just fine. As for pain, it all depends on where you're getting the tattoo on your body. Some places are more sensitive than others. Some tattoos are cool, while some are not. But, people shouldn't overdo it. I persoanlly don't have tattoos, but I have thought of getting one on my lower back.. I would really like to have a small fairy.

cool or not? well, it depends on what you have a tattoo of . for instance, i think it's not really smart when people have huuge tattoos of bands they like r sumthin, when they are really young, cuz they'll regret it when their older, plus, doesn't it like stretch out with age?? :P . but like a small tattoo would be kinda cool i guess..personally, i would never get one unless it was TINY!!

i want one. on my upper back. & yes they hurt. I went with my friend to get hers 7 she said it hurt like a biznatch. She got it on her lower back, above her butt crack, so i'm guessing getting over there hurts.

but im perfectly fine with waiting until im 18. especially so i can be perfectly decided on what i want done.
