What would you do if you knew someone who cut themselves? i know it's dangerous but my friend does it cause of problems at her/his house. what should i do? or can i do anything?

I agree with teenprincess, it's better to say something about it than to conteplate whether you should or shouldn't because it gets worse with time.

see that's the thing, i talked to her about it, but i still see new cuts on her wrists...and we've talked to the youth counsler at church about it but...it just dont do any good...

yeah, my friends does it too.... it's just so weird imagining someone you know doing that to her/himself... yeah, talk to her, just hope that she will listen

I know a friend who's cut herself.. but ONCE.
She doesn't do it anymore.

But like...
when she told me...
she was all " ure gonna give me a boring lecture "
i mean.. i don't think you should bore them with lectures..

maybe she should see a school counselor or something, or try talking her out of it. she'll listen since ur her friend. if she doesnt, i dont know, maybe u need to tell someone else who can help (if she wont get mad)

lots of my skumates have scars on their legs and arms

they do this whenever they dont feel good
some of them play it for fun
some of them claim to "test" the cutters using their wrist

well someone told on my friend that he was thinkin bout suicide and all this other stuff to a counselour and the counselour didnt help at all and it just made him more depressed.

just talk to ur friend and tell ur friend how u care about her and u never want to see her just dissapear one day bc of the cutting

You should try to tell her that it's bad, that she coudl die from it. Say it ina worried, caring voice. Even if your friend gets mad; just tell him/her that you're there to talk to, that you want to help. If s/he says that they don't want your help, that they wouldn't understand, then just tell them "well I'm here to listen, if you need me." And just back off. Don't try to keep pressuring him/her to tell you. But anyway, I don't know what you really should do since I've never cut before, nor do I know anyone who cuts. But the best thing to do is to give them some space, but reassure them that you do care, that you would miss them alot if they died, that there are people who care about them and they should try to find a new hobby to keep them busy, instead of hurting themselves.

There is a member here who has started weightlifting (I believe) and stopped cutting. She knows who she is and I just want to tell her sorry for mentioning this. But I'm glad that she has found a new way to relieve stress and pain, in a healthier way. congratulations to her.

aww....that must be real hard trying to talk to her....well u should try really really hard trying to convince her not to one more time...then if she doesnt then u should tell her parents and get everyone in her life trying to stop her. she might feel like u betrayed her by telling her parents and people but u should tell her right back its only because u love her and u don't want her to hurt herself. then give her a great bigg hugggg! =)
