I think everything happens for a reason. For me, they've been pretty good reasons. for example, my ex- best friend started acting all bitchy towards me for no reason and ditching me for everything and hogging all of my other friends. but then i got way closer to an awesome girl i was kind of friends with before and i was happy again.

So everythangg happens for a reason _smile.gif

Whatchu think?

agree
however it depends on whether the reasons are good or bad
if the reasons are bad
people consider it as "no reason"

yes i agree..its the quote i live my life by. Sometimes bad things will happen and sometimes good things will happen, we wont know why now..maybe not even in 2 days, weeks, months, or years, but someday we will find out why something happened to us or our family or someone/something we care about. Everything happens for a reason.

I believe things just happen, and we find reason in them. Karma doesn't exist either. Someone will do something bad to us and we wish the plague upon them, and the first time something happens to them we yell, "B*tch, there's your karma!". In all reality we were waiting for something to happen. You really can't believe that other person would have lived their entire lives without something bad happening. Everyone gets raped in this things we call life. We can't handle that there is probably no logic or answer to anything and that everything is really just a random sequence of events. Things don't happen for a reason, we just find reason for them so we can sleep more comfortably in our beds at night. The only true thing I have found is that things will not always work out how we want them, but they will always work out for the best. Doesn't mean fate is plotting our destiny's in the stars. It simply means we are a surviving species. We adapt and find ways to live more comfortably. We make the best out of everything. Some just take longer than others.

So sorry to break it to you those who live so comfotable believing their is always something guiding you and protecting you, but in all reality you are probably alone.

The only reason anything happens is because humans think about something to do, and the brain sends nerve signals to parts of the body. Then your limbs start working - oh, how miraculous!!! Then you start doing stuff with your flailing limbs, and things start to happen MIRACULOUSLY.

^ sarcasm.

No, I don't think things happen for "reasons". I think people who say that are just people who don't want humans to take responsibility for what they do. Because everything that happens is created by PEOPLE, not some unknown force that controls our every move.

As for my motto:

As for my motto:

That would be a false statement. I agreed with you, as I had written almost the same thing, until you said that everything happens because of humans. There are elements that happen that are out of any humans grasp. Cancer, Tornadoes, etc. In those situations no human is responsible, except sometimes with cancer.

Okay, I agree. Humans don't WANT cancer to happen, nor are they capable of conjuring up tornadoes. But there are reasons for tornadoes happening, are there not? There are scientific studies, good, hard evidence. Tornadoes happen for reasons. Cancer happens for reasons. Reasons that can be backed up with evidence. What I should have said is that everything that happens can be backed up with true "reason", and not emotional "reasons". (see definition in next paragraph).

It's kind of weird to me how people overuse this phrase, "everything happens for a reason". Reason is the ability to think criticially and draw logical conclusions. Most of the "reasons" people use for that phrase are not logical at all.

I don't want to seem like an emotional prude or anything, but I think that humans can take control of whatever they do, and we shouldn't go and think that things happen without our knowing.

existentialism.

Main Entry: ex·is·ten·tial·ism
Pronunciation: -'ten(t)-sh&-"li-z&m
Function: noun
: a chiefly 20th century philosophical movement embracing diverse doctrines but centering on analysis of individual existence in an unfathomable universe and the plight of the individual who must assume ultimate responsibility for his acts of free will without any certain knowledge of what is right or wrong or good or bad

That is my take on things.
