Do you think its fair for the government to pass abortion for pregnant women? I think yes it is, because if they dont want babies, they dont have to. If the woman and the doctor both agrees, she has the rights to kill the baby.

I agree, but then again, there could be those people who would just sleep around and wouldn't care because she could just get an abortion if she were pregnant.

Ballad of the Abortion Doctor

The shady street with clinics three,
Looked westward from the slums.
And thrice each day the doctor took,
A fetus in his arms.
The woman here was loose and poor,
And easily rivaled every whore.

And where she went on sex intent,
She did what women can.
Her dauntless ways did all men praise,
Her fetus was unplanned.
The world was for abortion made,
To be pregnant and not afraid.

The nurse who put the girl to sleep,
Offered her jasmine tea.
Said the doctor who’d do the deed,
“Like me, you will be free!”
The cities all refuse to slaves,
Their parties and drug-addled raves.

Nebraska groans with fundies,
Has hicks enough and more.
We work and build by human seas,
A clinic for the poor.
For day by day could city slums,
Our honest labor overpay.

We pay no heed to right-wing nuts,
We hold our rights and shall.
Supported always by the free
Defended by the law.
For what avail the plough or sail,
Or land or life, if freedom fail?

The noble doctors we promote,
Disown the fundie fools.
Each pregnant girl shall have her choice,
Each doctor have his pay.
Our union of women and men,
Shall persist now and every day.

The doctors of these clinics three,
Hung out their welcome signs.
Along the sidewalks lined with trees,
Where feet of millions stride.

Here rose the clinics that towered,
What barbershops were here,
And while many Christians cowered,
Abortions without tears.

What place do rival issues have,
Among the Democrats.
Welfare, gays, and the income tax,
Abortion was the most.

Our woman laughed about her child,
The doctor said: “Good day!
I greet you well, you fair lady,
To the table and stay!”
The world was for abortion made
To be pregnant and not afraid.

“For you,” he said, “no babies be,
For you no mother’s sums,
No coat hangers will you need when,
You go back to the slums!”

O’ proud clinic beside the streets,
With protestors and thugs out front,
Bring the women from sea to sea,
And offer service not affront.

Bad news from Rick on Capitol Hill,
“You are killing well,” said he.
“Now by these edicts be it known,
You shall not abort partly born.
Unless we can be sure they’re gay,
Honor thy family and these laws.”

“Not so,” said Eddy, “good my lord,
You won your election here.
We pay you for your bread and board,
Two hundred grand a year.
You talk only of homophobes,
Who give millions for prejudice,
But for freedom never a cent.”

The zygotes came, and who could blame,
If doctors did the deed.
As fetuses went down the drain,
Into the trashman’s heap?
For what avail the plough or sail,
Or land or life if freedom fail?

The doctors braved the Catholic priests,
Found friendship in the Left.
And judged joined the clinics’ cause,
High on the courtly bench.

O’ noble jurists, never fail!
O’ day that freedom made!
O’ happy women who could read,
The case of Roe v. Wade!
O’ brightest light in darkest night,
That never faltered from the right.

Fundies quaked in fear as they craved,
The secret force to find.
Which fired the Supreme Court to save,
The rights of womankind.

But left is might through all the world,
Red state to blue state women clung,
Through good and ill abortion hurled,
Till doctors cheered and clinics rung!

The courts deciding day by day,
Restores fair freedom’s art.
So let each woman in the world,
Keep abortion at heart.
Till this land be choked with fundies,
Or o’er the seas dead babies flow.

i dont believe in abortion. it should be the womans respoinsibility for choosing to have sex to begin with, when she wasnt able to deal with the consequences. rape? killing the baby will not kill the memories, no matter what idiots like my father think. if she does not have relatives who could help her care for the baby, theres always adoption, the fostor program, or welfare. while welfare should not be used for lazy people like it is today, it does exist for extreme situations like that. so it may change her lifestyle. that was predetermined when she was raped initially. quite often, rape is spawned by a persons own sluttiness, and so they deserved it to begin with. of course that is not always the case, but typically something has provoked it.

and theres always the chance that the baby will be a stillborn. or shell have a miscarriage. in fact, you can just force yourself to have a miscarriage and throw yourself down a flight of stairs. itll accomplish the same thing and cost a whole lot less. plus, it will leave you with physical pain for only a short amount of time, while abortions could be more painful (i think) and for people with morals, leave permanent emotional damage

It would be wrong for government to pass abortion for women, or make that decision in general. But I like the idea of women having choice.

it was her choice to have sex, so why not her choice to kill a 'child'?
i put the word 'child' in quotes because it depends on what you believe a child is. or, better stated, when is a child considered a "child"?
it depends on religion, morals, etc...and so prochoice, in my opinion, would work.

er...and a side note:
even if abortion was outlawed, people would still have abortions..it'd just be illegal and probably with less medicinal help. and with less medical advancements in that area, the mothers are more susceptible to death.

In my opinion, killing something that has a life or will have a life is morally incorrect; to me it would be the same as killing a human being. But even though I believe that, there are always circumstances that would be an exception to the rule. If a woman is pregnant because she chose to partake in sexual intercourse, then she should not be allowed to have an abortion because it was her choice to do so. If a woman was raped, as in forced into sex without giving consent to the man who had sex with her, then I don’t believe that she should suffer in having a baby when she never had a choice. And even if a woman did have sex and was even slightly fearful of pregnancy, she could obtain “the morning after pill”. That way, since the baby would not have even started to develop, it would be prevented and no abortion would be needed. The predicament with this is that just to receive an abortion a woman would lie stating that she were raped instead of actually having been so. =[ It's sad...

abortion for one is wrong..i mean a mother that kills her baby just becuz she doesnt hav the time or resources..she shouldve thought of that before she had sex...but it doesnt give the government the right to ban abortion its not that right..but in a way..theyre forcing women everywhere to make the right decision.

maybe the hospital was thinking that by having an abortion, it would actually help the 'baby' ?

I'm willing to bet that abortions are expensive and painful. So sluts who get pregnant might learn a lesson, anyway.

Women/people in the United States should have the right to have an abortion if they want to, regardless of morals, simply because in this country it's all about choice (like Burger King <-- ignore that)... But then, if that were true, gay marraige would be legal. That's an entirely different topic, however, and I won't get into that.

Another problem is that if a child is born you dont want another kid being neglected and wishing they would die because their mother didn't want them in the first place. =/ But it also depends on how responsible the mother or parents are too.

Even if the doctor and the woman agrees, doctors can't because they signed the contract the moment before they become a doctor for helping people live and not killing them. (babies included)

Social life's aren't as important as giving life. You know how many kid's.. how many girls do drugs, drink, sleep around even more, etc, when they have their abortions? Some even commit suicide.

I can't support abortion. There's another option. Abortion is the cowards way out. Don't even argue that point. Sure, it'll hurt and shit... but.. try this one on for size. Has anyone ever heard of a little thing called adoption? If you give your child up for adoption, I was adopted by the way - I know what I'm talking about - , you're aware of the child. It moved, it kicked you. You gave birth to it. You might have held it. You might have said hello. Then, to be okay with that and sign papers saying that you wanted nothing else to do with it and didn't want to raise it (mind you, you'd have those motherly instincts already), that's true courage. I'd like to see a lot of those women to try it.

If you're sleeping around - you're a slut. No way to deny that. You'll probably get 10 different STDs and AIDs or something. Or, you'll be the lucky few who have nothing happen to them. Nothing but a pregnancy. That's nothing that a visit to the abortion clinic wouldn't fix. Think again. Emotional scaring is there.

I don't know. I'm passionate about this one because of me being adopted. I don't support killing life, which I believe starts in the womb (otherwise, how could the child kick and move around? It has a brain. It's thinking, as much as children that age can... but that's a different topic).

i'm thinking of the children right now...

and i'm thinking of how in a fetus the central nervous system doesn't develop untill late....

i'm thinking about how a heart will still beat for a few beats after being cut out.

i'm thinking of how many people walk away from abortion clinics and choose adoption

i'm thinking of the people who throw babies into dumpsters.

and i'm thinking this would happen a lot more if abortion was illegal

please think of the kids.

oh, but the republicans want us to belive they're alive:

president bush has required sex ed banned, and abstinace programs replace them.

this is something from the book;

"the sperm and the egg unite in the lower third of the fillopian tube. this is where life begins."

and they also go on to say " 24 chromosomes come from the mother and 24 chromosomes come from the father to for the baby"

- last time i checked, we weren't chimpanzees (great apes have 48 chromosomes, humans have 46 (2 have fused) )
