It's a bunch of bullshit. The holiday has devolved to people beating the shit out of each other at Macys for a toy truck.

It's 2 things.
The season of giving, and the season celebrating Jesus' birth.
I say it is both, because in reality.. Jesus was born more like in August than December. They have a reason for putting Christmas as December 25th, but I don't really care to get into that right now.

AHAHAHAHA!

wow.. reading the fourm so far, i expected reasonable answers from most of ya.

its about spending time with your loved ones, and forgiving each other, but also, i believe its about the birth of Christ. (the birth of Christ belief was commercialized in the 20th century, but it was once just a time to "party", which started around the 4th century)

happy happy joy joy.

i haven't yelled at my sister once yet. sure, it's only noon, but i think that's a record.

my mom was supersuper excited about what we got her - a laptop riser, PJs, and a nice blouse. she never really gets much for herself; she spends everything on us so..it was nice to see her happy about getting something she wanted.

It's nowhere in the Bible, love.

As for Christmas... it means... winter holidays. Sales. Shopping. Family time. Giving and receiving gifts. Cold. Rest. Vacation. Vacation. Vacation.

^ I agree with stephinika. It seems like this Christmas.. wasn't as great as I thought it would be. It's not even about gifts; it seems as if no one was in the christmas spirit. :T I guess I wasn't either. I don't really know how to describe it.. But when I was yougner, the true meaning of Christmas was to share it with the ones you love the most and show each other how much you appreciate them, by giving... and it doesn't matter what the "gift" was... It could be something tiny, it could be a hug, kiss, etc.

But but I mean, I'm not Christian/Catholic, so I really don't know much about Christ so I wouldn't really celebrate the birth of Christ or anything.. ermm.gif

The day christ was born. It's kind of funny how we give each other presents on christmas. It's like giving each other presents when someone else's birthday comes around.

Sorry to hear that some of you have come to hate this holiday. Instead of looking at the greed around you, try to find the good instead, however little it may be. It's more worthwhile that way, and you won't come off as being the Grinch.

For me, Christmas is a sort of reminder of what God did... a reminder to be thankful to Him, to be thankful for my family and for my friends.

I feel that if you were a true Christian/Catholic(meaning celebrating Christmas truly as the birth of Jesus), you would look past whatever selfish holiday this has become and focus on what you believe instead. Stop whining about others that are non-religious who you feel don't deserve to celebrate Christmas; it's a waste of negative energy. Plus what kind of "religious" person are you: spiting what others believe.

Yeah, so whatever Christmas means to any of you, hope you had a good one anyway.

it`s CHRIST MAS. more christ. haha lame joke i heard somewhere. anyways i consider it being about two things: christ`s birth and also about giving and spending time with family and that sort of thing.
