I have 1,000 different directions I can take.

ACT: 35 composite
SAT I: 1520 composite

The list goes on of activities, GPA, etc, etc.

I can pretty much go anywhere I want to go, but I've narrowed it down to 3 schools on each coast that I've been accepted to.

Please, help me. And take into consideration cost, retaining a social life, etc. All are huge factors for me.

lolz, i agree. I think you should try for MIT if it's your "lifelong dream"... but do you know what their expectations are? anyways, princeton is good, better than nyu or some of the others you have there.

Considering that Princeton is Early Decision, it's impossible that you've been accepted to all of those schools already.

I had a 1590 SAT, FIVE perfect 800 SAT IIs, straight 5s on AP tests, a very strong recommendation from a professor at an Ivy League University, 4.0 GPAs at three universities including Brown, 4.6 at my high school. I am also a nationally ranked and 2nd in the state debater, president of two school clubs published novelist, 200+ hours of service, etc, and I was deferred by the University of Pensnylvania.

Sh*t happens. It's unpredictable as hell. STill trying to find a scapegoat... right now the vote is kinda close between Jews and Liberals.

Well, considering I got accepted to all of those schools in High School (but didn't end up going, the point was to see where I could go) I thought about the California for a while because if you become a resident (living in CA for a year) you don't pay to go to college. That is so much money to be saved on so many other things, especially for those who will be paying your tuition. If you don't want to wait 6 months to a year, well then, still consider it, but personally, I wouldn't your first year at college. Don't stray too far away from home just INCASE, and most ppl their Frosh year do run into trouble. Plus, plane ticket costs might burn a hole in your pocket if you have a low paying job, or no job at all, and who wants to haul their shiz back and forth for breaks when they make you pack your crap and go, and you know all that stuff.

*Princeton, I mean it's okay, but if you're looking for a campus life that's more entertaining and an environment, I would not choose that school. I mean, in the summer when the shore is a GOOD place to be, that's one thing, but you have the whole winter...and well, you get it.

*I'm gonna skip the B.S. NYU is more for your money, more exciting campus life and environment, plus it's really pretty there too...lol. So ya know, if you want excitement a giid environment, and the quality of education of everything you mentioned, this would be the school.

Well it all depends on your major...
As for UC. It is very hard to get in to a UC especially if you are not a Californian resident. Admissions to UCB is fairly hard. Almost as hard as UCLA. Of all who apply 25.3% are accepted. Most of this is in the gpa 4.0 and above range. In California SAT and ACT are important but as important is the GPA. Just to break down ur cocky-ness so your prepared for the worst. Having an outstanding GPA, SAT, and extra curriculars does not establish a certain acceptance, especially as a undergrad.

To be short... UCs are soo underbudgetted and filled with soo much applications that even the best qualified do not get in.

However for UCB particularily 98% of students who had an exceptional GPA and SAT of over 1400 were accepted. So if your a californian you got a 98% chance in if your GPA is exceptional.

However, UCB makes it clear that for applicants with SAT 1400 above who were non californian residents faced much harder and stricter qualifications. In other words, we californians get first grabs for admission space first. "they were out-of-state or international applicants, for whom admission standards are much higher" (Berkeley 2002)

As for Cost of UCB;

I thought about the California for a while because if you become a resident (living in CA for a year) you don't pay to go to college. 

Sort of... It is true however that you don't have to pay the out-of state fees which is almost about 300% added costs of ur tuition.

In State fees are expected around $2000-$3000+ while out of State... $8,000+

Im not that informed on UCB campus and life since my major im looking forward to would be suited at a school other than UCB. However for UCSD, I can tell you it is one of the nicest campus right next to the beach. Very good medical and engineering programs at UCSD as well.

People like me would envy your position. I have yet to take the SAT but I hope the score I would recieve is acceptable at the UC. But my GPA and extra curriculars I hope will give me a good fighting chance. But then again, I wouldnt mind a easy college time since ill just be taking engineering and AFROTC. THen graduate and im off to be in d Air Force.

here you can take it any grade....my geometry class is mostly 11th grade...just depends on what you started out w/ 9th grade...the 11th graders in geometry took alg.1 freshmen year then alg 2 10th grade then geometry now...next year they will be in pre cal or some ish like that

i moved to this school this year & at my old school in washington, we took alg 1 & 2 all in one year so i'm a head of most 10th graders. but i have to take alg 2 over in 11th grade because here everything is a credit & it was only worth 1/2 at my old school

after browsing college confidential, i've decided that ivy league admissions is just unpredictable. people like you who get deferred freak me out. gawd. *depression*

anyway, justin, it depends what you're looking for and what your major is. i would scratch JHU right away if you're not planning to go into med. i'd also scratch NYU because it's almost equally as pricey as other more prestigious colleges on the list. Pepperdine.. no clue, but i'd scratch that too. so if you'd like to save money, go with Berkeley. i think i'd choose Princeton University, but i'm biased because i live on the east coast. Stanford seems more diverse, however (SEEMS). you sort of get that old money, prep school, haughty sort of feeling with princeton. also, it seems like you need money to fit in at princeton, with all the eating clubs and everything. the whole cliquish, exclusive aura.

An alternative approach would be to leave the country and try for Europe, theres a lot of good technological schools that if you graduate with a 3.8 or above you'll get into MIT in a heart beat. Much cheaper too, you might end up paying something like 40-50% less for the same if not better education. The one bad thing is traveling is hard and they have a different approach to teaching. That is how my uncle did it, he graduated MIT in 94? Something like that. He went to a sister school of Oxford's for 4 years then transferred to MIT with honors and almost a full scholorship. ofcourse this was back in the day, things might have changed since then

All I can tell you is that PEpperdine costs around $8,000 for one year if you don't live there. If you do, of course it will be more expensive. I recommend Berkeley because I heard it was a very hard but good university.
