I would tell you to listen to Death Cab For Cutie ..... but they don't usually go under the "emo" category - they're more indie rock in my opinion ... Many of their songs are good for that kind of depressed state of mind though.

;o Indie isnt the same as emo. Emo uses more guitar+drums. Emo lyrics are stronger than Indie.

Taking Back Sunday- Your Own Disaster

I love that song. =D

I don't know if you'd consider all these songs emo, but...

Dashboard Confessional - Remember to Breathe (That's my favorite from them/him.)
Brand New: Jaws Theme Swimming, Mix Tape, Soco Amaretto Lime, The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot
Bright Eyes - It's Cool, We Can Still Be Friends (This song makes me feel like crap, but in a good way. Anything else by him fits into the depressing category.)
Saves The Day: Freakish, Nightingale, Hold, Tomorrow Too Late
The Spill Canvas - All Hail the Heartbreaker

To the girl that commented on my response...

Yeah, why the hell do you think I said ... "Does it matter... it's all good music." Which kind of opens the doors for all types of rock songs that are pretty emotional...[that's what emo stands for]

maybe because I like to be OPEN MINDED about music... Did I come out and say... "oh here are some emo bands".... No... Have you ever heard Sunday Drive? That's a pretty depressing song

and by the way.. from my point of view, i don't think you really know what you're talking about...

Keep in mind, bands that are not categorized as 'emo' then... DO make emo songs...

f*ck it, i quit...

Uhm....

Brand New- The No Seatbelt Song

It's angsty more than emo I believe. But I guess it could fall under the same catergory. *shrugs*

Brand New- The Boy who blocked his own shot

That's more emo i think. I love that song! happy.gif

The best emo band on the planet is Further Seems Forever. They were also one of the first main emo bands of our generation. They're the reason you got bands liek Dashboard Confessional and Thursday....who suck anyway.

FSF - A New Desert Life
FSF - Pride War
FSF - Just Until Sundown
FSF - Wearing Thin
FSF - Madison Prep

Those are the best i can think of.

Eh, hem... Chris Carrabba (the singer and founder of Dashboard Confessional) was also one of the original member and singer of FSF.

We have Dashboard Confessional not because of FSF... but because Chris believed that what he was writing and feeling at the time was too emotional to be used for FSF (even though he was writing the material for FSF as well) so he started performing by himself under the name of Dashboard Confessional (he couldn't perform as Chris Carrabba because then that would have confused him with FSF when he wanted to be apart from them).

And then eventually there were disputes between the members and Chris left the band and continued to perform as Dashboard Confessional... and then he started to create a full band.

So if you're saying Dashboard sucks, then you're pretty much saying FSF sucks as well. Well, the original FSF anyways.
