For those of you in high school, wut do you think of the NEW FORMAT for SATs???


I think it completely sux!! But it's ok..i'im in college already... tongue.gif

hahah they took out the analogy section and they are putting in an essay section , plus harder math, and grammer section.. tongue.gif

man the SATs sucks, you get one try and if you screw it up, then you get one retest i think. i had to take it in 7th grade and got and 840's/1600 (bad), yea i'll be taking it again in 11th or 12th. i forgot.

yea i anyones taking the SATs this year, buy a book about it or something. practice it because thats the only way you'll get a highscore on it unless if somehow you are really lucky they mess up on grading it.

that should give you little bit about what it is. if someone gives you a chance to take it before 11th TAKE IT. then you'll get an idea of whats it like.

i've seen some people panic because they never tooken it before and guess what? they got a bad score on it

thats good news for me....cuz the analogies are super hard...

but...the math and grammer is HARDER!? wtf? =[

i took the pre-sats in 8th grade and got 700 x[
very bad....=[

We write an essay and in forty minutes time they judge us out of alot of points?

me either. i dont know what theya r elike. to me they dont seem like a big deal i always do good in big tests that are from the state, maybe i should put more effort when its time for the sats, but i aint stressing over it.

bleh, i'm not too happy about the new SAT because of the essays. but i'm glad they're taking away the analogies. but there's nothing i can do to change it, so i might as well not complain and just take it. eh-my grade (class of 2006) will be the first ones taking the new SAT

i personally think the newer SATs are better...

1) i hated analogies..thank god they got rid of em
2) the "harder" math doesn't get past basic trig....I don't mind.
3) the essays...i think its a freebie since i like writing. +, it wont be in the SAT II if you take the new SAT I...so whats the worry?
4) they got rid of quantative comparison in the math section...i always did worst in that part, so yea...im also glad they got rid of this.
5) critical reading is a piece of cake.

is it just me or are some people getting confused with two different SATs?
S[tanford] A[chievement] T[est] and S[cholastic] A[ptitude] T[est].

you don't take the second one (or even pre) in 7th or 8th grade or whatever unless you guys are talking about practice ones they offer in those SAT prep books. (which, imo, is completely different from the real thing cause i took a "practice" one in the book for PSAT and got an average of 1350 - 1430/1600 (i took many differents ones offered in the books) and when i took the real thing, I got a 1050/1600). private schools offer the first one for their students to take every year at any grade level.

You get 25 minutes for the essay. 25 minutes to think, plan, and write 5 paragraphs. Introduction, hopefully 3 body paragraphs, and one conclusion. Hell yes. 2400, here I come.

I don't like it since their a essay. (even thought essays are easy for me, i still don't like to write alot)

The current format actually a bit more easy compare to the new one. The new one will also contain new points from 1600 to 2400 i think.

Are they shorter? They replaced analogies with short passages, but I think the long ones still exist.

And what do you mean you're too young to take the SATs? You'll take them sooner or later, you'll get your chance at the aweesome fun of them biggrin.gif
