i find asians (of our generation - because we all know about asian parents' phobia of african american people) are the people most likely to speak out against racism.

i myself tend to hang out or date asian people more frequently than caucasian people simply because i feel more comfortable around people who have similar customs, traditions, and family backgrounds as me. i dont feel as if i have to act differently around them ( i wouldnt act differently around anyone anyways, but that doesnt mean i dont feel like i should.)

i know a lot of caucasian guys that prefer asian women.. because they think they're prettier and are generally more "wild" because their parents had protected and sheltered them all their lives...

when did hate crimes come in here? there have been examples of hate crimes from every race towards every other race, so dont make it seem like asians are the ones most likely to.... just because some have occured, doesnt make the entire race prejudiced.

I like going with the same ethnicity because as someone pointed above I feel more welcomed and home with people with the same cultures, heritage, and tradition. No ethnicity is better than the other, but I do like to preserve the tradition and heritage i and my parents have been grown up with.

I personally don't have any problem with it, I was even in one of these relationships for a little while. But everybody has their own beleifs, and some don't approve of them. To answer the question of if there is one thing, right or wrong, it would be impossible, because everybody has thier own beleifs. I suggest that you make this decision for yourself, and try no t to let anybody influence your opinion.

I think it's pretty wrong that you said that asian females are prettier than caucasian females... Do you have something against all caucasian females? I mean, come on... I know it's your opinion... but I just want you to realize that you're categorizing all caucasian females and saying that all asian females are prettier than them... I mean, there are a LOT of caucasian females that are very beautiful... As for interracial dating... My ex boyfriend is black... and I'm hispanic... My family is against it, but they didn't know I was dating him... We were together for 2 years and we're still friends... My mom is fine with me hanging out with him, but I'm not sure how she would have taken it if she knew we were a couple... (if someone is planning to have an 'interracial relationship', I'm not telling you to keep it from your parents, if they don't accept it...) but it's also the safest way.... Because I know that if a parent is totally against it, they're going to try to separate you (I had a friend in this situation and she was black and asian and her boyfriend was from india and his parents went so far that they disenrolled him from school and were on the verge of sending him back to his country)... So, things like this can get extremely serious... but I say that two people can't help who they fall in love with or even who they like or just love them (there's a difference with people in love and just loving a person)... Dating outside of your race is a way for you to 'explore' other races... To see things the way another race sees things... for example, if you date someone who is black you see what they have to deal with from society... like racism or prejudice -- at least I learned from my ex boyfriend... To me, it's a beautiful thing... and being as open as possible makes you even a better person....

The thing is, wish Asian parents, they always go CRAZY over the fact that their daughter or son is interacial dating. I've lived a sheltered life, but I still consider the fact that skin color DOES NOT affect personality. i know from experience that a lot of people are against interracial dating between asians and african americans as well, because i am dating an african american. people still stare at us funny, shake their heads, and even point at us. i remember one time, there was a filipino couple talking about us nearby, and i guess they didn't realize that I understood tagalog.

as i said previously, i think the meshing of two different backgrounds and cultures is a beautiful thing, and there is more to learn from each other.

Honestly, I have nothing against interracial dating, nor should I.. Mainly considering I'm the child of a Filipino mother and an American/German father. I'm also dating a white boy. :) Neither of my parents care who I date, as long as they're respectful and all that jazz. Though, my dad seemed quite happy he was white.. Hmm.. Nah, JK. I was more worried that his parents wouldn't like me, because I'm part Asian.. and seeing how they're from the south and I'm a yankee, too.. (See, we all have misperceptions of others..) Luckily, they don't mind.. and frankly, it seems our generations (ehm.. i'm 16) are more tolerant of interracial dating.. (As well as homosexual relationships.. but that's a different subject.) It's just the older more tradtional generations are less tolerant.. they'll come around eventually.. I hope. Let's just put it this way.. In the distant distant future, we'll all be the same color. I have lived in the U.S for 8 years. Even if there were FOBs, they should seriously adapt to the American lifestyle. Or at least not show that they're "racist," and the shoe thing, I'm speaking generally. Most Asians take their shoes off because that's usually what I've seen, since I've lived in an Asian community before I moved to a more Americanized community, and I know there are FOBs, but they aren't racist. I'm not saying there aren't Asians that are racist, but I'm sure myself and many others would rather not be labeled as "racist" just beacause they were Korean or Asian.

Well, to me interracial dating is all good....because mixing is what us americans need to do....and stop the hating....i mean sometimes parents don't want their kids dating other races because of the whole tradition and heritage thing.....so it depends....but if a couple of two completely different sides want to be together they will be together no matter what happens....all it depends on when it comes to interracial dating it is basically deciding what you want in the world.
