do any of you girl get what this stuff is? i googled this up just recenetly and the clothes look alright on girls. sure, there are those weird lolita goth things. but all in all its pretty good. but when i clicked on a couple of JSF clothes for guys they all look so... gay? well thats not the best word for it but it just looks really feminie.
so yeah. your thoughts on this type of clothes?
another question, i still dont get how to imitate this type of clothing without looking too weird. tips?

Well...Jap street fashion can be seriously crazy or actually pretty nice. It reminds me of what teens in Hong Kong/Taiwan wear. I think it's pretty cool =)

But I really don't feel the Lolita crap. Ugh. I went to Japan last year and saw this woman in one of those outfits with her own DAUGHTER in one. I bet you didn't know that Lolita is a book about a 12 year old girl who has an affair with a middle-aged man, HMM??

Oh damn, I LOVE Japanese street fasion... well at least, the Gothic Lolita styles. As for the unbelievably trashy weird looking ones... well... Japan is a weird country, OKAY?! >_>
Buuut back to the subject:
You might be able to pull it off, depending. If it's those Fancy Gothic Lolita dresses, that is quite difficult. School uniforms are very easy, since it's just a white shirt, and blue skirt! And there is a reason why some of the guys stuff are very feminine, but really, I forgot >_< But Japan is really a country that doesn't care about men being feminine or Masculine, so yeah. I mean, Look at all the J-rockers! THEY LOOK LIKE WOMEN FOR GODS SAKE! even though I think they look prettier than most women in their pictures XD

That's kinda` wierd, but you know you can't judge people on how they look or dress. It's THEIR own style. Some japanese clothing can be quite nice others, are just wierd but cool.

Yes, the Japanese fashion trends are very nifty, but if worn in other places around the world would be considered a laughing stock.

Well........each country has their own different style trends, Korea and Hong Kong are getting towards somewhat along those lines but not there yet...mn...yea.......the Jap style for guys does look feminine, haven't u even noticed that some anime guys look kind of feminine too?

I like Japanese stuff, food........clothing(not obsessed coz I haven't really worn any full-on).......the technology!! ^_^
So yea, Jap style is alrite

I like the unique style of the clothing. The style has flair.

I heard that clothes in the U.S. right now are out-of-date over in Japan. They're always trying out new fashions, which is really cool. I heard no one wears flared pants over there anymore. :P

I'm in LOVE with the skirts and pants that Japanese girls wear. throb.gif Yes, SKIRTS OVER PANTS. <3 lol

Yay for colorfulness!

Extremes in Japanese clothing would be Harajuku(sp?) girls..............Like these!!

Every Sunday groups of mostly teenage girls gather in Harajuku to be hip, to be seen and to express themselves through what is known as "kosu-purei" (costume play). These young folks whose previous generation was known as the "Takenokozoku" (bamboo shoot tribe), get together with their friends in a ritual that might be best described as carnival, punk, SM, cross-dressing, Halloween and a circus freak show all rolled into one. The girls spend hours creating their costumes and putting on their faces, not unlike kabuki actors preparing for a show. Their purpose is to be as different as possible from anything that resembles the ordinary. Ironically it is all executed quite deliberately like clockwork at the same time every week, in the exactly same manner, in the same place...all in its proper context, much like the rhythm of mainstream Japanese culture. In fact, the various fashion styles even have names. For example, there is "lolita fashion" or the little girl look, "cyber fashion" or the futuristic look, and "visual fashion" or the look of imitating styles from popular music groups. And, like any other artistic form of expression, it mutates over time. Styles come and go quickly...what was once shocking no longer surprises anyone. Eventually the teenagers grow out of it and become properly-mannered "shakaijin" (member of society). But...it sure is a wild and crazy spectacle while it lasts!

But there are a lot of Japanese clothes that are really cute~

I think it's very unique. I would love to pull off the Harajuku girl look, but sadly I can't.

The style is very bold, whacky, and colorful. No one would dare wear that here.

We'd get funny looks. Gosh, they're so brave for doing that.

some of it's really nice, some of it is trashy looking. Those ear things (the little cat ear things) drive me insane

Personally I been in love with it for the longest time...before it started to hit america. I really like how they mix and match clothing and make it actually look good. I could never pull it off, but props to them for having such unique style!

Well, to them, we might have weird fashion trnds, but just wait a couple years, their fashions will come here...but we all will edit it so we don't look too weird...

I'm not really sure about all this. I was look at the Tokyo Street Style Japan Fashion Association (the www.style-area blah blah) site and I dress like the girls in the Shibuya section, but in black and whites and sometimes stripes. I didn't realize it was a fashion trend. I really like the bright colors and neon hair, but its not something I'd wear simply because I need a good job and its hard to find a good job with green hair.
