And they grow up to have sex with other people, who also don't know who their fathers or mothers were, so it's very possible for them to have sex with their brothers or sisters and not know it. This one woman they interviewed in the documentary had really complicated relatives. Something like her aunt was also her sister, and all that messed-up-ness. Again, I'm saying, THIS ONLY HAPPENED IN A RURAL MORMON COMMUNITY, RULED BY THIS EVIL TYRANT OF A LEADER. A NORMAL MORMON FAMILY WOULD HAVE NO SUCH RELATIONS. |

Bleh it seems like so many people are confused about religion, I was taking a theology class, and an ap world history class, and religion was a siginificant part of the education. Mormon, or LDS like stated ahead^ were founded by joseph smith, they do not in any way condone or accept the practice of polygamy or incest. Polygamy was established in the past because of the call of men to fight in the civil war(resulting in many of them dieing), which placed the beginnings of the mormon faith with a 10% male population. (but in no way is polygamy practiced or accepted by the church in contemporary times)
There are known cases of people who consider themselves as mormons who go off, and practice a different lifestyle than what the church advises. That's why some people hear about incest associated with a mormon community, in no way does the church accept it or affiliate themselves with these people. sFot_Freak ur mormon?! cool i am too! ok but first of all we don't believve in incest, or more than one god, and we don't belivev in mutplie marriages.. ok i would know bcuz im mormon.. we have one god one spouse and NO incest.. cuz thats nasty.... back in the OLD times men were aloud to have multiple wives if the wife died but this does not go for the women, they can only have ONE husband... if u don't beliveve me just go to My Webpage trust me i know....

That's basically what sets them apart from the christian world. That and they have guidelines, on how to live morally, and righteously. Don't listen to the rumors abour religion people! At first I was skeptical, and awkward around other religions, but after taking AP World History and Theology classes, I've learned that some religions are not what the world percieves them to be. And don't judge a whole religion for the doings of people who consider themselves part of that religion and do things against the religions principles. For example, there are many christians in the world that beat their wives, rape kids, yet we judge the religion for what it stands for *jesus christ* and we don't base our opinions on some of the members of that religion that do not follow the principle of their own religion. |

Im mormon and some of you all have it wrong. ok first of all, we USED to do polygamy, but i also think a lot of people did way back in the day. there MIGHT be mormon people today that stilll, but its not a practice of our religon. Also about the incest thing. it happenes to mormons just as much as it happenes to other people and again, it IS NOT a practice of our religon. and dont even bother arguings saying that we do polygamy because i think i know more about my own religion than you do. Plus, i like the rules we have. We actually arn't that strict, we just have great morals. the only thing i dont like is having to get up for early morning seminary!
