Alot of people I know associate asians with being super smart..or reallii good at math ..Do you know anyone who gets mad because of this stereotype or it just doesnt matter ?


Just in case..im not Asian im Dominican ( hispanic ) and this isnt the way i feel towards asians just a simple question.

I'm Asian and most of the time yes I get A's on things. But usually I get 1 B on my report card.

Anyway, often I get A's, other other half of the time, I get B's. I've gotten C's on things before.. But it doesn't bring my grades down too much.. I'm trying to be a striaght A student, but there's always 1 teacher who can't teach and screws everyone over.

Anyway, I know people that ask me for things everyday. I don't mind if it's my friends because usually, my friends would help me out when I need it the most. Thus, I think it's balanced out. But There's others who go and always ask me to let them copy this and that, asking me for the answers to the test... Yea, sometimes I do have answers for tests (yes, sometimes I do cheat), but even so, I had to do something in order to get those answers. Such as letting them copy something or helping them out with something, and they help me. Or I got a friend to teach me something to help me with a test because I was confused, and then some people would ask to copy my paper..

I'm sort of a pushover, thus I end up letting them.. sometimes I might say no, and I don't let them.

But most of the time, I know what I'm doing, so they might ask me about it and whatnot.

And for the most part, it's true. For some odd reason, a LOT of Asians are very talented in math. It's weird. =\ Only the extremely Americanized Asians don't do as well. I honestly wonder why. That's just weird logic.

I get annoyed when people ask me questions about homework or concepts in something. I get annoyed at anyone who doesn't take school seriously and slacks off...unfortunately I'm just not as nice as Just_Dream is. That's one of my resolutions though...stop being such a b*tch about everything.

Nope. Ppl at our school think were stupid. cause were the “ghetto” Asian peeps that hang out at the east yard. But we all maintain a nice gpa. Sure I drop my grades now and then, but I must say that I suck at algebra.

Our school stereotypes asians as being smart... But then again our school is 60% asian. Stupid school also kicks out people without an acceptable GPA so everyone in my school basically is smart. Which sucks cause a gpa of 3.90 could rank 20th while a gpa of 3.84 could bring u down to like rank 30 or something.

yeah it is a major stereotype but there are many others for the other races too. and usually the asian stereotype of being smart and good at math is only a stereotype because of how most asians act towards their school work. they try to work really really really hard because trust me, asian parents are hella strict about school and grades and crap. and no i don`t really know anyone that gets totally offended by it, just annoyed. i think that it gets annoying and possibly offensive when a person relates everything they say and that happens, to stereotypes. like i know a kid who will be like, "oh it`s because i`m asian huh?" "you don`t get straight A`s?..omg but you`re asian!!" and says stuff like that all the time. that`s when it`s time to say stfu =) haha
ohh one more thing, haha i think most people who talk about stereotypes and racist remarks and such, (like that one kid i was talking about) talk about it so much because them, themselves make a lot of stereotypes and might actually believe in them.

i don't think all asians are really smart or really good at math.
there are a lot of asians that go to my school, and only some are really smart and good at math.. i'm asian, but i don't think i'm really good at math, and i'm not saying that i'm really smart either. i'd say i'd fall in between with the average people. :)

Personally, I'm horrible in math, but I do make up for it in other classes that I happen to do well in. People from my school do make that stereotype that because I'm Asian, I'm automatically SUPER SMART! Wrong. It almost makes me feel bad when they copy off my homework because they end up getting a 42 .. hahaha. Then they completely blame me for it.

Actually, now that I think about it, IMO, this is from person to person. If you build a rep that you're smart at the beginning of the year, people will t hink you are smart, regardless of your race. (at least, at my school it's like this) So people just, automatically ASSUME you are smart.

I`m asian, my friends are known for having good marks lol I used to be but I got lazy to study and pay attention in class so I get B now lol. Yes, sometimes it is annoying! My town used to have cheap, big rich-looking mansions years ago and now they've gone up a bit so that's why a lot of people in our town are so rich and they sort of don't talk to not-rich people.

i don't really mind; i mean, it can only work to my advantage. i don't think that it's the asian race that is intelligent.. it's just that most of the asians who had the ambition and money to immigrate to the United States were determined scholars. also, it might have something to do with the way asian kids are raised. they're taught to value knowledge, learning, and hard work.. for example, in china, scientists and college professors are very highly respected.

I agree with Mindy... It also works to my advantage, at times. Teachers don't pick on me as much because they think by the fact that I do the work that I don't need to prove anything to them. I'm not smart--I just do the work lol. I am flattered that people would think that Asians are more intelligent... Although I agree with Mindy about the fact that Asian immigrants came here, determined to achieve their goals and have a good education. Also, I've heard that back in Asia, school and education is a lot tougher than here. It just really depends, that's all.

I should be flattered in a way, but people shouldn`t judge others because they`re Asian, or because they`re black, hispanic, etc. If you`re smart, then you`re smart. You`re smart because you study and do all that.
