I went to a leadership conference this weekend where I met and made friends with a lot of foreign exchange students. I had been thinking about possibly being an exchange student next year but after hearing all the great things they said about the program, I'm seriously considering it. My mom is also considering being a host family so we can host a foreign exchange student at our house. I wish the program was six months instead of twelve, however, because next year will be my senior year. I definitley have to give it more thought....Have any of you ever thought about being a foreign exchange student?

My school has had several exchange students. I'm interested in being one but I'll have to wait until college coz junior and senior are the most important years here. You mess up, you're messed up for life. So yeah, I'll probably get into an exchange programme in college.

it's pretty cool to be a host family
my friend was a host family, and they didn't mind taking in another student..even though they had like 7 kids [they did...really!!] already. their mom had a HUGE heart. it was cool cuz i gotta meet all of them. the students were sooo cool!! if you become a host home, you'd probably like it biggrin.gif

my aunt was a host family and it seemed pretty cool. even though they didnt see much of them because they were always out or something, plus they didnt know english or french [my aunt lives in canada]

i wanna be one but i dont think i would last 12 months. theres exchange students at my school from norway, and everybody is like obsessed with them.

well, last year, there were some foreign exchange students at my school. it was pretty cool. i've considered it, and i would really like to do it, but my apartment is too small to host someone, so i probably won't do it.

When my mom was my age, her family was a host family and they loved it. She still talks to exchange student today...I've met her and her son.

My school wouldn't be the ones sponsoring my trip...well, sort of. I'm in a club at school called Interact (sort of like a volunteering club) and Interact is a division of Rotary. Rotary is basically what Interact is only it's for adults (and obviously not part of school). Rotary has a youth exchange program...so they'd be the one's sponsoring me.

My mom's okay with it.
