New Forum in CB., ..? Options

I think we should have a new forum in CB..

A Requests Forum..

People can make their requests..and when the designers are bored or something..they can always go in the forum...browse the topics..pick one they like and work on it just for fun..

Yeah..I was just like looking at all the signatures..and all of em have "NO SKIN REQUESTS " So I kinda figured it'd be easier to work with..lol.

I think it's a good suggestion to make this forum. As the above ppl said, designers won't be bothered w/ noob PM's, and they can pick at their leisure.

that rule should be amended to barring only individual requests, and allow a request forum. This IS a xanga forum rite? but relly, we have a skin forum already, but then there should be a forum that is more 'loose' than the skins forum. Requests forums would work. Contained in one forum, and we'd hopefully get rid of the newbs that invade the lounge with "Can someone make me..."

Well, the designers that do accept requests probably get like, 100 pm's a day. And if I was a designer, I seriously would not want to do all 100 requests...

You know how some people request skins asking for it to be ONLY for them therefore individually? Well, if this forum hypothetically does get made, will the requests be individual or for CB? Meaning that if a designer decides to fulfill the skin requester's request, they MUST submit it to CB. I don't think any of the staff has seen this yet, but that's for my personal preference.

If you guys hypothetically decide to make a request forum, it will depend on if you all lean toward a 'looser, all designers for themselves' structure or a 'beneficial for cB, more strict' structure. The loose structure would allow minimal moderating, and basically just letting designers take their pick. Like the classifieds section on a newspaper. If you take the latter structure, it would be much more work to moderate and control the forum, and then getting the skins and posting them up. But the rights would belong to cB, which would be beneficial, but I think it would just be another xanga Skins forum.

i'm very sure making a new forum would be very very important, and the entire design and people staff would have to discuss it. So i don't think a mod would just on the spree make a new forum. Maybe they have those crazy procedures where 2 admins have to type in a password at the same time.

if you make a request forum too many people will be requesting and not enough people will be designing. and plus when someone designs a skin for you, who`s to say you will actually like the skin they designed? and if you don`t, then it was just a waste of time for the designer to make it. why don`t you just make a skin yourself or just look through the skins forum since there are plenty of good skins already made and ready to use there. also, there are specific xanga sites that take requests on skins, banners, icons, and etc so go find those sites and request there.

I think this is an awesome idea.

If we put up the right rules...it can work.

People shouldn't be allowed to request layouts for JUST themselves. They can request for ideas. Like, a layout featuring a specific person/place/thing, with or without sidebars, full-screen or boxed, etc.
Not too many details. Just the sort of stuff that you look for when you're choosing a layout.

As for chaos...hey, the Lounge is filled with a whole bunch of topics. I dunno, but when I first looked around here, it looked like chaos.

Obviously, not everyone will follow the rules..we'll get repeats, and people'll spam, etc.

The forum can be divided...like, one topic for celeb layouts, one for anime, one for landscape-y layouts, etc.
Another one for comments. It'll save on spam. o.O

This is a good idea...not just for designers, but for people looking for designs. There're soo many repeats done...same stuff...
If someone who's not a designer has a new idea, it'll be a good way to get the idea out.

I think it is a good idea. The amount of PM's the designers usually get will lessen. But like what Kathleen said, there will be more topics of complaining people wanting their requests to be fulfilled.

What if some random person on xanga signed up on cB and then requested, and once it was fulfilled, they just left? Bleh, idk, I'm still a little confused. And I know that there were a few times where I've made a few people, that are friends of mines, a layout for their xanga, and I felt as if I wanted to contribute it to createBlog. I had the urge to submit it, but I didn't.

Spam seems to be the only problem with this idea, really....
People won't spam so much if they know that their post count won't increase in that forum. o.O It'd help.

What about a rule like this: if you post a request, you're done. Don't post again and again about that same request.

As for it being 'good enough'...we're not making layouts for one specific person. I think requests should really bring up new ideas, not like...'can someone make this so-and-so layout for me, with these little details?'

Like...if we keep getting layouts featuring this ONE singer or band, and there aren't any layouts featuring another singer or band that some people really like. Or hundreds of layouts about love, relationships, suicide because of lost love, etc....and no other theme. This topic will give people a chance to give new ideas.

So...not really 'requests'...more like...ideas? o.O

I so agree with Trish. There's not many people who wants to help the request. People should rather PM then making a forum with full of request---it leads to pointless then.
