Her eyes were closed and she was taking in deep, long breaths. She shook her honey brown strands of hair out of the middle of her face, and they landed somewhere around the corner of her eye, in which she then opened. She was an observer, trying to make sense of the enigmatic world, the irascible people, and those who were completely exotic. Her eyes scanned over the spotlights, drifted past those who were heinous and short in thought; she was selective. Her focus fell upon someone distant… Her glance sharpened…

_ Noticed. He sighed and looked down. He hated being stared at this way… but she was different; enticing. He kept his head down, but his eyes made their way up… fixing themselves right on her… His eyes followed hers… and it was like they could see the whole world through each other’s eyes… They had the same vision… not quite… they didn’t even know each other… yet. She was standing, now… flipping her gorgeous brown hair to the side and playing with it with her left hand as her right carried a green notebook, which she had decorated with sharpies, with her designer bag hanging from one shoulder, she kept walking. He panicked… she was walking in his direction. Her figure was absolutely breathtaking. She was not the model type that so many guys had always loved. She had perfect curves and a smile of radiance and happiness… but her eyes told him otherwise. They had a certain aspect behind the shades of brown that struck him; he was debilitated. She walked past him to the vending machine and his mouth gaped at the familiar scent she wore; it drove him completely insane, but he loved it… This girl caught his eye.

Thirst was killing her… and her mouth was probably as dry as it was in Las Vegas. She stepped into a line of about 4. She dug into her massive maroon Kate Spade bag that was a gift to her from a family friend. Actually, it was a gift to that family friend that didn’t want it, so it was given to her. She didn’t have much in it, though… Just some sheer lip gloss, two different brands of mascara, black eyeliner, tampons, a pen, and, of course, her wallet. She pulled her wallet out… it was open. She pried the money pocket apart and found nothing… “Dammit!”… Robbed, again, and it was 2nd time this week. She hated this part of the city. She reached into her back pocket… 2 dollars. Hey, at least I have something and I won’t pass out on the ground because of dehydration. She threw the other dollar in her bag and moved up in line. She stared at the people in front of her… she loved this… and found it amusing when people gave her dirty looks and in response she’d just smile back at them and give them a small wink and lick her lips. She stepped up to the vending machine, inserted her dollar, and out popped a bottle of root beer… She quickly opened it and took a couple of swigs… It tastes better from a can. She made her way back to the table she was sitting at… Funny, she was the only one who sat there; she was intimidating, she supposed… but she shrugged the idea off. It didn’t matter to her. She’d rather be alone.

_ He grabbed his bag and swung it over his shoulder…and picked up his black notebook, he carried that thing everywhere. He was shy before… but right now he felt spontaneous, he felt as if he was alive… Living from moment to moment, he liked this feeling. Forgetting about the way he marred his arms a couple of days before. Pushing the thoughts of his lugubrious life back at home and all of those who looked at him; they were so ruthless. He followed her back to the table from where she was staring at him from. Her eyes were on the page in front of her and she was writing something down. He pulled out the chair across from her, twisted it around and straddled it… what a guy. He placed his bag on the table to the left of him and put his black notebook in front of him.
She raised her head and an eyebrow in question.

She managed to squeak out a simple “Hi.”
“Hey.” He loved her voice; it could easily mollify all his pain. “How’re you?”
“I’m fine.” She closed her notebook, but left her pen inside to keep her on that same page.
“What are you up to?” He made sure he looked into her eyes when he spoke to her, to show that he was interested.
“In the middle of a piece of mine… I’m sorry, but… am I supposed to know who you are?”
He grinned… “Hmm, no, you don’t know me.”
“Well, okay…?”
“You were looking at me.”
“I look at everyone.”
“I’ve noticed… but unlike anyone else you were staring at, I came to talk to you.”
She blushed… “…So?”
He wasn’t too sure about what to say next… He didn’t usually talk to girls he didn’t know… His mind reeled.
“So, what’s your name, kid?”
He laughed, “Dustin, yours?”
She held up her notebook, it was covered with random words… and right in the middle it was her name “Emily.”
He lifted his black notebook off the table… nearly the same words, but no name in the middle.
They smiled at each other.

They strolled down the sidewalk together, not really knowing where they were going… Well, east, is all they could tell you… They continued to talk about writing and music, love and life. The sun was evanescent behind them and they walked into the night sky. They laughed together and told more jokes… they shared nearly the same opinions; this is what she always wanted… She’s been looking for a person like this for so long.

“So, we’ll trade notebooks, then?”
“Yeah, sure… and we can meet up tomorrow night.”
“Will you tell me what you think of my writing… in all honesty?”
“Of course I will, Emily.”
“Not all of it is my writing… some of it is just me rambling…”
“It’s okay; it’s likely that I’m going to love every word of it.”

They traded notebooks and phone numbers. They resumed their path and after saying goodbye 10 times in 40 minutes, they still could not stop diving into each other’s minds… getting to know each other more and more with each word spoken and the way it was said just gave them both more insight into the other’s world.

_He sat down on his bed in his apartment. It was covered with ripped pages of a notebook. His cds were in a black case on his bed. And random lyrics that he had written were thrown about the room. He reached over to turn on his bedside lamp. Two clicks, on. He felt around in his bag for Emily’s notebook and he turned to the middle. Her handwriting was written to perfection, same as her writing… her mind. He read and discovered so many new things about this girl that he has just met… Just through her writing he felt as if he was in her mind, and he loved that. After hours of reading through her notebook… over and over again, observing the way she had stroked her pen across the page delicately. He reached into his front right pocket and pulled out a green pen he had picked up from somewhere earlier that day. He flipped to the very last page she had written on and underneath her thought out words… he wrote, “Your words are intriguing, as is your life. I absolutely love everything about you. And you’re everything that I’ve been looking for.” And with that, it marked an end to his crestfallen life… and a beginning to a new one where he’d be accompanied with his soul-mate.

She sat with Dustin’s notebook on her lap in her living room in front of a rejected television set. She had laid her fingers across the pages which were now familiar to her so many times within the past couple of hours. Nothing could wipe this smile off of her face and she was in a state of complete bliss and in awe from his powerful writing. She reached for her favorite blue pen… removed and nibbled a little on the cap; she scribbled, “You’re writing has really touched me… and I can relate to everything you have said… You seem to have put me somewhere I have never been before and don’t plan on leaving. I’m on a cloud of ecstasy.

Eh, I'm not sure about this one... I don't really like this piece at all because i wasn't very energetic about even doing a love story because this is my very first love and happiness piece, but uh my friend kind of wanted me to finish what I had started so i did just to try it out, and yeah i don't like it

Well, I read it while talking to you, so you've gotten all the feedback I could give you.
What were some of the things I said?
Oh yeah, we agreed an additional line at the end was needed, I enjoyed the dual perspectives with their respective worlds, and then the the connection that bridged the gap between them.
Ack, can't remember anything else.

Well, again, good job, I really liked it.
