Alright, I seriously need to say something about this racism in my town. Tell me what you think:

Ok, my town is like, 90% white people. The town I used to live in like, 7 years ago was more white. It was more like 99.9% of whites. And they would always be like "ching chong chang" and me and my brother didn't exactly "fit in" cause we were chinese. So we moved to another town where probably 85% were asian. It was good but then we moved to this shit town. Ok, I hate the fact that they always ask me "can u speak chinese?". I mean, that's like asking if you can speak another language, i don't see what's so cool about it. If u wanna know how to speak it, get off your lazy ass and learn.

In 7th grade, there was this one kid, Devin. And he would be all "asians drive bad" and " asians are short ". Stereotypical stuff. And all this other shit. So one day I go online and see this girl (one of those people you would call popular and preppy and all they care about is there makeup, you know) and her profile would be all " omg im scared to go to the nail salons again cause the stupid chinks would probably break my nail or something". Ok, first of all, chinks, that word is like saying "nigga". I mean, you can say the word to other people of your own race but if you say that and you're not that, don't say it, it's offending. And second of all, it's more vietnamese people who own nail salons. So this girl, she goes and gets xanga. Xanga is probably like 95% asian. And that is stupid because first she's talking about chinks and then she joins something where the community is 95% asian. Okay?

So, 8th grade, Devin has gotten over the whole asian thing (kinda) and I have to sit with 5 other people in spanish and they act racist EVERY DAY. Asking questions like "are u part of the asian invasion?" or "i should use these eyes, they look like chinese eyes" and then does that fag thing where you make it look like an effing alien. And all these other shit.

I mean, you might think racism has stopped, but it seriously is going on everywhere. What are your opinions?

Racism has been around since.. well.. probably even before Christ..

I'm not sure when the Jewish were around, but I heard a long time ago they were always pushed away, and that's messe dup. Racism will never end. Personally, I think at one point, every has been a racist, whether they say they are or say they are not.

Racism will never end and there are countless times that people have made fun of others because of their races. Although, it seems like you think that racism mainly happens to Asians, or that is what I see from your point of view in what you typed. There's so many racists that don't like African-Americans, Mexicans, Jewish, Canadians, etc. Racism is initially bad, but there's racism everywhere, so there's no absolute escape from it. Even if you lived in America, and then came to Asia or something, there will probably be people who would still make fun of you, saying you're too Americanized and whatnot.

Of course this is based on what I see. So don't take any to offense.

Hahaha... Racism will never stop. mellow.gif

Well, that's just life... that's society for you... but xanga is 95% asian? since when? Where'd you get that number from?

And... another thing you talk about them being stereotypical to chinese people or asians... but then a line or so down you said that preppy girls only cared about their makeup... Which is also a stereotype done on your part.

Why are they so amused with another language [chinese, in your case]? Well, it ISN'T an easy language to learn, first of all. I mean seriously, you act as if they can just get up and learn it... You may think it is just a breeze since it may be [and most likely is] your first language. I guess what I'm saying is just let them be curious about it...

As for the stereotypes... blame the rest of the society... blame the media..

I believe we got racism because that's the defining factor that makes one feel unique compared to another. Like in the Middle East, they're all Middle East, so they fight wars based on religion, because thats the defining factor that separates them. Raciscm will go away once other species (aliens) begin to introduce themselves. Then that'll be the defining factor, and we'll start comparing ourselves to other species in space. Racism will still exist, just in a much smaller scale, like when maybe..Muslim people would have a dissagreement with Christianity. It's not that big a deal these days. (in america)

So. That's just my flawed flawed thesis on Racism.

oh yes i hate that.

like today this kid in my ipc class was being a jerk [well yeah he is everyday to everybdoy] and talking to me in a 'chinese accent' so i went off on him on how im not chinese and how im filipino and spanish. but yeah what do expect from a kid whos does drugs after school, drinks, has no respect? didnt hurt my feelings it was just immature and retarded.

in my debate class theres this kid george and they are ALWAYS making racial jokes about him. like 'oh dont pick on george hes egyptian' or 'go back to egypt' or 'we can cut your head off because your egyptian' and etc etc. stubborn.gif a- holes.

One of the biggest questions stereotypical people ask to Asians are "Do you speak Chinese?"

Yea, they're curious. I guess it's ok if they ask. Nothing bad about it.

But then some people follow up and go "Ching Chow Chong CHang choooo" (or something similar) and start cracking up.

Not funny. mellow.gif

BTW, Chinese is hella hard. Agreed.

1.] im not stereotyping them. They are serisouly all preppy and all they do care about is their make-up. And maybe their nails. I mean, all they talk about is " let's get our nails done!!!" or " my nail broke!! " or "omg my mascara is running!!"

2.] I mean, i don't care if they're amused about me speaking chinese. But most of the time, the would be all " omg can u say ____ in chinese!?? ". I mean, that is SO annoying...

Yeah.

I really hate it when people are so racist. I usually get made fun of cuz I'm 'white' and I'm pale and stuff like that. It's annoying.

P.S. I'm not white, just pale.

You're wrong. And yes, you are stereotyping them. I know plenty of "preps" and they don't care about their makeup or their nails.

^^ Totally gotta agree with that. You can't ever find a preppy that doesn't care about their appearance. So I guess that what makes, err, a prep.

racism sucks, but yeah it is everywhere alot o.o usually happens to the people, who are part of a minority in the society. I mean if there were more like 50% asians, do you think anyone would be saying shit then? yeah and it pisses me off sometimes too.. the driving jokes and all, theyre just stupid. people also think automatically that if youre asian you go out with an asian guy, which pisses me off, cuz i dont nessecarily always go out with asians.. and yeah. >.<"

What's wrong with caring about your appearance? Everyone should care about their appearance, really... It shows confidence and self-esteem. Or do you all just want to walk around looking like shit?

I usually don't hear racism comments at my school.. Everyone's pretty much nice. It's like 38% asian. And my middle school was 51% asian..

But I remember hearing this one chick talk about how a 'chino' flipped her off while driving? 'Can't drive for shit' stubborn.gif

Let me pick apart your topic for you, and point some nice little things out that you should be aware of before trying to rant about a sensitive subject like this.

---
QUOTE
So we moved to another town where probably 85% were asian. It was good
Hrrm, looks like you only seem to favor a town of people who happen to be of similar cultural background. Don't like diversity? You don't think that in that town there was just the same level of racism? Or did you overlook it just because they were 'your people.'

QUOTE
if you can speak another language, i don't see what's so cool about it. If u wanna know how to speak it, get off your lazy ass and learn.
What's so cool about it? The many advantages of being bilingual or multilingual is the ability to broaden your limits of communication. Now, I think that's a prety damn handy skill.

QUOTE
(one of those people you would call popular and preppy and all they care about is there makeup, you know)
I'm not even going to go through too much on this one, since people have already pointed it out. BTW, would it even matter if they were a prep or not? The fact is they made a racist remark, right? Why did you feel the need to label her? Aren't you just stooping down to her level? Nice job of keeping that chain of ignorance going, sweetie.

QUOTE
that word is like saying "nigga". I mean, you can say the word to other people of your own race
Oh, just because you're of the same race, you suddenly have the right to use racial slurs? I think I would still find it offensive, regardless of what cultural background the person using it is from.

QUOTE
And second of all, it's more vietnamese people who own nail salons.
Thanks for feeding to the stereotype that you were complaining about.

QUOTE
Xanga is probably like 95% asian
I'm so glad that you've gone through every existing Xanga and conducuted a chart to prove this statement.

QUOTE
And that is stupid because first she's talking about chinks and then she joins something where the community is 95% asian.
I'm guessing since Xanga is a "95% asian" community, it wouldn't be right for someone of another race to join, eh?

QUOTE
I mean, you might think racism has stopped, but it seriously is going on everywhere.
You're right, stereotyping, labeling and racism is going on everywhere. And guess what? It's going on in that post of yours.
---

Now, I'm not going to on about how racism is one of the worst things in the world, blah blah blah - I'm just going to point out that before you harshly judge the ones around you, take a good look at yourself and ask yourself whether or not you've done or said the same things.

i think she meant that the majority of xanga is asian, and she just threw out a random percentage. and she didnt say if you werent asian, it wouldnt be right for you to join xanga. what she meant was that girl obviously has problems with asian people - and it seems peculiar that she joins a community that consists of a lot of asian people.

and i dont think she said she was only comfortable with people of her own ethnicity. but that town was probably the only school she went to that the majority of the student body wasnt caucasion. i used to goto the highschool in the current town she lives in, and the actual percentage of caucasion students is 72%. there are some african american people (But theyre go there on scholarship. they all actually live in the city) There's probably like... 15 asian kids in the entire student body. and so what if shes more comfortable with people of her own culture? i am too. i think you're all reading into this too deeply.

Yeah, I know that she was trying to point out that Xanga is a largely asian-based community. But why even bring that up? I don't think that it's necessary to use that loosely based statistic to strengthen her argument.
You can't attack that girl based on the fact that she joined a 'large asian community' while being racist to them.
"Haha, omigod, what an idiot, this dumb bitch hates chinks, but she has a Xanga."
Really, I think that's a weak argument.
QUOTE
So this girl, she goes and gets xanga. Xanga is probably like 95% asian. And that is stupid

Tell me that there isn't a hint of closed-mindedness in that statement. Tell me how strong and credible that argument is, while standing the ground of trying to promote open-mindedness, racial equality and the elimination of ignorance through racism.

so what if it was a weak statement? does it matter? you get her point. i dont understand why people are so quick to "pwn" the noobs. lay off man, shes like.. what.. 13?

edit:// if i was in her position (which i was for three years) i would be pretty pissed off (which.. again, i was for three years.) i dont think theres even a hint of racial inequality in her post. shes just saying how she feels. the people there are incredibly close minded. (ten times more close minded then you think her post seems).

and even if that part of the argument was unecessary.. SO WHAT? she used it anyways. what are you going to do about it? just leave her alone. all shes saying is that there seems to be a lot of racism going around in her area. nothing more. nothing less. so stop picking her post piece by piece and overevaluating them. shes not MAKING an argument. shes making an observation.

Lay off?
I wasn't trying to disqualify the message of racism or anything of that caliber, I was only trying to point out that there was a lot of what she was attacking in her argument.
I wasn't 'attacking the noob'...Her post just seemed to have too many statements that conflicted with her message.

Okay, no more of this. [EDIT] No need for any more justification. I admit, I was a little out of place to 'overevaluate' her post. And by no means am I against the message she's trying to get through. Racism blows, nuff said.

but do you HAVE to point it out? you cant just take her message for what it is? its just an observation. you can either agree or disagree. theres no need to humiliate her.

edit:// and yknow.. when you're around people like that 24/7.. people who are ignorant and make fun of people of your own culture, just for kicks... well.. your opinion of everyone else can get a little skewed, if you know what i mean. you cant blame her if she feels more comfortable around people that have more in common with her. you cant blame her if she resents the "preps" that have annoyed her so much.

Yeah, sometmes I feel that you should have the right to start retaliating in the same fashion...but then again, I realize you're just stooping to their level.
It's a shame if your views are warped because of outside ignorance, and that's another issue about the whole thing...Racism tends to spawn more racism.

All I say is stereotypes and prejudices of any kind are not cool and really not fun. Especially for a person on the receieving side of a sterotype or prejudice. In which, I think almost everyone has been on the receieving end. Also, almost everyone has been stereotypical or prejudice. It is a fact of life. And it's an annoying and cruel one. Just try not to bring forth stereotypes or prejudices of your own. Or keep it to yourself. _smile.gif

That is all.

He was just trying to be funny... I mean being korean + pigtails= a handjob and a blowjob? umm No, I think it's any girl + pigtails= blowjob with handlebars... He said the joke wrong...

Okay... I'm tired of you people complaining, though... You think YOUR race is the only one that is stereotyped and discriminated against? People ask me if I'm from Mexico all the time... Or if I speak "Mexican"... I just simply tell them No and that the language that is spoken is called Spanish... I tell them I'm from Panama... and I'm not bothered by them asking me. Why? Because it SHOULDN'T ... some of you really need to learn how to deal with people and society... You really need to get it through your head that that is just how people are going to be and quit your bitching about it. And if is bothering you THAT damn much... why are you overreacting?

and i dont see how thats funny. he directed it towards a single ethnicity. i'd call that racism if anything. he was trying to be "funny" by being racist. maybe the joke is "any girl with pigtails" but he didnt SAY any girl did he? he said koreans girls. maybe its a different joke. maybe you're trying too hard to turn this into nothing.

Just because racism will always be around, doesnt mean we cant complain about it. Okay... mellow.gif

You guys are taking everything word for word about what I said... some things i exaggerate but whatever.

Ok, i guess this is just saying how in America, like, most places are probably gonna be caucasion people.

I mean, the school I go to, it has like, 10-20 african-americans, but they aren't even from my town. They're from another town because their schools are bad. My town is like, filled with caucasions.

And the people in my town, they're just weird. I mean, the girls that I talked about are being all racist and then joins something where the community has a lot of asians.

I mean, here, you hear at least 1 racist comment whether they're joking or not.

And like, everything is so... seperated at our school.
Like, the african-americans would sit with each other at lunch, and the asian people would sit with themselves. Heck, I sit with 2 other asians.

And maybe I used to word "prep" in a bad way. But sorry, that's what I call them and probably the rest of the school cause everyone in my damn town labels people. I mean, some people call me a freakin "chinese goth" when I'm not even goth.

And the teachers, they always mistake me and my other 2 friends.. we don't even look alike, and they probably mistake us because we're all asian. mellow.gif

Yeah.

Yeah, so just accept people are ignorant and let them continue their ignorant ways. Right. That sure makes for a better society.

That is the wrong attitude to have towards such a serious issue. Racism is not something to take lightly. Sure, its everywhere and it may not ever change for the better. But that doesn't mean that we should just accept it. If we continue to just ignore or not make a big deal out of it, how can we expect things to get better?

For example, if African Americans didn't take a stand and demand their rights, segregation may still be in effect today. There would also be even more racist attitudes towards black folks than there already is today. But because of folks like Martin Luther King Jr. who made an effort and spoke out against racism, things have improved immensely, and not just for them but for other minorities as well.

There is no real solution to racism. But we must not allow it or simply accept it. What we CAN do is to rid people of their ignorance and speak out against it. If someone makes a racist remark towards your race or any other, discuss it with them and correct their misjudgement. Don't sit there and laugh or just get angry and not say a thing.

QUOTE(AzNxJenny91 @ Oct 19 2004, 9:03 PM)

What are your opinions?

suck it up i lived in nc you want to talk about racist hahahahah you dont know what that is boxing.gif

Hahahahaha... Oh man...

Why not just f*cking accept it? You don't have control over any people... Racism is always going to exist... even if the government tried to do something about it.

Sure, go ahead and let it out about how you feel about the subject... but I'm tired of all these people assuming things... thinking everything is 'racist' without putting any thought of understanding into it... Brush it off your shoulders, people... There's a slight chance that people will stop being 'ignorant and racist' in your favor... but that is going to take some time... probably a long time... So, stop complaining about it and deal with it now... It's going to be like this for a while.

edit// Aren't any of the other races that are not caucasian racist and ignorant, as well? Hmm... hypocrisy.

maybe after three pages of this, only asians were mentioned, because THE ONLY PEOPLE POSTING IN THIS TOPIC ARE ASIAN. they never SAID that other races werent discriminated against.. why? BECAUSE THEYRE ASIAN. NOT EVERY OTHER RACE. (discluding me)

QUOTE
Why not just f*cking accept it? You don't have control over any people... Racism is always going to exist... even if the government tried to do something about it.

right. and you dont have control over people who are naturally offended by racism and discrimination, right? it goes both ways. so maybe you should just practice what you preach and get over it.

QUOTE
It is a joke, by the way. He aimed it towards koreans because he was trying to be funny... I didn't f*cking say it WAS funny...

trying to be funny in a racist way? its a racist joke. get real.

QUOTE
Sure, go ahead and speak up about it... but tell someone that can actually DO something...

she was making an observation. she didnt say anyone had to do anything about it. and further more, if you dont like this topic and how people are bitching about it, then why even waste your time with it? stop reading it, maybe? obviously no ones going to stop bitching just cuz u said "stop bitching"

QUOTE
edit// Aren't any of the other races that are not caucasian racist and ignorant, as well? Hmm... hypocrisy.

um.. how is that hypocrisy? if caucasion people were the only people that have been racist to them in their lifetimes, i dont see how thats their fault.

me on the other hand.. i have black relatives who are racist towards me because im asian. and i have asian relatives who are racist to me because im black. i have french and russian relatives that are just racist all together. there. no hypocrisy there, right?

i think the only person really bitching about something that will never change is you. being hurt and offended by racism and discrimination is a natural reaction. you cant do anything about it. we have a right to be offended. but i dont see why you have to bitch at us about it.

no actually i get your point. its just a stupid one.

you first talk about how only asians have been posting in this, and somehow that means they think theyre the only ones being victims of racism.

but thats wrong. just cuz the only people posting are asian, doesnt say anything about racism with other cultures. how about the people of other ethnicities post here and maybe it wont just be the asians, and you can stop the silliness.

you go on to say that what the kid said was just a joke and he was trying to be funny, even though you personally dont think it was.

well it doesnt matter. its still a racial joke. and people will still be offended by it.

you're saying people should just learn to deal with society and peoples ignorance, because racism will always be around, no matter what. it wont change, no matter how much u bitch about it. so stop being whiney and deal.

well thats just a crappy attitude to have either way, and hypocritical at that. theres nothing you can do about people being offended. people are always going to be offended. that is also how society works. people f*ck up, and others get offended, and its just one big cycle. so stop bitching to us about it and get over it. you're not helping anyone stop bitching by bitching yourself.

then you make an edit saying that the only racism mentioned was caucasians being racist to other ethnic groups.

but if the only people being racist to them for their entire lifetimes have been caucasian, i dont see how that can be helped.

if you really think i missed the point, then you obviously didnt read carefully enough, because i quoted each point and responded to it. i dont see how you could have missed THAT.

Thanks, and please, no one go back in response to neither trish nor mel's replies because youre just gonna add fuel to the fire.
Yeah.

So, I think that in new york, there isnt much racism as we are really diverse, and even in my private school, where most are white, they dont have many stereotypes on me. so its good. im clean.

im not trying to start drama. im just responding to what she says. mels my friend; we just have two totally different perspectives.

disagreeing =/= drama

edit://

i think the only reason kids our age are still racist today is because they were raised that way.. they dont really know any better (unles theyre just morons..) i mean.. my cousins are racist.. but theyre really good people otherwise.. their parents are the ones who made them this way...

the right thing would be to learn about all this when you're in school... starting from a young age... i mean learning about how racism is stupid and etc... believe it or not, some schools dont even teach about black history, or any of that, so the kids grow up being completely oblivious to it all, and end up having a skewed perspective.

fuk racism wacko.gif

i remember this one time during maths class this chinese girl who sat across the aisle from me and she got 1 mark off perfect and she was all complaining and then this guy was like "why the fuk are you complaining? you're like one of the highest" and then this italy-born guy was all "thats coz she's chinese. she wants to be perfect in everything" and stuff. stereotype is that chinese and asians and such are supposed to be braniacs or something. but hey, they cant help it if theyre fuking smarter than them.

lol but racism to white people happen too. like one time during english class (in this class, there were tons of asians) and then this guy started calling this white guy 'milk boy'. for obvious reasons. lol.

soo.. yah.

Yeaa.. I don't think racism will ever stop. Everybody stereotypes (some more than others). I don't make much of a deal about it, but I do get annoyed. Especially when people do that Ralph Macchio "crane" stand and say "haaii-yaww!" =___=

I totally agree with everyone about the ching chong stuff. I rememebr in elementry school everyone would ask me how to say _______. I was never really bothered by it though because they were just curious. THe ching chong stuff really bothered me beccause i guess it's just stupid to make fun of another lang.

But in a way you are stereotyping. I'm chinese, but a lot of times i can't tell the real difference between chinese and other asian races. I can see why you would be bothered by it, but it's really not a big deal because I'm sure you can't figure out everyone's true nationality just by looking at them too right?

And the stereotyping thing, some people do have a point. I'm considered a prep at my school, and no, I wouldn't consider myself "white washed". But the thing is, I'm chinese and Im a prep. I admit it. You don't see me thinkinga bout my appearance all the time, painting my nails, putting down other races or anything. The thing is, racism is everywhere. Just learn to accept it or make a joke out of it. You're not going to be able to stop it. And racism doesn't happen with just one group. A lot of asian parents are racist to other races Im sure. So just try to get over it. I mean, I know how it feels but things like these can only bother you if you let it.

i get a lot of remarks of being "chinese-looking" but i`m really not chinese i`m filipino and it pisses me off when people ask me if i can speak chinese or not. the majority of my school are black people.. with some asians and whites and hispanics. anyways.. in class we would always talk about racism against black people. i mean i KNOW it`s a huge thing in history but the teachers act like there are no other races that endured racism in the past. i mean in the hallways, if a black person were to crack a joke on an asian person it would be funny hilarious, but if that joke was on a black person, they would get sooo pissed off and call that person a racist. which i don`t get at all and it annoys the fcuk out of me! the only jokes they have are saying "ching chong chow" and "lemme get chinese food/fried rice". ermm.gif

school teaches you about not being racist but it doesn`t really change how you act OUTSIDE of school or even in the hall way. sounds negative.. but it`s the truth. if it`s not racism, its stereotypical. mad.gif

Hmm, that problem hasn't happened here... sorta. Well people keep saying "nigga" (I'm not trying to offend anyone, sorry!" And they spray paint things like "what's up nigga?" on the doors... It's really annoying... I think everyone gets it from songs... They think it's all cool to be racist...

Not much else... The guys always ask what some swear words in Chinese are... annoying... But I don't think it's too bad.

Alright, replace 'Asian' with the appropriate culture in relation to you.
Then replace a stereotype or comment in that post with a common one that applies to your race.

Example:
QUOTE
"Dammit, I hate when these guys go up to me just because I'm Asian and say, "Hey rice picker, 5 dolla make you holla? Me luv yoo long time!"
Becomes:
QUOTE
"Dammit, I hate when these guys go up to me just because I'm Indian and say, "Hey Apu, why don't you go back to 7-Eleven or pump me some gas!"

See, that way everyone can relate.
There's a half-assed easy solution for everything. laugh.gif

hmm my town is full of asians/hispanics/jewish people ^^;; i guess "preps"

but people tend to do the whole "do chinese people get their last names by throwing pans down stairs? CHING CHONG!" i dont do anything.. i just laugh

i dont care if they call me chink.. i dont find it offensive x_O
people always go in the hallway "CHINK!!!!!!!!! CHINKYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!"

and the "preps" in my school do care about how the look =P but everyone does.. they just tend to scream "IS MY HAIR OKAY" in one of their friends faces and it echos through the hallway XD

BUT people tend to joke alot with me.. and once they start.. they dont stop

thats why my friend was freaking out.. people were talking about her and joking and she was going crazy because she hated it

and other stuff... my town is VERY sterotypical

"asians give the best head...... "
"asians cant drive.."
"asians have small penises"
"asians can do math very good"

and others.. i've heard alot.. usually if i come across something bad..
that i dont like i just tell them to stop if they dont then ill probably find some
way to stop them

hmm also when my korean friends are called "gook" they say "soup? wtf! DONT CALL ME SOUP!!" because they say gook sounds a tad bit like soup in korean

hmm new opinion...oops.

well yes there is racism...it is somthing you have to deal with...but like everyone is stereotyped against...everyone...

"And like, everything is so... seperated at our school.
Like, the african-americans would sit with each other at lunch, and the asian people would sit with themselves. Heck, I sit with 2 other asians."

bleh..happens at every school. don't worry it gets better as people mature. in 6th grade it was like that to. it was kind of scary or weird going to school when i started middle schooll...because one elementary was all black and mexican and then my elemntary school was all white and asian...then they mixed togethe rin middle school...lots of racism in 6th grade. itll get bettter as you get older though. well with most people.

Then in college, it goes away. THem little kids. Ur around little kids. they make little kids assumptions. Plus, they say that shit cause they around alot of their own kind, so, if they was around tons of asians, u think they would say it?

QUOTE(xquizit @ Oct 20 2004, 3:42 PM)
Yeah, so just accept people are ignorant and let them continue their ignorant ways. Right. That sure makes for a better society.

That is the wrong attitude to have towards such a serious issue. Racism is not something to take lightly. Sure, its everywhere and it may not ever fully change for the better.

Ok, to everyone who keeps saying that we should ignore or not be bothered by racism, read above. I made some strong points and am disappointed that they were ignored.

and i moved to town with 100% whites
they were acting all weird because im asian
they say "omg u kno that kid, shes asian" or "i wonder if she can speak english" i want to just stick a middle finger up their face and say "OF COURSE I CAN SPEAK ENGLISH U DUMBFUCKS!!" ah but that didnt happen. well im korean and im mad tall.. and when i went to middle school i saw more koreans but still the whites are being all bitchy to us koreans and stuff.. ppl hear me in the hall talk korean and they like "oh are u japaneese?" and i feel like smacking them silly. and at italian class they like "what is an asian doing in italian" isnt it obvious? because i CHOSE italian..

no offense to some people but i live on long island and im used to living in Queens where theres a lot of koreans.. i wanted to be white a few times because i just didnt fit in.. =/ but im PROUD of being korean and now i have courage to say "no bitch im korean" or "of course i can speak english u want to hear it?" because my friends are there to back me up

i know this response is a little late, but no matter where you live, or where you move, there will always be racism. even if you move to a diverse area, there will be racism...maybe not as much as if you lived in some place with no diversity... but still, there will always racism.

and the thing with "traditional" parents, my dad is pretty racist, though i hate to admit it, but his comments get on my nerves. ok random fact...but well. the point is..

no matter where you turn, there are racist people. you don't have to get even with them if they make a derogatory comment about you or someone else...i just ignore them or flick my finger. shifty.gif

it just depends on the person.

oh...and don't do the "azn pride" thing... pinch.gif hehe

Hmm... Great... THIS topic is back... woohoo [/sarcasm]

Do you people even know what racism is? It's the belief that one's own race or ethnic group is naturally superior to other races or ethnic groups. Just because their prejudice or discriminative [which is a source of stereotyping, scapegoating, as well as the social enviroment], doesn't mean that they are RACIST... mellow.gif
