ok, well i know a lot of people who like drop out college just to piss their parents off and stuff, and a lot of people hurt themselves (slit wrist......) just to prove a point. i mean, thats great, i guess you are very courageous and stands up for ur view, but i mean, isn't drop out of college and slit ur wrist a little too extreme? its like ur screwin with ur own life and i think its really dumb.. n e ways, just my opinion.

When people cut, they're not trying to prove a point. They just feel like they have no more alternatives. Yeah, we all know it's stupid, I know that. But when you're that low and depressed, you can't think straight anymore. You'd do anything just so that the emotional pain goes away, even if it was for a little while.
I used to cut. When I was feeling normal I'd think "Geez why the f*ck am I doing this? It's stupid." But when i get depressed again I didn't care. I just wanted to not think about everything for a while. Don't talk crap if you don't know what these people go through everyday. Geez there are like a billion topics on this and I've replied on almost all of them, can't you people just let it go? |

I think well some of my friends excuses for cutting is it takes their mind of of emotional pain, and instead feels physical pain. I guess it jus makes them forget about their problems, and focuses on something else. As for dropping out of college, it's their choice, i just don't get why they would pay so much money, or waste their parents money. I'd just tell my mom that i'm gonna go to college for whatever i want, and if she still wants to help me, then i appreciate it. If not i'll pay for my own way. Maybe kids just need the money for college, so they do what their parents want

why would someone do that? well sometimes ppl are just like that. some ppl are just depressed [this is for the slitting wrists]. besides slitting wrists is more of an emotional problem. they're not trying to prove a point. and if they were then i can bet that they're only looking for attn. not to end their lives.
as for dropped out of college just to piss of your parents, that's there choice. if they got into college, they should be smart enough to know what they're getting themselves into and should hopefully have a bigger reason to drop out other than parents. |

i've never tried cutting myself (and i am not planning to), but how does cutting yourself make the pain go away and how does it help the cutter mentally? i don't get why people cut themselves, and my friend made herself pretty clear that it's not to make a point... i just don't get it, what does it do that make people do it again and again?

Like people have previously stated, people don't cut/slit their wrists to "prove a point". They usually do it to "benefit" themselves at the time.. or they're doing it for attention, but they're certainly not doing it to prove a point. |

yes, i do suppose its the new trend. and a lot of poeple, actually most do it for a cry for attention. but you can't just assume thats the case for everyone. cutting doesn't mean your depressed. its doesn't mean your suicidal. its really different for everyone...just people need to stop fcuking assuming they know what its like, even if they used to do it they can't say they know what the scenario is like for everyone. some people may not think cutters deserve to live, but its THEIR choice. not yours. people need to back off..i understand the concept of opinions, but some people are just a tad bit too opinionated, because they dont know whats going on in other peoples lives...*cough* well thats just my 2 cents =X |

My boyfriend's brother dropped out of college after 3 years. And he was really smart and he even had a free scholarshop to go to the private school. But he dropped out. And now he's making alot of money becuase he now owns a car accessory store. I'm just saying that college is important, but there's other opportunities out there. my brother even got his bachelor's degree eand he still couldn't find a job. I know that's a little off topic, But still college isn't everything to everyone. And maybe they just wanted to do their own thing. People choose to do things because they want to. Not just so they can piss others off or something. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, in their eyes, it's not screwing up their life.. maybe bettering it. And I don't know anyone who slits their wrist to prove a point. PROVE WHAT point? I don't know anyone who would slit their wrist JUST so they can. And it's not ruining their life, in their eyes.
