Now, I think I'll be the first one to do this.
I think we need discussion in this thread and the like, not limiting ourselves to only submitting and commenting work.

So I'll start us off with a cheesy question! laugh.gif

My inspiration comes from self-conflict, what goes on in my head, my views on things, and experiences much note-worthy.
Sometimes just letting things out onto paper is so relaxing.

Oh, and BTW, let's try to keep this going, and not just a 'reply to the topic question' thread. Try asking about what inspired a certain work from one of the authors here, etc etc.

My inspiration is my life. I.E. I just wrote something about...well it's complicated. But I baisically put myself in my friends position and wrote an apology, because I needed to get my feelings about the situation out. Then I think something I wrote before that was just about a situation I have with this guy. I often

Most books I read are inspiration to me. Sometimes, I'm just standing there I see all these things and somehow, I want to write a story based on that. I've never really written poem that wasn't inspired by what's going on like love poems or just plain silly poems. Basically, it's what position I'm in when I think of a story.. _smile.gif

Okay, I'll ask you something there Joe, what inspired you to write Sanctuary. Yes it was an assignment, but there must have been some more feel behind it. x]

Anywhoo...me, my inspiration. Well lately I haven't really provided much of my work. I like to keep that to myself at times. Most of the time, more of my better work comes out when I'm angry at a situation that I cannot solve. Other times, I get inspiration when I'm at a state of confusion, where everything around me is circulating my ideas, but doesn't want to penetrate in them, leaving me dumb-founded.
Other times I get inspired when I see a cause in which people are disregarding because it has nothing to do with them, therefore, they're just letting it out to droop in the open--not acknowledging the real importance of it. So that's where I step in...I want to get some of those issues out in the open by expressing the gravity in them.
x]
That's all. Wee!

Of course there was a lot more to it.
Well for one, I saw it as the most fit answer.
I find myself deep in thought, dwelling in my own mind so much that it's like a second home. It's where I turn to for comfort. Reassurance. It's where we all turn to when we need to figure things out, try to make sense of the disarray that is our lives.

I wanted to make my mind come to life, as if an actual, tangible place. So I thought, "If my mind were real - physically attainable, what would it look like?" Which brought the line

My mind is a vast and endless valley where thoughts bloom in place of dandelions, fantasies fly in place of birds, and clouds of hope streak past a sun of poetry.
I just decided to have fun with the question and also sufficiently answer it at the same time.
So in the shortest answer, what inspired me to write it?
The appreciation of my mind.

BTW, I'm surprised you read it...I don't recall seeing a comment from you.

Inspiration eh? I'll say this is an interesting topic. Well, my inspiration comes from my emotions and everyday life. After school I usually take a nap and when I wake up refreshed, my mind becomes refreshed and I start thinking of two lines that either rhyme or don't. And I go off from the those lines that I think of.

well if art isn't a socail commentary or an expression of emotion it isn't anything important. ^random self-rightous statement

anyways, what don't i write about? girls cause heartache or joy, and they're both excelent inspirations. i write alot about being straight edge, too, because i need to be proud of my sucession from a suicidal generation. i don't really anymore, but religion (more anti-religion) was a great subject to write about. i've finished one and am working on 2 or three more political songs. who knew the most boring thing in the world when you were a kid could be so fun?! what else...

i write pretty silly songs to lighten my mood, also. some of these songs are about calling off sick from work, poking sarcasm at a trend i follow myself, and i'm working on one about how my friend, colleen, and i have oversized heads. hehe. if i think of more i'll be sure to edit this post.

haha. alot of my most powerful lines in my writings are thought of when i first wake up and i'm in the shower. i come up with alot of good ones at dances and while watching psychological horror films.

My inspiration is the spite i have within myself, along with what goes in my life, how i feel, and what the people in my head are saying.

Ehh.. thats crappy.
Lets go with.. "Because i feel like writing."

Or.. when my mind starts working at the wrong times...

That's very interesting. Appreciation of the mind. ;]
We should all come in contact with that appreciation; even I, at times have disregarded it.

Yes, sorry I didn't comment. x] I shall though. Much to say... ;]

If she'd ever come back, I want to ask Mel what inspired her to write the Tornado of Hurt...it's one of my favorite pieces.

My inspiration comes from all the negative in my life, as you'll see:

-Dad's death
-Moving constantly
-Girl problems

Etc, etc, etc...

everyone writes from experience... both direct and indirect (by indirect i mean knowledge from others, but either way, something is felt, and that feeling becomes inspiration).

however, it seems that a majority of people are inspired by the negativity in their lives (e.g. - crackedrearview). i guess it's true that the worst of emotions bring about the best of our work. i was once like that, but i'm no longer unhappy. i guess it just further supports that concept, because i haven't been writing much anymore (in terms of creative writing).

i do find myself ranting and raving a lot more, though. i guess when one is generally happy, s/he picks apart the little things in life and makes it entertaining.

my true inspirations are people, including loved ones as well as strangers... not in terms of their habits, their characters, or even their physical appearances, but more of their situations and mentality (i.e. putting myself in their shoes, if you will). i like thinking of the "what ifs" and "if onlys".

All joking aside, I know what your inspiration is. _smile.gif
'Cheesiness' is a word.

Anyone inspired by other sources, like music or, like Kim, writing?

What Inspires Me?

That is a big question.
My imagination. Music I listen to. Old journal's I find.
People I love, who don't even know me. God.

I feel like, if I forget to record a thought I'll lose it forever. If I forget to describe this really beautiful person, I'll forget their facial expressions.
I take pictures of things I see, so I'll remember what I was thinking when I saw them, and then write it down.
I'm not the best writer, and I probably will never be note worthy. But writing is a big part of me. It comes from my fears and my hopes. Even if I never become a great poet, or novelist, or journalist, or philosopher.... I'm content.... because it's not a job to me. It's my life.

Basically, whatevers pissing me off/bothering me, it inspires me.
It feels a lot better when I write it out, I feel that Ive let it all out and it becomes least of my worries afterwards..
Sometimes day dreaming helpz too. but yeah.

Oh yeah, I forgot about music. The biggest inspriration to my writing ever! When I take a nap I have music playing and that music I suppose gets intergrated into my mind where I start to think of my lines.

My inspiration is people. People have a specialty to them that sometimes can stand them out from other people. I can see it. I try to use it in a creative and magical way when I write cause these people have a special place in our lives. Therefore I want them to be beautiful. Most of the things I write are about happy things.

I don't know, actually.

That's a good question, Joe. mellow.gif

I guess if I feel bad about something. Or my friends && I are fighting and I didn't do anything, I try writing pieces of how they're feeling. You know, like their point of view in this whole thing.

Mehh, I guess I just write when it hurts. laugh.gif
