I was just browsing through Peta 2 and I found this video on factory farms...before, I was completely clueless to where my meat came from...ignorant, I know...

Ever since I saw this, I went vegetarian. I know I might sound like a silly little girl who'll give up vegetarianism after a week or two, but I really felt bad for what went on in these farms and I hope that I can keep up vegetarianism...

Are any of you in here vegetarian or vegan?

Please take a look at this depressing clip...please consider it...
The Cruelty of Animal Farms
It may take a while to load on older computers, but it's worth it, in my opinion...

I've seen something like htis before.. the one about KFC or something.. witht he checkens gettting beaten up. Bleh well I don't really eat that much meat, but man wow.. that clip was really.. traumatic... ph34r.gif

The poor piglet! It's all being beaten and it's all trying to walk/run away from the people... It's legs... it can't even move it's 2 hind legs, only it's front legs. And it's dragging itself. And when it was able to stand up on all fours, for a split second the piglet was standing up, then it felt down on it's side.. Soo sad! cry.gif I feel terrible now,f or all the bacon I've eaten!

Awww, that's really sad!

But like acidophilus said, those are just the worst farms. They just picked out the ones that are really bad.

Regular farms don't do that...

I agree that it is one of the worst farms, but it's still happening.

Fur farms are perfect examples of animal cruelty, but they're not getting shut down, are they? At least not most of them.

And the animal farm didn't get shut down. It's still going on, although thankfully, PETA is trying to stop it...

Get your facts straight before making assumptions.

i hate ppl that are all vegetarian and claim that all of these cows and other animals are being treated cruely. do u see cows roaming around in the wild? wen ur on a jungle safari, do u go "oh look mom! a COW!" no, i dont think so. farmers breed them. without us, there wouldn't be so many cows in the first place.

if u stop eating meat, u arent accomplishing anything. u arent saving the world from animal cruelty. ppl eat meat and that will never change, so stop complaining about it unless u actually go out and do something about it.

My parents are vegetarian for religious purposes. I am required to go 4 days a month without meat by religion. I couldn't see the video, but did you think that the way we get our meat was pleasant in the first place? Did you think they gave the animals pain relievers, or some kind of anisthetic(sp?)? No. We have no disregard for animals. All that matters is that we have meat. Think about it.

My grandpa is buddhist, but hes like the real one. He gave up all his valued possesions and moved away for 20 years, he just moved back 3 or 4 years ago but hes still very religious and follows the traditions. Not sure what form of buddhism that is but he follows it. Swears he hasnt eaten meat in like 30 years or something. Its kind of weird because we're like Russian, but he fell in love with it for some reason. hes really cool to be around though.

"the real one" could be defined in many different ways. But that sounds like a monk to me. Why'd he stop? Shoulda kept going. My parents are doing this new age Buddhism lead by this Buddha. She's pretty amazing actually. I suppose I am not a "real" Buddhist, but i will become a monk one day..

omg, lmao, you are so frickin funny, LMFAO, "Gulliable" is not in the dictionary because you spelt it wrong, dimwit.

PETA doesn't go overboard with everything...I guess the animal farms they show are the worst of the worst, but they still exist. Maybe instead of laughing yourself to death, you could provide some info to prove that animal farms aren't like what PETA shows them to be?

Sorry for idiots like you, but all you're doing is making yourself look stupid. Congratulations.

Btw, this might not be relevant, but it's free, not feed. Rofl.

after watching that video.. i almost decided to become a vegeterian. until i read some of the posts.. so then, even if i did stop eating meat.. it wouldn't change anything. other people would continue to eat meat. so stop eating meat would do nothing. i love animals, but not that much to spend my entire life trying to stop everything. it's the way life is. it's hard to change. it could take a life-time. forever. it may never end. becoming a vegeterian changes nothing. besides. not all farms are like that. i went to many farms before, and those farms treated animals with respect. =)

oh my god!! i cried through that.. cry.gif

i read all the previous posts.. about PETA pickin out the worst farms. even if its the worst farms, those animals in the video were still living things. even if it doesnt happen usually, it happens. and if a poor soul is chosen to be an animal for its next life and that cow is on one of those farms, it still affects animals. not all, but some.
lets say its kids being kidnapped, for example. it doesnt happen a lot, but it happens. how would you feel if you happened to be the sister of one of the kidnapped children? it doesnt happen all the time, but if it happened to happen (blink.gif) to you, wouldn't that just suck?

all those posts about life not being fair and that we couldn't do anything about it.. really, one plate less of bacon will save a pig's life. say we all pull ourselves together - a thousand less courses of chicken breast will save 500 chickens. think about that.

anyways, one plate less of bacon will NOT save a pig's life. it's already dead. how will it stay alive? it'd just be left to rott. =.=" see. pretend you are in a cafeteria. they are selling chickens wings. the chickens that were used to make those chicken wings were already killed, and cooked. all you could do is 'reject' the food. the chicken wouldn't be alive. other people would eat it. or it'd be thrown away.

Wishful Thinking- wow um..I think what he's trying to say...is if THEY just spared one pig, that's a whole life left. Yes if we refused it, it would still be there...but if enough people refuse it obviously they'd be making to much for their consumers..being a vegitarian isn't about that entirly, because it's impossible to make everybody give up their precious meat. It's like saying you don't want to be a part of this. If there was a shooting around your house, you had a gun in your hand, and person was being killed, would you shoot with them? Just cuz you could? Cuz you had the gun? No. And you not shooting wouldn't make everyone else stop. But it doesn't make it right.

they are totally FOR the killing of any animal they believe is "scary", aka, the pit bull. which are completely stable, smart, playful, family loving pets, IF PROPERLY TRAINED (isn't it like that with all dogs?). mind you, they don't even support people having pets,
QUOTE
I don’t use the word 'pet. I prefer 'companion animal.' For one thing, we would no longer allow breeding. People could not create different breeds. There would be no pet shops. If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. You would have a protective relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child. But as the surplus of cats and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship – enjoyment at a distance.

they spend more of their donated money to advertise themsevles, rather than, i don't know, maybe actually HELPING the animals.
"PETA's donations totaled only $206,655.58, but they had a total revenue of almost $14 Million.

PETA spent the following on

1. PETA TV - Expense - $13,268.84
2. Electronic equipment, computers, cameras - Expense- $33,869.24
3. Automobiles - Expense - $148,362.02
4. SNAP Vehicle - Expense - $150,000.00
5. Buildings and improvements - Expense - $295,101.60 (After a $195,000 donation of property)
6. Land - Expense - 94,170.00"
kind of looks like about less then one precent went to do what peta is "all about".

they also donated thosands of dollars to ELF or ALF, both activist extremists. both under FBI watch for terrorsim in arson, bombings, cutting the brake lines on fishery trucks, breaking and entering, destruction of government and organizational research laboratories and murder. because we all have no problem supporting terrorism.

"If we really believe that animals have the same right to be free from pain and suffering at our hands, then, of course we’re going to be, as a movement, blowing things up and smashing windows … I think it’s a great way to bring about animal liberation … I think it would be great if all of the fast-food outlets, slaughterhouses, these laboratories, and the banks that fund them exploded tomorrow. I think it's perfectly appropriate for people to take bricks and toss them through the windows ... Hallelujah to the people who are willing to do it."
- vegan campaign coordinator of PETA, “Animal Rights 2001” conference
no comment to that. haha.

they're hypocrites. they are against using animal research in the medial field. yet vice president willingly injects insulin for her diabetes. she says she needs her life fighting for animals. if that wasn't enough, try this, "Even if animal tests produced a cure for AIDS, we’d be against it" wow. lets kill million humans, in the present and future, just to save some animals lives?

oh no, i can totally understand where you are coming from. because we all know that PETA believes that everyone who has been to a zoo, enjoys circus elephants, fed/feeds milk to amimals, wear leather or fur, ate meat once in their life are all animal abusers. like me. like everyone here.

They're informing little kids who have parents that wear fur that their mommy supports killing animals. Which is true.

Now you're the one who's going overboard.

First of all, it is wrong to wear fur, and PETA is right in trying to get people to stop it.

Secondly, they don't feel that everyone who has been to a zoo, enjoys circus elephants, feeds milk to animals, eats meat, or wears leather is an animal abuser. They think it's better if less people wore leather or consumed meat since less animals would die, but they don't try to make it like the law that people who do wear leather are animal abusers. I'm pretty sure you'd agree that the less living beings suffer, the better. (unless there's some risk of overpopulation or something.)

Also, PETA tries to inform people who pay money to watch abused and maltreated animals in zoos and circuses about how the creatures are treated, not just point the finger at them and call them animal abusers. They believe that the zookeepers and circus trainers who abuse the animals are animal abusers. Which is true.

what a way to make a kid hate their parents. this is total propaganda. well, it doesn't matter much, since to peta we're all animal haters. it is complete BULLSHIT to tell a kid that. or anyone that mommy is a greedy animal hater. look at the picture. it's a f**king scare tactic.

what are little kids going to do besides whine and cry? are they going to take action? i'm not saying that kids aren't capable but is scareing them and making them hate their mom isn't the right way to educate them, fur is not something i would want (real or faux, it's just plan ugly) but i have nothing against these "greedy" people who wear it. because it says nothing about them and who they are. if they like it, real or not, fine. i don't care. it's not effecting me. do people what eat meat support the killing of animals?

they do other scare/shock tactics.( http://www.consumerfreedom.com/news_detail.cfm/headline/2537 ) to teach people not to eat meat, that milk is unheathly, whatever. but scareing people isn't teh way to change a mind, but to tell people the facts instead of what you want people to think.

They can always choose less horific ways to spread the word to children than showing them pictures of dead animals. Children have fragile minds and who knows what kind of effect these types of pictures will have on them. I know if I was 5 or 6 and was handed one of these comics I would be tramitized.

This reminds me of the whole Abortion thing that's going on where I live.
Bus's are driving around with large picture of an aborted child on it.

What people don't understand is, is that these pictures are from women who are well into there 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

But oh well.
It wasn't that bad.
We have to eat...

I killed my pitbull once after it lost a fight. I shot it with my gun. I felt bad but I got over it.
