i'm finishing this longass project for AP language that's due tomorrow. This is what I have to have done in 5 hours before I have to leave for school:

-Select 20 quotations which support a theme or characterization. Explain which theme/characterization the quote supports.
-Choose a representative passage of the work which illustrates the author's style. Tone and pluck, then write an essay explaining how the author uses the resources of language.
-Create 10 AP syle multiple choice questions about the author's style and use of language. Include an explanation of the answer.
-Locate 3 reviews on my novel. write a compare/contrast informal analysis.
-Write a 20 minute speech which includes:
Introduction to the book
Comments on characterization/themes
Comment on the reviews
Draw and color five pictures, each depicting how the book reveals about 1)society, 2) relationships, 3) happiness, 4) history, 5) politics
-Make a PowerPoint presentation to go along with the speech

AND i have 5 hours to do this. But the problem is, can I stay awake? Who here has some good tips at staying awake and staying focused? If anyone's still up... haha...

If you start feeling sleepy, get up and take a walk outside.
Also, iced coffee works better than hot coffee.

chew gum, it'll keep you preoccupied and help you remember. if u decide to drink coke or any caffinated soda remember that you'll have to pay for it afterwards, cuz once the caffine wears off in your body your body gets really tired and it slows your preformance, mind, and body. good luck mellow.gif

I'm probably too late yo give you any advice, but I agree, apples can help. I ate one today for luncha nd right after I felt so awake! And apples are healthy for you. Oranges make me feel energized too! Of course, most fruits do anyway.

I agree with HikaruTakekawa because the thing with soda is that it often has caffeine in it. And caffeine with make you all hyper and awake for maybe like a few hours, but right after, you get all sluggish and your whole body crashes. You'll most likely fall asleep after 3 hours from it, unless you drink so more. But the more you drink, the more energy is being used up in too little time. So when you have to present the project, you'll end up fainting or falling asleep. And ESPECIALLY if you're really tired, you'll forget alot of things.

I pulled alot of all nighters thge beginning of this school year because of all my AP US History crap. I actually spent 8 hours writing notes for ap us history, and then I'd also be reading the chapter. I never finished, either. pinch.gif I gave up on those damn outlines and I know it's bad but I often copy from a my boyfriend and the internet haha.

Also, I had this in class essay, and I was soo tired. So I accidentally fell asleep, then I woke up at 3 AM. I freaked out and then started rushing. I cut out alot of quotes and pasted them. I started to write an outline for the essay. I was soo tired omg. Because I had to read all these photocopied papers, only using 1/7th of the material, and I had to memorize the 6/7th of the papers i had in order to know the information to write the essay. but i actually had like 2 hours of sleep.

A friend of mines (Seungchan) told me that if you sleep for like maybe 1-2 hours.. or a few hours, you'll feel energized. No 10 minute naps. They make you more tired because in my opinion, within the 10 minutes, my body starts to fall asleep, so it's harder to wake up.

i usually just take a nap for like 2 hours around 10PM-ish.. then wake up and work till 6AM and get ready for school.. it works for me.. but the bad thing is sometimes, i ignore my alarm and sleep right through and get no work done...

so if you're gonna do that, make sure you'll be able to get up... leave all the lights on or something...

sigh.. gotta love all nighters..

Eh so did you get to stay up all night? I don't take anything to stay up usually, I just do.

But it's easier when there are other people awake with you. Which is usually the case with me when there's a project that big.

Well prolly ur done with ur report but haha speaking about SODA wut really helps are those power drinks like monster...

Last year right before finals I crammed like crazy. I actually didnt sleep for like 3 days straight. I ate nothing but drank all these monster drinks. Prolly drank like 50 that week. On the 4th day (week before finals) teachers noticed i was constantly shaking so they sent me home... or more like called my parents who forced me to go home.

One thing though anything carbonated weakens ur bones.... haha go figure a couple days after school ended i would break my arm.

eat proteins or carbohydrates because they give you energy. and if you start to fall asleep get up and move and run in place or stretch to get your blood flowing again. whatever you do, when pulling an all-nighter, don`t take a break and lay down or anything haha because you will definetely fall asleep =) or you can take cafeine pills, i hear those work wonders. oh and if you do decide to sleep take a nap in 3`s my friend said. like 30 minutes or 3 hours or 6 hours, etc. like that. supposedly that makes you more energized. and it really is better than like a 10 minute "power nap" because those just make you feel even more tired after you wake up from them. also maybe have some noise to keep you awake. like the tv on or music on or something like that.
