Dreams, ... Options

I looked around and I couldn't find this topic in the lounge, so if there already is a topic like this, sorry. You can close it. (I couldn't really decide where to stick this topic either... )

Anyway...

I haven't had any dreams lately, none that I can remember anyway. And I just wanted to know what you guys thought of them. Are they black and white, or in color? How long do they last, or seem to last? How often do you remember them? Do you ignore them, or try to interpret what they mean? What do you dream about?

I wanted to limit this to one or two questions, but I couldn't. Too curious, I guess. Or maybe just me being nosy.

well, scientifically, dreams last for seconds, though they don't seem it. and i can never remember my dreams, i wish i did though. >_<

i used to remember my dreams a lot, i don't really anymore. and they seem long. i do remember them sometimes just when i wake up but in 10 minutes i forget. and depending on the dream, i think about it sometimes, while others i just brush off.

Dreams only last 3 seconds, but they seem to last so much longer. I had a dream last night that I went to a play. Most of my dreams are in color and i usually remember them all.

I usually remember mine. And they are in color I used to keep a journal by my bed, and when i'd wake up, i'd write the dream down...I dunno why..It's kinda interesting to go back n read what kinda dreams you had.

Okay, I'm a Psychology Major and a Junior at my University, so basically, the only reason you do not remember your dreams is simply because you don't wake up during REM sleep, the deepest part of your sleep. Your dreams last for 30 minutes to an hour, and occur four times during the night, all different dreams. The only way you'll ever remember is if you have the power to *know* when you're dreaming. In some studies, when a patient goes into the REM sleep phase, they flash a red light and their dream ends abruptly and they wake up and can repeat the dream.

Anyway, I wouldn't try to interpret it. Freudians believe that they *could* mean something, so if you have the power to alter the outcome of the dreams you shouldn't, but factually, all dreams are is a stress reliever, usually irrelevant to anything in your life, I mean, you may dream about a person, but that's just the way it is. If you didn't dream, you would constantly wake up stressed. Don't take them too seriously, they really don't mean anything except that you're a hell of a lot happier in the morning.

I read about it last year. It said you only remember your dream when it didn't finish yet. Each night you have a cycle of about six dreams. If you suddenly wake up and remember it, it means that you didn't finish it yet. If you don't remember anything about your dreams, that means that the cycle of dreams ended.

i hardly ever remember my dreams. if i do remember my them, they are very vague and don't make sense. so yeah, i don't try to interpret them.

as for dreaming in color or black or white? hmm, i don't know.. i can't even remember that.

I don't even remember if they're in color or not.. I always think my dreams are in color, but now that I think of it, I can't remember. A lot of my dreams are scary and freak me out until I realize that it's just a dream. And a lot of them are happy dreams but it's sad because it's not real. Bah.

When I had my last dream, I thought about it the next morning and realized it was in color. My dreams can last long, but sometimes it can be short. I learned in my psychology class that if someone wakes you up in the middle of your dream, most likely you won't remember anything. Yeah....I don't interpret my dreams and I rarely remember my dreams. I wish I could remember all of them...except the bad ones. =P

my dreams. i only give lots of thoughts to the interesting ones. i dont remember having any black and white dream but thatd be cool. so basically its collor dreams for me..i hate it when i have a favorite dream then i cant remember it.

i'm pretty sure my dreams are in color, and they usually don't last that long (only sometimes.) I usually remember them until I try to explain it to somebody.. then it's like I go blank lol. i dont try to figure out what they mean because i haven't really had any interesting dreams lately.

3 seconds? Maybe for you I guess... but 3 seconds means that you only slept for 3 seconds everyone dreams while they sleep...... so yeah. Without dream, it means you didn't sleep at all.

Also what are you guys talking about in colors/black&white? >.<;;; so you dream in old fashioned way like black and white?

My dreams are in color most of the time. It seems my dreams last for about 30 minutes. Any dream I remember, I most of the time shrug it off. I remember hearing from someone that you actually have 6-7 dreams in one night.

I've been having strange dreams lately. I won't really remember what they were about in the morning, but I remember bits of them and that they were odd

Same. My dreams have been really wierd these days. The day before I had a dream that Johnny Depp was a woman and he was judging a competition for band, although I'm not in band, and I was in my dream.


Last night, I had a dream that my brother was this robot thing that gathered memories of our family, because before my dad and my other brother, even though I only have one in real life, had died some tragic way I can't remember. And then yea, my brother would go around and ask people, and ask them and them program the memory into his head. It kinda came out as a movie commercial. I remember one part, where my brother had to fly my cousin to this cave place where she found her boyfriend singing this song that she and him used to sing togather, and she started crying alot. I dono *shrugg*

Yupp, and the longest a dream can last is about one minute. I'm pretty sure most of my dreams are in color. I used to have a lot of black and white dreams, but not anymore.

Wow, that's amazing. 30mins to an hour... it usually felt like forever. When i wake up, i always just remember one dream at the most... wow, four different dreams. I could always "dissect" my dreams if i think back what i was thinking that day piece by piece. If i went to a mcdonald, i would remember seeing a mcdonald commercial or something. I have one question though, why do i always seem to wake up at the turning point of my dream?

I don't remember many of my dreams, only the scary or really random dreams. Sometimes i'll wake up in the morning and be like " ah jeez that was a nice dream I have to remember it!" but then after 15 minutes i'll completely forget it =[

One time, i had this dream where I was in a big party with all the asians in the world. ( yeah...i'm asian too.) and so we were all having a great time and going around and such. Then all of a sudden these weird asians with guns and army clothes come in and say they're working for some dictator and order everyone to line up and go on a truck or something. The people who ran away got shot and such. ( reminds you of hitler and his followers, right?) So me, my friend, and my other friend ran and ran and ran. Then we ran off into different directions. So all of a sudden I went into a store that sold dusty clothes and costumes. I told the manager that i needed a costume to protect myself so she let me take some. For some reason i took 3...i guess it was because of my friends or something. Anyway, I ran out of the doors and saw my two friends running. I ran toward them and i gave them some costumes. They put it on and we started running again. Then, my friend had this idea to dance and act " ghetto" so the asian nazi's wouldn't recognize us. So we started dancing.....then one of my friends got caught by this one asian nazi...and then me and my friend were like " nooooo" but we had to run away....and that was the end of my dream. a bit odd, i must say.

i rarely remember my dreams. sometimes when im in a dream i know that i know that im dreaming... yenno, something like that... but oftentimes i wake up thinking it really happened, then after a few minutes, i realize it really hadnt.

there's this one dream i had when i was like 7, & it's the only dream i really hadnt forgotten... i was going up these stairs to a friend's house, & at the top was this black cat & it was staring at me. i stopped, then after i decided that it wont do anything to me, i kept going up, but then when i got to the 2nd-to-the-last step, it attacked me, & we went rolling down the stairs... i do think cats are creepy. i dont like them much. yea, then when i woke up, i ran to my parents' room & jumped to their bed, & when i looked at my brother's crib (in the dark), there was this black figure (i could see it, tho) standing beside it, & i had a feeling it was grinning... ::shivers:: 7 years later, it still gives me the creeps. i never had that dream again, but i could never forget it.

i remember the good ones and really scary ones. but i had a really odd one. like i was in this fight and i ended up getting stabed in the thumb and the stomach and when i woke up my thumb was bleeding. little scary if u ask me. but i liked the dream.

I always remeber my dreams. And I always think of them as hints or clues towards my future...lol. Yes...Im weird. But thats the way I am~ But my dreams are usually...sexual for some reason~ And it seems to be in color. But then sometimes it seems to be black and white. Im not sure. *Shrugs*

some of my dreams, i end up thinking are real. like, during the day i'll be like "wait a minute..didn't i do blahblah.." and i can't distinguish between the real world and my dreams. that's weird.

How long do they last, or seem to last? Until the dream is over. I remember getting this "nightmare" when I was little where someone or something was about to kill me but I woke up before I did. >>;

How often do you remember them? I try to ignore the bad ones and remember the good and weird ones. Although... I still remember one of them (bad ones). Sometimes they can prove a good inspiration to me when I write stories. :D

01. It depends what they are, if I like that dream, weird, scary, or just fun, i would remember it and put it on paper. That way I can always go back to them and read it.

02. the dreams I usually have has some sort of meaning that I don't need to explain. But this one nightmare I had I tried to find out the reason what it means. Like this marble house with the word "Demi" in it which is actually a house that stores coffins inside (like those small houses that are built in a cemetery that you see in horror movies, and yes... the coffins do have bodies in there x_x;;). But I ask myself, "What does it mean? What does the word, 'Demi' mean and why is it on that door? And...what does it have to do with its purpose?" Something like that.

Also, this one dream I had had a famous person in it. I have no idea WHY, but I realized in that dream, I was entering the men's restroom and there's this famous person talking strangely and didn't stop talking. I would walk out and he would follow me, for some reason I ran from him but after that I came back and he was gone. But I ask myself why...am I in the men's room?? It was weird.

03. I dream random stuff. Could be from a celebrity, a fantasy-like dream, and sometimes weird dreams (:coughs: I had this one just last night. A sort of "rose" bush that creates "shoes" created from...large colorful spiders. >>; You just need to take out the leaves (kind of like the corn leaves), and it reveals a slimy purple (or green) shoe that's actually wearable. I remember in that dream my dad told me, "wear this shoe" and he would kneel down this bush and it had a picture of a scary looking spider on it and he is holding this slimy purple shoe in his hand that was supposedly bloomed from that bush. It was weird... and gross. Scary thing is that the location would be just outside of my grandma's old house. But thinking about her blooming those kind of things scares me to death)).


So yah, I dream random things. I only got one videogame type dream, like if you play Fatal Frame 2, there's this one scene where a ghost is strangling someone on the floor, I had that kind of nightmare once. I can see the silohuette of the strangler/ghost perfectly. It was scary.

I can go on and on but I'll stop here. No need for lengthy posts. Lol.

Anywho, my dreams don't usually last too long because I get up a lot during the night. I remember most of my dreams, which is good because I like to think about them later.


Once, I dreamed that a ink monster was chasing me through a potion room. So I was running and then I got to a stair case and this scientist told me to go to the window. So, I went. And Tarzan was waiting for me? And we rode outside on leafy scooters.
