This is an app I've been working on on and off for some time now and I thought it was time I release it to the public.

It's a fully functional and customizable guestbook written entirely in ColdFusion language (from scratch, by the way). It's not just your ordinary guestbook application, I've also integrated a lot of useful features into it.

I'm very excited about releasing it because it'll be one of the most if not the most powerful guestbooks written in ColdFusion and released to date. If you do a search in Google or Yahoo for ColdFusion guestbooks, I'll guarantee you won't find much and the applications out there are too basic and "meager" to say the least.

I plan on submitting it to a few open source script sites out there but I wanted to give people an opportunity to test it out first and get some feedback.

Oooh, but the problem is you're going to need a server that supports ColdFusion and ColdFusion hosting is very expensive and more than likely, your current host doesn't support it.

QUOTE(2Nekked @ Dec 29 2004, 11:52 PM)
does it log ips?
*

Yes. But for now I haven't figured out how to store it in the database. Right now, what it does is that every time someone signs your guestbook, you are sent a notification email including the user's info, message, and their IP address. If this guestbook gets a great response and more people are using it, I may work on a new version and add an IP logging feature.

QUOTE(2Nekked @ Dec 29 2004, 11:52 PM)

Haha, what did you think I was learning in school for the 2 years I studied Web Tech? I also made a shopping cart application but I haven't tidied up the code enough to release (and I I'm too lazy) but maybe one day I'll fix it up and reupload it and show you guys.

I was studying to become a web developer before I decided to go the design and graphics route instead. Although the pay is better, I just couldn't imagine myself sitting on the computer and programming all day. Not fun and very very stressful.

QUOTE(2Nekked @ Dec 29 2004, 11:52 PM)
can i make a skin for it?
*

Sure. Um, I just took the zip file down from the site because someone gave me a tip that I should at least encrypt the code if I'm giving it away for free or someone might steal it and sell it or I should charge money for it. I haven't decided yet. I'm not worried about anyone from Createblog stealing it so I'll post the file here for you to download:

http://rlabajo.cf-developer.net/CFGuestbook.zip

Just open it up and read the Read Me file to figure out how to install it and stuff. And all the skin templates are inside the skins folder so just look in there and view one of the templates to create your own. If you could create more skins for me, that would be quite lovely. biggrin.gif

Yeah, I heard about you changing majors. sad.gif Are you sure you want to do that? I think you'd make a great web designer, seriously.

And Kiki i would never leave you! <4444444 My boss has just been bugging me lately about projects that I REALLY don't feel like doing and then I have my bf to tend to as well, you know how that goes. But I'm around, I just haven't been posting much anywhere lately.

Oooh, and the skins would be great! I'll allow users to submit their custom made skins for distribution once I get this thing released... I'm thinking about charging folks for it. Not CBers or Cliquers of course. tongue.gif

I don't want to have to go through the trouble of handling theives. Besides, I kinda like the idea of charging people for the full source code. shifty.gif

i'd rather make it myself or download a free script...there's always hotscripts.com lol but good job on the guestbook. i'm coding a blog/news script, a guestbook, and forum system under my DiamondFantasy name, and it'll be free so it's good for a bit competition lol.

Nice job on that! It looks interesting, but why ColdFusion and Access? Not as many hosts even offer ColdFusion anymore as most are on Linux operating systems. Also, SQL kicks Access's ASS!

Usually a Windows based server will more likely support Coldfusion. Linux servers do not support coldfusion. You can ask your host yourself, if you're not sure.

Ooh, that's awesome! But is there a way that you can use it on a server that doesn't support ColdFusion, because I don't think many servers do..Oh well. =]

sorry to bring this back, but does anyone know if this still works? both links are asking for a username and password, so i'm guessing roxanne released it to the public and it's not for free...
